The Acne Thread

I've never had break-out as bad as this, so its all new for me and I am a little worried about it  I gently exfoliate twice a week, and I also use a very gentle purifying cleanser. What type of fruit acids work best in your opinion?

I think it was just mentioned, but I too have had success with vitamin C creams. I think that the natural exfoliating action in a lotion form is both effective and gentle, so you can use it and not worry about it drying out your skin. Sephora has a few vitamin c products you can check online...Juice Beauty is a brand name that they carry, and there stuff has worked work well for me. lemon Juice helps for spot treatments and to fade post acne scars (those red marks) but it takes a while to work. some people swear by lemons but the juice had never really worked for me personally---sometimes those anti-aging products high in fruit acids work even better for acne, as he exfoliating action does wonders.

^^ i wear SPF 30+ everyday

its just typical teen skin i guess

Definitely keep using the sunscreen! Remember though that while sunscreen can prevent sun damage, it cannot keep your skin from producing oil when exposed to sun. This may sound strange (and look it) but I carry a parasol when I'm outside to keep the sun off my skin (I have to keep out of the sun for health reasons). I don't mind sticking out; besides, it gives me a reason to invest in super cute parasols :D Maybe that would be an option?

I can't remember if I read it in this thread or not, but somebody mentioned that a humidifier by their bedside helped their skin...

^ I use Chanel skincare, in particular their cleansers as well as skincare from the hydramax and purity range. I love the fact that it is very gentle, and great for those with sensitive skin. Have you tried anything else in the Chanel purity range voguelover?

no i was just bored after school and wondered into myer and tried on some stuff.
is it worth it. because i have typical teen acne skin

I had my skin tested there about 6 months ago (they did a computer test), and they recommended the hydramax/purity range for my skin type. If your from Sydney Australia (a guess based on you making a pitt stop in Myer :p) there is a Chanel beauty boutique (in Bondi Junction) which is worth a visit. There you can get one on one specialist advice and even recieve facials by consultation!
The purity range is ideal for acne prone skin, but I advise getting your skin tested before making any purchases. As we know Chanel skincare tends to be quite pricy ;)

I have very dry skin so it has worked wonders :p I do understand however that it can be oily for some...Their milk cleansers for instance tend to be on the oily side...But the hydramax serum/boost cream is lovely :)

By the way izzie, there was talk mid last year about a Sephora opening in Australia, but alas it never seemed to materialise...So unfair :(

AWW that sucks. No im from melbourne.

but yeah it was abit oily.

very interesting! do you use this one: http://www.marykay.com/color/foundations/mineralpowderfoundation/default.aspx
it's surprisingly cheap, isn't it?

Yep! That's the one. :flower:

And yeah, not too expensive really, and it'll last you a really long time! I've had mine for months, and I don't think I'm even halfway through the container.

Plus the the thing that I think is really nice about the powder foundation is you don't have to worry about your foundation ever looking cakey! I hate that. :yuk:

My skin has been looking so much better lately, due to some changes I did in my routine:

Using toner. I now apply a selfmade toner (2/3 water, 1/3 apple cider vinegar) twice a day, let it dry for a few minutes and then apply my moisturizer.

Switching my moisturizer. I used to use Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil-Free Moisturizer, but that did nothing for my skin and even though I tend to have oily skin, it always felt so dehydrated and tense. So I switched to a moisturizer from Nivea (it's called Aqua Beauty in Germany, so I suppose it's something with 'Aqua' in the name in other countries as well) and my skin feels so much better and fresher now.

Using oils. At night, I now apply baby oil to my face. I put a tiny bit of it on my fingers, rub it and spread it all over my face. When I wake up my skin feels so incredibly soft. I actually got this idea from one of the threads here (oil to combat oil), but instead of jojoba oil, I used some baby oil which I still had and it worked just as good. I also sometimes add a squirt of the oil to my conditioner which makes my hair really shiny and soft. No greasy residue at all.

Taking zinc supplements. I had taken them before, but for some reason I stopped and my skin started getting worse. Now that I'm taking it again, my skin has cleared up a bit and due to the biotin and B vitamins, my nails are stronger as well.

And about the Vitamin C products ... the Body Shop has a Vitamin C range which is pretty good. I only used the eye cream (very refreshing), but my mum used to have the moisturizer and it made her skin look quite radiant. Now this says nothing about its effect on acne prone skin, but I thought I'd add this. :flower:

Hmm, recently (past few days) more of those skin coloured bumps tiny bumps have been popping up on my cheeks, I don't know what they are but this is worrying me now!
The only think i relly recently added to my routine is Lush's Enzymion moisturiser do you think it could be that?

Also, I really want to get the clarisonic skin care brush, I think you can buy it online in the UK so I might do that :)
