Their microdermabrasion is one of the best, and really works to smooth and clear the skin. You can tell a difference in just 2 times. I've read many dermatalogists who say that the home microderms are just as good as the salons.

What was the way you got rid of your acne? Is here anyone who's had acne and now has perfectly normal, beautiful skin?

my skin isn't quite 'beautiful' just yet due to hyperpigmentation but since that's not acne, i can't even remember the last time i had a pimple or whitehead. my skin is perfectly smooth and soft ;)
i suffered with acne for about two years, getting worse with time until about four months ago when i started 'the regimen.' and within a month, i was completely acne free :D
you can find the regimen here: www.acne.org

Thanks nicholas2505. Ive been looking at those so i now i know I should go ahead and get one! for now though I just have the "deep clean rinse"lol

Angela, i have hyperpigmentation too. What do you do against it?

i just finished up a kit called Scar Fade and Erase by AcneFree, it was recommened to me earlier in this thread. it really helped with my old scars that i had on my forehead. my forehead is completely scar free now! but it didn't help so much with my newer scars which are on my cheeks. so now i think i'm gonna experiment with some vitamin e oil on that.

after spending entirely too much time and money on over-the-counter "fixes" I went to a dermatologist and recieved a Rx for Myocyclin (an antibiotic which combats bacterial infections); as well as, a Rx for Renova (a Rx strength cream for fine lines and acne manufactured by Neutrogena).

My acne cleared up in 3-5 days (no joke). So far so good too - it has been 4 weeks taking 1 pill a day and using Renova at night only.

I dont have acne, but breakouts occassionally. And what really, really, really helps me is a plaster, it contains the same stuff as the pill i think? alot of hormones, and that makes my skin very nice and clear. i break out exactly 10 days before my period for 2 days, and then i am clear for the other 3+ weeks. i also use the VICHY stuff ...and some wonderful cleanser by Clarins.

You know, I've had acne on and off since I can remember, and there have been periods of none for years, and then breakouts every 3 months. I've found that weather change is the main factor, and actually my breakouts can be worse when it's cold than when it's hot out, and that's saying something because it gets really humid and hot here.

I've also found that all scars will fade over time no matter what you do, especially on the surface, but it's the scars that take out collagen that eventually show up as permanent. Nothing is going to fade or get rid of an indentation or scar like that except invasive treatments from a plastic surgeon/dermatologist. And it's strange too because you can never really tell what kind of pimple or cyst is going to scar worse than another, and it seems that i get the same pimples in the same places year after year. Some scar, and some don't. I've also tried some of the treatments like fat grafts, restalyn, photolaser and microdermabrasion. It's hard to say what works best but it's really a combination of all, and none last forever.

The main thing is to control the breakouts so you don't get scarring. The only thing that is a sure bet and lasts for years is accutane. I've had beautiful skin at short intervals with some other remedies, but accutane gave the best results for a long time.

yes i really think that changes in the weather have a dramatic effect on acne, because i've noticed that i break out in the more cystic acne in the winter which is much worse.

Its because of the lack of sun in the winter. Summer sun is great for clearing up your skin (not too much sun though). Some people even use sunbeds in the winter for their acne.

I disagree. The sun can help at times, but it doesn't do much to contain breakouts and it's very bad for scarring. There's something about the actual weather changing that causes the body to change too.

^ I agree. If you have acne scars then the sun is very bad and can make it look worse. (I have also said this before in this thread). Depending on which country you are in, the sun would be good for your skin. For example, in England yes the sun is good for your pimples, in Australia no the sun is not good for your pimples as it is too strong...

I've struggled with acne for about 2 years. Visits to a family dermatologist and putting on retin-a every other day has helped me get my clear skin back, though.

Has anyone tried Proactive? My cousin (my age) swears by the stuff. I recently started breaking out for no apparent reason, and I want to give this stuff a try before visiting the dermatologist. Does it work?

^ It works for some, but others like me who tried it as a teen found it to be very drying and didn't work. I guess if you have sensitive skin then don't use it....

Instead of wasting money not knowing if it would work or not, go see a dermatologist referred by your GP and he would recommend what you need to use...

im not gettign pimples but weird bumpy spots its like really small and very not so smooth when i put my foundation on it just looks blotchy and unevenly bumpy and its not pimples id ont know what it is....is thereanything i can do to get rid of it?>

^ Are you putting a liquid foundation on because that is VERY bad for your skin and that's probably where you got your small pimples are an allergic reaction because your pores are clogged from your liquid foundation.

Get powder foundation from jane iredale which is a mineral makeup company and very very good.

Too get rid of those pimples, you need to:

- stop putting that liquid foundation on to let your skin breath.
- go to the pharmacy and get a non-clogging cleanser and moisteriser to use twice a day.
- don't put anything harsh on it as you stated it is not pimples and more of an allergic reaction to your foundation...
