On my chin I have a particular place where a spot comes and as soon as it goes, it comes back as a painful red small swelling (nothing huge but it hurts quite a bit anyway) and the turns into a zit again. It is so annoying. Could someone please try to explain why it does this and what I can do to prevent this happening. Many thanks![]()
thank youthebeautybrains said:Acne is the result of a bacterial infection in your pore. The reason it keeps coming back in the same spot is that you aren't killing all of the bacteria. You just kill enough to reduce the swelling and when you stop treatment, the bacteria regroups and regrows. To prevent it you might try continuing the acne treatment even after the acne is gone. This should help. Incidentally, this is the same concept by which products like Proactive work.
I never knew that!! so thak you for that. and yes i do talk on the phone alot, too much probably!chin breakouts are definetly from talking on the phone. do you do that alot?
Yes, i always sit with my hands resting on my chineurofashionjunki said:^ Do you rest your hands on your chin? Do you get this before your period?
i geuss i should stop that. And i do often break out before my period. Thanks for the ideas
Since there isn't a head, Dalacin no longer works on my adult acne and I've been taking Accutane and going for laser treatments. My skin condition's improved a smidgen but it's not enough. I really want to know what has worked for you guys, if you had adult acne. Diets, meds, treatments, anything really. I would hate to spend another year with bad skin.
keroppi said:Okay, I bear some questions : What exactly do moisturizers do to the skin? Does it in any way help to clear/prevent acne? And is it necessary for people with oily skin to apply moisturizers?
you can make a good moisturizer that will not cause acne.thebeautybrains said:The answer to your second question is NO. Moisturizing will not help to clear/prevent acne. In fact, sometimes ingredients in moisturizers will cause acne. Don't worryyou can make a good moisturizer that will not cause acne.
Hipkitten said:The precise reason I break out is because my skin gets dry. When my skin is well hydrated and moisturized (which according to my aesthetician is different but I'm still not sure how) I don't break out. Now, this certainly isn't the case for everyone, but it sure is for me. keroppi, perhaps a good hydrating serum would be worth a try.
I would recommend everyone - regardless of skin type - use a moisturizer.
