^I agree. When you have to qualify sexy with something like brainy or intellectual, it automatically suggests a sub-category or some sort of 'alternative' form of sexy. And I'm not saying there's something wrong if you prefer that type of sexy (I think I do too) but when one thinks sexy, 99.9% of the time it's a dress that was posted in the first post, not one of Prada's creations.
As for the topic of this thread, I think it's telling that all of the dresses posted as representative of those brands are at least 5 or so years old. All three of the brands seem to have evolved or moved on from that image, unfortunately. Whether it's because of the client wanting something else these days or if it's just because the designers are just wanting to take the brands in a new direction, for some reason "obvious sexy" is not high fashion at the moment. Now that I got to thinking, I couldn't even tell you what is the 'sexy' brand of today. Dolce has been doing same Sicilian thing for two years now. Valentino's clients are 12 year olds it seems. Balmain is doing that over the top sexy but it's more separates than dresses. Perhaps Pucci?
Bravo!
The perception of "sexy" changes from time to time! No matter how much we argue about it, we all have our own opinions about what is sexy and what is not. I see sexy in people's mannerisms; it's something that comes from the inside and no matter what you wear, if it's not coming from within, then it doesn't exist for me. But that's me.
If I have to pick... let's go with: Antonio Berardi and Dolce & Gabbana - different kinds of sexy!
