The Acne Thread

Dont do anything to it! You dont want to break the skin, risk an infection or bacteria taking over. You might want to get a cortisone shot, or have it looked at. I've never had something that was black under the skin. How large is the area?

its not that big.

ive had it before and its just blood - as disgusting as it sounds.

i think it might be stuck because it was a painful cystic before and i was trying to push it out.
Then i decided that wasnt such a good idea so i used bp instead. now the blood is just left over.:(

BP can cause acne marks to stick around awhile. Mostly because it is a pro oxidant and makes the skin more vunerable to sun exposure, making the mark darker

i have a pimple( i think) and its like underneath my skin?? and if i squeeze it clear liquid stuff comes out?? anyone know what this type of pimple this is and what that liquid is??

Also, what causes these? I have no skin problems whatsoever, I rarely get pimples or blackheads. I wash/moisturize every night too.

^^Benzoyl Peroxide, it's a drying agent for acne.

X*Chanel*Chic*X I would get some polysporin. Helps fight against bacteria and especially if you're prone to squeezing.

I'm so scared that I'm going to have scarring, because I tend to pop my zits. I hate walking around with a big ole whitehead hanging off my face...it's so much easier to just pop and get rid of the yucky puss. Sorry for being so graphic....

my chin is a MESS right now ...and there's a huge boil beneath the skin on my ear. Gross...why, why?!

my dermatologist told me that you can actually squeeze the whileheads. once they are really white you don't get scars from it apparently. I was kinda surprized about that

Sounds like a cystic pimple which (in my experience anyway) is hormonal in nature. The last thing you want to do is squeeze a cystic pimple - you can spread the infection which will lead to more pimples. I use Boscia products and the few cystic pimples I get heal much faster now. Whatever you do, just avoid touching/squeezing it :flower:

I've read that as well. There are even instructions on acne.org

I would add that you should wash your hands before and after :flower:

It took me 4 years to pluck up enough courage to go to my doctors. For some reason I was scared to go because I was convinced that I'd be told it was for lack of hygeine or something, but I think she said that its mainly a hormone imbalance. Plus both my parents skin is pretty bad.

Mine wasn't widespread, just on my chin and my nose. I'm now on zineryt (I think thats what its called) and start 3 months worth of antibiotics next week. But I have pretty extensive scarring all over my chin, forehead, well my whole face really, even without picking, but I'm told that one day they will fade of their own accord? Make up covers most of them but right now I'm fighting the urge to wear make up and i'm letting my skin 'breath' if you like.

Has anyone tried flaxseed oil?
If so and it had good effect, where's the best place to get it and how did you take it? :ninja:

^ I was just about to ask about that actually. There seems to be more treatments for women to help with acne than men. E.g the pill. It's unfair, surely there's something that works with male hormones effectively to reduce acne?

ok i'm sure that this has been asked before, so i'm sorry for bringing it up again :S but for those of you who have used ProActiv, what do you think? does it really work--or does it work for a specific skin type?

my skin is quite oily and my problems are occasional cystic pimples and some black/white heads, but i think my biggest problem is scarring. does ProActiv cure this or does it just make it worse? i heard that there's benzoyl peroxide in it and it makes your skin more sensitive or something...true?

i would love to hear you guys' experiences because i've heard a lot of good stuff about it and i think i want to try it. i'm just sick of having to wear makeup ALL THE TIME and being deathly afraid to go swimming in public!! i've also thought of resorting to birth control pills--i've heard from numerous girls that it not only cleared up their skin but gave them bigger boobs as well (hurrah!)!! thoughts?

OK...I used to have really bad skin, oily, pimples and red hurting skin, and I really wanted to try everything and so I tried Proactive, and at frist my skin started to change but then i just went back to its old state, and when I stopped using the stuff it just got worse. So please don't spend your money on it!!!

So I went to my doctor and he gave me birth control pills, yasmin. Some ppl say it's really bad for you and can give you all sorts of bad stuff, but my french doctor told me to have my norwegian doctor to take some blood tests on me to be sure the pill wasn't bad for me. And after a while my skin cleared up. And also I would rather listen to a doctor than Jessica Simpsons and Proactive.:innocent:

This is me before I started on the pill, I'm using loads of makeup here:

And this is me now:

My boyfriend's got bad skin, not very bad but he's got pimples nearly all the time, and yeah he once asked me if he could have one of my pills^^ haha But I have this stuff that I got from my doctor, and it dries out the pimples, but my boyfriend is such a lazy as*s :lol: he never remembers to moisturize which is just so important..^_^

Your skin is perfect, I am now officially jealous of the pill. Haha.
I'll also add that I do moisturise most of the time and I'm on antibiotics for my acne but I think I need some topical treatment too that encourages skin cells to shed.
Yup :)

I'll give you the name of the stuff I put on my boyfriend, and I have something from Clinique that make my skin cells to shed and make new ones^^ I'm not sure if it's something similar for men.. It's something anti aging I think..
