The Acne Thread

I'm getting desperate with my acne, this year seems it got bad... and I can't use most of the products, I'm allergic to them. Anyone knows any natural product that helps? :(

I think my skin is starting to dry out already. But I just won a competition for 12 products from the clarinsmen range! Perfect timing.

Also, my dermo said it'll go to a higher dose in 10 weeks. It's supposed to be 1mg per kg of weight and I weigh 69. You may be on a lower dose because you weigh less :)

My grandma recently got me this herbal soap specifically for sensitive Black skin, and so far it's working really well....and pretty fast too. I've been using it for about 4 days and I see a difference already.

It seems to be fading my acne scars before it actually helps the acne.

I've been suffering with acne since I was 16. My boyfriend, on the other hand, has never gotten any pimples in his life. His skin is flawless, and everytime I'm with him...I feel so self conscious about myself. But he makes me feel at ease, constantly telling me that pretty much everyone goes through this and that it will all go away on its own. He loves me for me, that I'm beautiful on the inside and outside. I'm 22 now, my acne has definitely gotten better...still battling those red marks and the odd pimple...but the best thing you can do..is don't pile on a bunch of products on your skin, because it will make it worse. Just use a gentle cleanser such as cetaphil or purpose, and a moisturizer that's best suited for your skin type. that's all you need. As for diet, consume a lot of water every day, eat healthy (organic food all the way!). Just be happy. Don't pay attention to those people that look at you, just keep telling yourself it will go away and be around positive people who notice you for who YOU are, not what's on your face. It's definitely true what they say, inner beauty is much more important than the outer. :flower: stay positive, guys! just be happy, take care of your skin properly, keep your hands clean, hair off of your face, eat a healthy diet, and DON'T pick at your pimples!

I weigh 51 so that's already a difference
I have to check in at the end of october, maybe my dosis will also go up if it's not improving, will keep you up to date!

so far no side effects for me, but keeping fingers crossed off course

Guys, I've just discovered a miracle! Witch hazel completely cleared up my acne in a few days :) It's so cheap too.

So I've got a pimple on my nose, right above my eye. It's HUGE; in fact, it might be bordering on a cyst (gross, how'd this happen?!). I have no idea what to do to get rid of it. It's in a danger area too since it is an in area where blood vessels have a direct connection to the brain; as in, if I pop it, it may get infected and send an abscess to my brain (maybe I'm being a hypochondriac, but I'm also a med student so this is what I've learned). Any advice?

Are you SURE it's a pimple? Maybe you should get it checked out because it could be an eye-area infection. Definitely do not pop it... See a doctor and if he does confirm it is a pimple use creams to treat it to be safe.

MY ACNE HAS CLEARED COMPLETELY. OMG. it's like magic. it's been getting better and now for the last 5 days my skin is pimple free! this is the routine i've been following for the past 2 weeks. i stopped using a lot of products and tried to keep it as simple as possible. and it worked.

MORNING & AFTERNOON
Cleanse with Himalaya Herbals Neem Face Wash
Shave (when I need to)
Apply aloe vera gel on my face. I have oily skin and this keeps it looking matte and non oily for a very long time. After shaving it also soothes the skin amazingly. if i get a cut, it stops it from bleeding immediately.

EVENING
Cleanse with Himalaya Herbals Neem Face Wash
Apply Turmeric and Honey face mask / Greek Yoghurt & Turmeric face mask (Alternating nights)
Apply aloe vera gel on my face.

ONCE A WEEK
Steam face with a pot of hot water and some turmeric, followed by evening routine.

Yup that's all.

turmeric can be found in the herbs and spices section in a normal supermarket but it's gonna be way overpriced. try to find an asian or indian grocery shop and get it from there instead.

If you're one of those people that don't drink water, START DRINKING UP. just drink a cup everytime the clock hits the hour.

Since i'm one of those people who already drink lots of water and milk (some ppl say its not good for acne but it never made a difference to me), i decided maybe to take it a step further. almost everyday i try to drink a cup of carrot juice, any other juice, and a banana milkshake. here's the recipe if you want:

1 banana
1 tablespoon yoghurt
1 tablespoon honey
1/3 to 1 cup milk (depends on your preference. i use 1 cup)
1/8 cup raw wheat germ (you can get this at any supermarket in the baking section. its really good and has lots of nutrients for you that are good.)

Put everything in a blender and blend till smooth. I occasionally add in a few slices of other fruits like oranges or strawberries. this is also rich in biotin so it'll make the roots of your hair stonger.

now the only problem i have are my scars. but not to worry, i have tricks up my sleeve and i'll come back to post about them if they work in a couple of weeks.

i completely agree with you. i'm glad your acne has gotten better! you have a really sweet boyfriend and it's so great that there are people that truly appreciate inner beauty. :)

Also does hair on your face really cause problems? i've had a fringe covering my forehead for like 4 years and my forehead is the only place on my face that's completely free of pimples.. it still looks like baby skin :P

^ wow, that's great! I'm so glad you found something that works for you. natural is the way to go. thank you for sharing your routine! I'm definitely going to try out your recipe and let you know how it goes. I drink carrot juice with apples and beets almost every day. that's the best way to start the day.

I used to have bangs when I was younger and my hair used to get oily really fast even after washing. So the oils from the hair would transfer to my skin and cause breakouts. The same goes for if you use a lot of hair products. That's why I keep my hair up most of the time now.
but yeah, I definitely feel that the less products you put on your face, the better it looks. Recently, I've been using dove soap, evian spray (in place of a toner), and cetaphil moisturizing lotion. my skin has cleared up beautifully.:woot:
I haven't broken out, and I usually would every day whether it be a tiny pimple or a big one  so I'm happy I'm finally pimple free!

^^ Natural skin care really works wonders. The honey mask is a great moisturizing mask IMO!

Pretty bad cysts going on here guys! Initial breakout is well underway. Joy.

I had it checked out. It is a pimple, albeit a HUGE pimple. I got some cream and antibiotics for it.

I've got the same issue with a lot of products. I've had awesome luck with the aspirin/honey mask. I get hard, purple, pea sized bumps that never come to a head. (I guess they're cysts but they don't get that big and don't hurt) I get them once every couple of months and it's usually hormonal. In between I use Alba pineapple enzyme cleanser and Kiss My Face peaches and cream for face. But when I get those I use the aspirin/honey mask and they clear up in about a week.

Take 3 un-coated aspirin, 1/2 teaspoon of honey and a few drips of water. Get your face wet and then use the mixture to gently exfoliate and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Then use cleanser to wash it off and a good non AHA moisturizer. Only use once a week at most otherwise the acne gets worse. There is salylic acid in aspirin so if you react with that don't do this.

^ I'm not allergic to salylic acid, that I know. I'll surely try this... I'm really needing it! Thank you, neversummer!

after 1,5 week use of my pills (trito-something) my acne is clearing up!! my cheeks have already decreased to half the size and only a few new ones, and chin is free, some scars are left off course but i am using phyto+ skinceuticals as improvement, so far it's working great

I'm curious to know if this is still working for you? And what brand of it are you using?
