The Acne Thread

I just started using Mario Badescu products last night ( i have not gone on roaccutane yet as i was in thailand) and already my acne has shrunk alot more then normal! I am so pleased with the products already :)

And I use Sun Sense Daily Face matt formula for a moisturizer and sunscreen, its really good too doesnt leave your skin oily at all

I bought Derma E's glycolic cleanser on a whim yesterday, and when I went home that night I tried it and did it exactly according to the directions. I'm not gonna get my hopes up but when I woke up this morning some of my red marks honest to god looks better. I was looking for a new cleanser anyway but if these results keep holding up I may have found a new staple.

does anyone here use witch hazel? i just bought some distilled witch hazel (not sure if that makes a difference?) the other day and have been using it twice daily. the first couple of days i thought i saw some improvement but all of a sudden i just broke out a little bit... maybe from dryness from using it too much. have any of you seen results with it?

^Yes it worked miracles on my skin, but you MUST use a moisturizer afterwards. It is quite drying, so you might want to purchase the witch hazel formula for dry skin instead!

how do you use witch hazel?

is it like a cleanser and smother it on your face and wash it off(with a wash cloth?)

its liquidy then? i keep thinking its an oil. i guess ill be stopping by a drugmart this week.

^ No it's not like oil....more like water, very thin, very liquidy and very astringent. I like it as a toner.. I have one that's witch hazel and ginger together and it's amazing, so cleansing.

^ I'm not an expert but I don't think you have to avoid your eye area.. actually i remember reading somewhere that witch hazel can be very good for relieving puffiness around the eyes. obviously you'd need to be careful as with anything around sensitive areas like the eyes, but I always swipe the cotton pad over my eyelids and have never experienced any irritation or anything..

It's a water-like toner, but I personally still think you should avoid your eye area. Witch hazel ALONE may be good for relieving puffiness on the eye area, but the witch hazel formula is always mixed with a concentration of alcohol- very bad idea to put alcohol on thin and delicate parts of your skin. Ice is a lot better for reducing puffiness.

I'd try to avoid using witch hazel around the eye area.

I'm in need of a new face was, does anybody have any good recomendations?

I've used Mario Badescu products before and it really did wonders for my skin (literally overnight). However, after a month or two my skin got used to the products & they just stopped working. I'm thinking of going back to the brand though, which products are you using?

I brought 3 products off ebay ( I thought i may as well buy a few to try).. I tried the Special Cleansing Lotion "c", the drying lotion and the buffering lotion. I like them so far and I'm going on roaccutane in about a week so I wont use them much after but glad to have the good products while my skin purges on roaccutane

I use MB's drying lotion, but someone on another forum said to go to the site and fill out the questionaire and they will contact you with a program/schedule AND send out samples.

I especially like the masks, the glycolic foaming cleanser (I use it on the Clarisonic brush) & the special cucumber (??) toner. They also sent out an eye cream, sunscreen & acne cleanser :woot:

Fabulyss- my skin is pretty much the same way but finger's crossed...

I loved MB's products as well, the drying lotion seemed to really work. However after a month or so my skin completely broke out- the alcohol in the product completely dried my skin out. I have suffered from acne for around 12 years now, the only thing that has helped me is taking vit e + fish oil tablets as well as using benzoyl peroxide twice a day, and the usual- lots of water, fruit, veg and exercise. My skin is now completely clear.

has anyone tried "Bio-Oil"? it has this ingredient called Purcellin oil and it's supposed to moisturize and fade scars.. i just bought a bottle from the drugstore and am wondering if it's any good, or just another cosmetic placebo...

^ I used this, can't really use it in daytime cos it is greasy even when it says it isn't. Can't use it with my moisturisers either cos they seem to combine and solidify on my face..

mehh.
