The City

I'm guessing Olivia didn't want to support Whitney because she's read the horrible things Whitney has said about her in various interviews. Of course on the show Olivia can't address the issue so it looks like she's just hating on Whitney for no reason.

See, I really don't get this. I believe that they're all aware and play a part to a certain (large) extent. That show is made up of actors i.e Roxy, opportunists who want exposure like Whitney's ex 'boyfriend' and his band

I definetley think some of the animosity isn't contrived but I don't think Whitney or Olivia are sworn enemies in 'real life' because I think they have a life outside this which doesn't revolve around getting one over the other which is pathetic. It's a show created for dramatic purposes and without a b*tch character or tension, nobody would watch and people like Olivia would have no relevance in the show, she needs to earn that pay-check

I genuinely think Whitneys line is horrible and not up to the standards of an Elle tiered magazine, except for a small crappy online/supplement thing. The show depicts Whitneys world where the fashion industry (bizarrely) love her and she 'dates' douchy men.

Having Olivia dislike the line is Elles way to covertly make sure it doesn't end up heavily featured as, I do not believe for one moment that Olivia Palermo has any influence whatsoever over the content of the magazine or of any main features online

The jobs are fake but there is no script-- everyone involved with all of MTVs shows-- The Hills, Laguna Beach..etc--has said as much. Basicially scenarios are set up and MTV records their genuine reactions so the words that come out of the character's mouths are their own.

Whitney would really have to be taking her "character" to the extreme to trash Olivia the way she does during interviews outside the show. This is why I find Whitney a bit duplicitous. She realizes she's the star ( at least on paper) of the show so she can get away with her rude comments off the show then on camera play the whole innocent "I don't get why Olivia is so mean to me!" She reminds me of Heidi who went on a tabloid rampage trashing Lauren off the show but on the show was all "Gee, why won't Lauren talk to me?"

On The Hills MTV knew Lauren wanted nothing to do with Heidi so what did they do? They kept setting up scenarios where Heidi would show up wherever Lauren was and then they could get some good drama out of Lauren's reaction. I think they are doing the same thing on the City. Why else do Whitney and Olivia's worlds keep colliding? The fashion world is a lot bigger than they make it seem on this show. In reality Olivia and Whitney would probably never have to see each other.

I actually really think Olivia hates the line. Olivia has impeccable taste and I couldn't see her wanting to wear any of Whitney's clothes.

^ she may hate it but my point is, the City suggests that an insignficant person like Olivia has the power to decide if something goes in or out. That is not true at all, she would have zero imput as to content.

well if there aren t anymore jobs in fashion in new york then the world s definitly coming to an end.
but i like i said in a previous post, when u have money it s easier to fund ur own label and hire people
alos a lot of internships are actual jobs that should be paid, but those hiring won t do it to save money. which is bad for the interns but what can u do.
obviously what s being showed in the city is completely false and nothing like reality

i'm watching the new episode...best quote, Kelly Cutrone: "who gives a f--- of what she said?" ahahahaha love her! love Olivia's stlye but this time...seriously...she's acting again like she's the director of the whole magazine!
and again that's a proof these aren't really working..at least not Olivia..in real world..you don't show up to your job..next day you're FIRED!

Seriously, regardless this is all fake and just a tv show I was really pissed off by what Olivia (or her character to say correctly) did this episode. This is so disgusting!

She should work on her interviewing skills, awful with the jewelry designers thats for sure.

^ My guess is she did not major in broadcast journalism in college....

I cannot beleive that I cannot find anywhere online I can watch this. Youtube have banned uploads, MTV will not let you watch. You can only view if you are in USA.

I find it very coincidental that the people on the show raving over Whitney's line all have ties to Whitney/MTV. Teen Vogue- Whitney's internship was filmed for MTV, WWD- -Whitney did summer internships with them in the past, Elle-- contract with MTV.They are creating the false impression that everyone but Olivia LOVES Whitneys' line.

^ That's a good point....as if she is so brilliant on her own...

I hate that they changed the mtv site, before I could watch things on mtv.. not anymore
