yeah i understand makeup is bad for your skin period but i cant just go out with bad skin. Its an evil cycle.

anyway i bought extra strength aspirin to make the mask and my skin is stable now. I also bought Persagel 5%(bp) for night treatment.
Yeah it's pretty stupid that when you have bad skin, you want to use make up to hide it, but then it's bad for your skin and it doesn't help you at all, but when you have good skin, you doesn't have to use makeup, or at least not foundation.

hey guys :)
haven't been on this site for a long time....
nothings changed T_T After my few trys with Minoxycline, which worked wonders the first time, then sucked the second time, i used Nature's Cure ( the BP and homeopathic pills) for a while, and it worked well at first, ( still not completely clear skin though. just less breakouts) and then about two months ago my skin started getting more and more bumpy and pimply.
Now, i just finished my month's worth of Yazmin... but my skin completely purged and caused huge pimples/inflamations everywhere. My doctor said that the hormone dose wasn't strong enough for my body ( due to other body symptoms) and recommended me going on Diane 35. I did some research, seeing it's quite the hardcore acne fighting pill, but there are sooo many side effects T_T. apparently weight gain, depression, migraines, and moodiness often accompanies this pill. However, most people also saw clear skin from this pill.
sooo i took my first one today, and was wondering if any of you guys have ever tried it?
how long did it take for you guys to see effect? and bad side effects? ah i'm nervous but excited at the same time!

also, for treating the remaining acne on my face, are there any good pimple creams that you guys recommend? i live in canada and we .. don't have the cool Europen brands that you guys have ^^. soo, i'm hoping for some drugstore brands that i can access easily. I've used differin, benzacline, and clindoyxl before from the prescription brands. I think Differin was the most effective, but i haven't had time to go to the dermatologist.

thanks guys!! :) much appreciated

Hi^^

I've tried yasmin and diane, and I would say that diane worked so much better than yasmin, but my skin did get better after yasmin too, just not perfect.

I don't know about the side effects I can never really tell because I feel moody, and fat all the time . But the good thing is that you shouldn't stay on that pill for too long, and also you shouldn't just use it as birth control so if your skin gets better (which I hope) you can just stop using it.

I have a cream at home, and I'll give you the name.

loonaka, did you stop with the pill after you face got better? and how long ago was it, because your skin is gorge now! :)

I personally had a bad trial run with the pill/patch a while back (I'm sensitive to side effects I suppose) but everyone's different. I may start going in the tanning bed sparingly, even though I have dry skin already..

Yeah of course everyone is different^^ And no I didn't stop since I got a boyfriend  But I went back to yasmin again (after Diane) because my doctor gave it to me..so I kinda stopped using the strongest one, but I didn't get yasmin for my skin, it's just for birth control..

^ Ahh okay thank you! :flower: I've actually heard more good things about yasmin (and yaz?) than bad.

I've only heard bad things  But I guess it can't be that bad when they're selling it and doctors are handling out receipts for it..

thanks loonaka! yah, i'm solely using the diane35 for skin and not for protection, so it should be fine.
i think if i gave yazmin a few more months it would have gotten better, but the initial purge was horrifying. also, the doctor said it wasn't strong enough for me ( for skin purposes ) because it screwed around with my menstrual cycle too, but that's a whole different story.
today's going to be my third day on diane35! i'm so impatient, i want it to work now. hahaha. i'm thinking of taking it for around 6 months, because i think it's recomended to continue taking it 2 months after your skin completely clears to make sure.
:) thanks for the recommendation, letthemeatcake, of the nelson and bach acne gel, i'll check it out.

I'm glad to hear that you got Diane, and I hope it will work for you as well as it has for me ^_^
BTW did you get any antibiotics? I got some, and also something called Dalacin, it's really good to put on pimples, it dries them out. I use it every time I have one, and also on my boyfriend^^. There's also a cream that I got from my doc in France it's called Basiron AC 5%..made my skin change after a week, the creme and the pills.
Let me know how it goes? ^_^

me too, i really hope it works. i hope the change of hormones from yazmin to diane is going to be okay. i already got that month of purgy-ness. i hope that's enough T_T don't make me suffer another month of purging from diane pleaseee haha.
Ummm. the only antibiotics that i've tried are the oral ones, Minoxycline i think. My cousin used the Septa-something, i think i have the name wrong, but her skin went from TERRIBLE to BEAUTIFUL. haha, if diane doesn't work.. mabye i'll try that. i've tried numerous of the prescribed ointments like differin, clindocyl, benzaclin etc. those were okay. ooh, i'll ask my doctor about dalacin next time i go :)
so far, i find my skin to be reallly dry, but it's been dry since i used the BP from the Nature's Cure kit. it's uber drying!!! i need to find some new on-the-spot treatment.
thanks! i def will check in with you guys and tell you how it goes.

btw, i scar really easily... do u guys have any recommendations for them? i've used bio-oil but i don't think i agreed with my skin because i still had acne.
my skin seems to recover REALLLLY slowly from everything. someone told me it has something to do with iron deficiency in the body? i dont know. i want to change it though !

I previously wrote how Cetaphil was doing wonders... but  my acne is back... and I've now just realized that it might have been the antibiotics I was on during the time I used Cetaphil... and after I stopped taking antibiotics my acne came back

So the question is... does antibiotics treat acne?

I don't have many scars and the ones I have are lit very small tone differences on my skin, but I think that some kind of scrub or going to a professional skin person :innocent: sorry don't remember the name..can do something to take it away, but I wouldn't do that till your skin is cured for the acnes...

One word; YES.

That's one of the main treatments for acne - your GP will prescribe antiobiotics to tackle the bacteria which causes acne - Propionibacterium acnes.
I'm on a course of oxytetracycline but there's plenty of others. It would have helped, yes :)

Dont use bio-oil on your face if you're acne-prone. It's first ingredient is mineral oil. very occlusive and comedogenic (causes comedones, aka blackheads, clogged pores)

i think i'm going to clear up the acne first before trying bio-oil again. :) i think it does work for clearing scars though, cause for the period that i did apply it on my face, it faded a few of the older acne scars.. along with making my face more greasy.
you're soo lucky to be scar-free. hahahaa i hate scars. they are more stuborn to get rid of than pimples.
thanks for the feedback anyway

I must warn people, use antibiotics with caution!! I know a small amount wont "hurt" you, but they get rid of the good bacteria in your system (as well as bad) which can lead to health problems. Just be sure and get lots of dairy probiotics afterward :flower:

^Most definitely. I was so ecstatic when my skin became clear because I took penicillin after I got my wisdom teeth pulled. I knew it wouldn't last, but it was nice to be clear for a couple weeks.
