The Acne Thread

I used to have a really clear back. But now I have small patches of bacne, some of which I know are blackheads. I've tried using Proactiv, which once worked for me, but it no longer does. Suggestions?

^ murad has a body acne scrub. i've never tried it, though. :(

has anyone used it?

oh ok maybe i'll throw out my st ives. but they have really good shower gels adn stuff

^ i'm not a st. ives expert, but i just know that a lot of people here have mentioned how bad and rough it is, so maybe don't throw it away, but try something else and see if trying something new relieves your acne? :flower:

Its actually genetic, my dad had acne, my cousin has acne(dad's side), my uncle had acne(dad's brother).
yeah...

mine is genetic too, it's the worst kind!
and I have been to a dermatologist, I was under treatment for years, it kept making my acne wrose, but it was supposed to first get all the stuff out of my skin then it would be better. but seriously for YEARS?? so I stopped, then I had HORRIBLE skin for a moment, but now it's calmed down. it's still not perfect though and it never will be. but the main reason why I stopped the dermatological treatment was because it damged my skin. it still hasn't completely recovered, it gets red every time it gets a little cold etc.

I have the St. Ives scrub and use it quite frequently, though not on my face but on my back. It works pretty well for 'bacne'.

So I've been reading up on acne.org and a lot of people suggested lemon juice and baking powder. Anyone have been brave enough to try this?

when steaming my face i squeeze citrus juice into it. it smells good and citrus is good for oily skin. ive heard.

Ok so I tried the lemon juice and it worked wonders! It just rubbed a slice of lemon on face, let is set for about 10 minutes then rinse. also, I tried the baking soda on top of the lemon juice (made it into a paste) it burned quite a bit but only for a few seconds. I actually noticed a huge difference in how it dried out my blemishes and refreshed my skin. I'm only going to do it a night followed by a good moisturizer (without any anti blemish ingredients).

Once I get home, I'm totally trying the lemon thing! I've done egg whites once before to temporarily dry out my skin for some reason I can't remember, but I've never tried any natural solutions like lemon juice and baking powder.

if you tried that and it worked for you, you should probably try bentonite clay powder, too! it works wonders. :flower:

^I might have to try the lemon thing, although I'm terrified of putting a piece of lemon onto my face incase it irritates it.
I will definitly squeeze some lemon into the water I steam my face with though!

^Yes, I read where some people on acne.org delute it with water and apply it like a toner. That might work for you!

^ i read that orange juice is good, too... from an actual orange, not like... tropicana.
