Hot Versace Dress! Sexy Or Skanky?

Well.. comment on these:
1. I don't like it. It's like a mermaid on acid.
2. It's half-decent. Not much to it.
3. Looks cheap
4. Similar to #3... could it be any lower?
5. It's not bad
6. It has potential on someone else.. not Dewi... maybe marija or even liya
7. What is somebody didn't wanna show off their boobs so much? Do not dance in this dress (among many others in this set).
8. First impression: "It's not bad." Then I realized the entire thing seems to be see-thru. Next!

I second Lena's comment... there are better houses that make better dresses.

Hey.. do you peeps like this?? Do you think that it's sexy or skanky.. I did a similar sort of post on vogue.com.au and the majority of the reply was that they thought it was SKANKY!!! They also said that it depends on the wearer who makes it look sexy, skanky.. which I agree with.. but this dress on Dewi is so HOT!!  So yeh.. just wanna see what you peeps think!!

Definitely sexy, i think if you have the body for it..... go for it

Well.. comment on these:

Not very keen on the floaty see-thru material used, especially when you can see the undies. Not my personal style, i'm much more classier than these dresses :flower:

Alot of them are much more hyped up than they deserve

erhhmm not my kind of sexy sorry,

i find them all a bit 'skanky' like trying a bit far too hard :innocent: :ninja:

The last time I loved any Versace eveningwear was F/W 03. That whole collection was sexy, sophisticated, and, strange for Versace, practical. For the most part, the evening dresses wear beautiful. Some of the details were great. Here are a few examples of sexy, not skanky.

From left to right.....

1) A nice mix of lace and lacing.

2) Beautiful details in the bodice, and the train is kinda pretty.

3) Amazing detail, the picture doesn't do it justice, not too easy to wear though.

4) Without the slit, this dress would be perfect. Great color, not over done.....not too revealing.

I think this was the last season that Versace wasn't pushing sexy too far, these dresses IMO are all sexy, but they're not too skin baring which is what keeps them from being sl*tty.

i used to be a big versace fan but the more i became aquainted with other brands i realised how bad quality versace clothes actually are

nowdays looking at the menswear i just look at how cheaply everything is knocked out not to mention bad fabrics......and no sence of coordination.

most of the womenswear is equally bad quality......£3000 dresses with the front seams not sewn together properly

and as for the handbags this season  no words can describe the badness

The handbags for F/W 03 were great. That's when the "biker" bag came out, u know the crecent shaped one with the zippers. Also there was a croc clutch that was really nice.

yea.........how did they get from a/w03 to s/s04
i cant understand where it went wrong

I totally agree. When I first started getting interested in fashion, I thought Versace was the epitome of cool. The brand has degraded with each season, and, IMO, is cheap-looking and ugly.

Love it. Dewi looks Versacelicious.
Really.. you love it??

Hmm.. okay well I want you peeps (if you really want to) to find me a VERSACE long floor length dress (not couture) that says Sexy to you.. there has to be at least one..

I can see where you are all coming from now tho.. that short black dress is very chic and modern business womanish.. I love that one you posted brian.. it's amazing.. but I want to see what a 'sexy' floor length dress is to you peeps?? [/b][/quote]
For some people- the answer would be a nun's habit. :P

Anyway- I agree with whoever said the dress would look better minues the studs or minus the slit. I think the cut-down-to-the-belly dresses are a little tired.
If I had the cash there would be some Versace dresses in my closet I'm sure. I like #1, 2 and 7 on your previuos list.

Some women like to have all eyes on them at certain events- and I don't think there's a damn thing wrong with that.

I couldn't agree with that more, but why do you want all eyes on you? Because you look incredibly stunning or because you look cheap?

I think this dress is fabulous. It's innovative and sexy. For the perfect occassion, I would totally wear it. I definitely don't think it's a dress for everyone. There's not a whole lot there in the top, and it would start to look skanky if you were over flowing with breasts... Luckily, or unluckily that's not a concern for me, lol

I find it interesting how strongly some of you feel about this dress... Good or bad... verrrryy interrresting..

Sorry I'm late, but:

1) The originally posted dress (black halter, zebra print, plunging neckline) is an "exotic dancers" dream.

2) Do people still use the term "peeps"? If so, I'm feeling very old right about now.

they're all alright. donnatella seems to be doing the same thing over and over.

but i do like this one...

does it need to be Versace? :innocent:
It needs to be Versace in order to be skanky :ninja:

Noting against Versace, I love Versace... but it's the truth

I just saw Saturday Night Live yesterday, and the comedian playing Donatella Versace was wearing this dress, but in red. I'll see if I can find a picture...
I couldn't find the dress that I was thinking of, but these did turn up.
:innocent:

I KNOW!!!!

I didn't mean to stir up such a controversial issue!! But i suppose your ganna get that with every dress you post in a "Sexy or Skanky" article!

I mean.. I personally find PRADA to be something that my great great great grandma would wear... = too old!! but THATS ME!!

But I'm guessing that 60% HATE IT & the other 40% LIKE IT

If you guys think that is skank why don't you take a look at what 8 year olds are wearing down the street. Honestly. I've seen a number of people wear less then that at an award show. Christina's wrap around 'scarf' top was skank, Britney's 'I wanna be punk' look was skank and shocking. Versace screams glam and that's what it is. Example 1. Beyonces dress in her 'Me, myself and I' film clip, revealing but tasteful. Example 2. Angelina Jolie at the Academy awards, again a little revealing but not skank, not tack. If you saw a beautiful woman step onto a red carpet wearing that accompanied by hundreds of Cartier diamonds and a pair of Gorgeous Marc Jacobs shoes what would your reaction be then?
