The Acne Thread

im going to say this for the bajillionth time, use glycolic acid!

its a bit pricey but worth it!

as for foundation i recommend something light like revlon bare naturals which is a tinted moisturizer actually. it works best if you have medium to dark skin.

to be honest wearing make up have negative effects to your skin:
-It doesnt let skin breathe
-when you use a strong cleanser to remove it strips your skin of its natural oils as well

just wondering what people think of white vinegar?
who has used it, what are your recommendations?

if no one knows what im talking about... i've been recommended that white vinegar diluted in distilled water is great for your skin.

Is Aveeno a good brand to use?

I think I've outgrown Neutrogena. It does nothing for me, really. I'm looking for something stronger. :flower:

I used the Aveeno cleansing bar, with salicylic acid, and it made me break out like crazy. I threw it away after I saw the change in about 1 and half weeks. But I use the SPF moisturizer and it's very nice on the skin.

Oh! :o

Well right now I'm using the Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser and it has some kind of ingredients in it that make my skin less dry after I wash my face. And it gently exfoliates it so I feel smooth after it rinses off clean.

Reallly? im currently using the Neutrogena Invigorating men's wash and its working good. But maybe its because of my regimen also

But i've heard Aveeno is a good brand.

decided i'm going back to the doctors tomorrow as my skin's pretty much gone back to how it was even with using my prescribed dalacin t topical solution and having had my pill changed to a more skin-friendly one. hopefully will get prescribed something that will work long-term. sigh!

^ i didn't have any results on dalacin solution.

The zineryt has made a big difference,I just don't like how it leaves the horrible layer on my face, makes it harder to wear foundation. But having said that I'm getting more confident going without make up again :-)

^ dalacin worked wonders for me for the first 4 or so months i used it but now i guess my skin has just become "immune" to it. glad zineryt is working for you though, dumbfairy! have you been prescribed anything other than dalacin before zineryt?

as said, i went to the doctors today, and have been prescribed lymecycline, an oral antibiotic. has anyone taken this before or taking it at the moment? i'm a bit wary as after two months, they ask you to come off it to see how your skin manages without it, and i've read online that most people's skin goes back to how it was in that time, or even gets worse than what it was like to begin with. having said that, still have my fingers crossed!

I was on zineryt this time last year before going on antibiotics, (oxy-tetracycline) which stopped having any positive effects after 6 months or so. Then the dalacin solution which did nothing at all. I'm glad it worked for you for a while though :-)

Hi guys, just read this thing about putting potatoes on your skin to get rid of redness/red spots... has anyone ever tried this? Does it work?

Also, how do you guys feel about putting garlic on your face? Heard that helps get rid of acne, not spots.

Thanks :flower:

k. so this has been somehow working for me. dont laugh cuz its kinda wierd. but after i brush my teeth and there is still some toothpaste on the brush, i lightly scrub my cheecks (my problem area). and so far so good. :)

Yes I have been oil cleansing on a night with argan oil and I'm seeing results, even getting comments from friends and family too.

I think it depends on the person, but I've had a really horrible time with lymecycline. After two months of taking it my skin is so much worse than it ever was before I started the course, in the end I just chucked the last few pills away. The GP, who wasn't my usual Doctor, told me that antibiotics make your skin worse before it gets better, but this stuff has been truly awful. Saying that though I took tetracylcine a few years back and had a nasty reaction to that, so I'm proabably allergic to the whole family and shouldn't have been prescribed lymecycline anyway. I'm starting Dianette soon which should hopefully sort everything out, but right now I've been left with horrible, itchy skin :(
