The "Classic Black Bag"

I'm not too sure how the Paddington could be inspired by the Birkin/Kelly bags??? Looks a very long way off to me...

I must say that that black Bayswater looks absolutely stunning.I have never seen the black in real life...I love the oak,but I'm thinking this may be a good, classic black bag....

I second you quirkycool I don't see how the paddington was inspired by the birkin/kelly. They are far more different.

Well the lock and the straps that secures the lock on paddington and kelly/birkin are similar so I'm pretty sure that's where the paddington got their idea from.

What the lock ??? the strap???? what strap taht secures the lock the paddington does not have that straps ...they do not look the same or look alike at all and I don't think the paddington was inspired by the birkin. A

Anyway the Phoebe would be the best person to tell us if she was inspired by the birkin when she design the paddington.

Can I get opinions on this bag?
It's a classic black bag, medium sized by miu miu. I think the price is reasonable and it looks fabulous, specially irl. I think it's a bag I won't get sick of...

^ coralmilk, I would say nay as a classic black bag. To me theres nothing special looking about it and I think I have seen bags just like that in cheaper stores.:flower:

I've seen that one before too, coral, and it doesn't justify the price in my opinion.Plus, the ultra structured look is not really classic...it's a current if recurring trend.
I don't like all the blackened silver hardware either. Miu miu has done much nicer bags.

I actually like that miu miu bag, but in PATENT black. The non-patent is a bit flat. But, it's not classic.
I have the bayswater in white and it is divine. It is without doubt the MOST classic bag I own, even in white. You can't go wrong for classic with Mulberry.

for me, THE classic black bag would have to be the Epi Alma. never trendy, always chic ;)

The only thing I don't like about the Epi Alma is that it looks like you can't wear it under your arm - you must always hold it. It is also very hard isn't it? (which gives me a "lunch box" vibe...) What's the material it's made from?

Personally, I think I like bags with structure (somewhat boxy rather than slouchy), but with a reasonably supple matte leather...so it does kind of "give" a little and is comfy when you wear it under your arm...oh yes and it has those handles which tuck nicely under your arm, or in the crook of your arm, or you can hold it.

This isn't a very popular style these days though, is it? :)

yasmin, are you still searching for the perfect black bag?
i dont know if i told you this already, but if i didnt,
you should definitely check out dooney and bourke.

I just bought a black chanel cerf and it is by far the most beautiful, practical, classic bag I own. It is the perfect day bag, and can easily be used for dinners and such. I really only carry clutches when I go out, so I'm not sure I would use it nighttime activities. As a chanel devotee, this is my favorite and it will never too trendy. I think it is nice to have a specific label that you like and stick to it, it really contributes to your personal style.

It was $1850 and it is the older more classic style with the gold cc's. It is a little larger than the new one with the mmselle. clasp, but I think that one is less timeless. The size is perfect for me because I am very small, 5'2" and big bags look really stupid on me.

I would love to see pics of your Chanel cerf. I was thinking about getting it too as I need a day bag, but worried it may look too office-looking on me. The gold cc's sound wonderful..I prefer them over the newer clasp.

No need to worry about that at all vintage_princess!

I wear the cerf with everything, from suits to jeans and it never looks out of place!
Definitely a bag you won't regret getting! B)

P.S By the way, I feel that the cerf is somewhat Birkin-nish...so it is really a good buy till that day when you finally get your own Birkin..not that the cerf is a shabby bag in the first place!

^ Thanks for the advice Chiangsi..I just need to decide what bag im getting and stick to it. Theres a few im considering at the moment. :flower:
