soooo not my style...oh well...when in rome...

at least i'm finally rid of those red stars...i found them rather offensive...i much prefer the gold ones...they are my faves... B) :D

Anybody know anything about Superthrillers? The Colette email mentioned them..."if you liked Scissor Sisters you'll love..." (how designer imposter fragrance). I'd like to get more info.

Speaking of, can't wait to see SS in 2 weeks. Vhs or Beta is opening for them on the tour. They're friends of mine, so if you're going don't miss the opening act...They're great!

"to a de-luxe apartment in the sky"

MP-I know Vhs or Beta, not SS. My original investor invested in them to help get them onto Astrelworks. They're in my social circle as well. I think you would really dig them. Le Funk is their first release from a few years ago, very dancey rock/disco  Night on Fire is a little more guitar driven but still a good time. One review compared it to old Cure which I can only hear on one track. Don't let the title track turn you off. It's good, but very repetitive. The rest of the CD is great! Their shows kick a**!!! They actually have a HUGE following in NYC, anybody here seen them.

At the SS show I'm actually meeting a friend of a friend of a friend  that came over from UK when I see them and she is taking photos. (It's one of the few venues that is allowing cameras)

i'm not going to this show in nyc...no one wanted to go with me...and since i've seen them twice now...i figured i could skip it...

my friend took pics at the show in london...but you really couldn't see anything..too blurry...

I marked the ones I'm killing to see.. the second day is pretty good but if I had to choose like I did this year, I'd choose the first day one more time.

day 1 is clearly the better of the two, but...BowieNet says "Event organizers tell Billboard.com the rumored bill is not correct, and that offers have only recently began going out to prospective bands. What's more, the exact date of the 2005 show will not even be confirmed for another month or so, according to Goldenvoice president Paul Tollett, whose company promotes Coachella."

I do know that Nine Inch Nails is planning a tour to promote the new CD "with teeth."

those are just rumours but then, most rumoured bands at coachella end up confirming their appearances most of the time so..

I think it's weird that the NIN could be doing Coachella..like, it's a different kind of crowd and festival IMO

coachella is this awesome summer festival in Indio (California)..I did a thread about it in April, don't know if it still exists but well, it's more of an 'indie' (hate that word) thing..most bands usually fall into that category or just trip-hop, hiphop, emo crap, alternative, britpop..etc.
Bjork, Radiohead, The Cure, Pixies, Sigur Ros, Aphex Twin, Weezer, Oasis, chemical brothers, the strokes, beastie boys, the chilli peppers, they have all played on it in the past 3 years. It lasts for a couple days, in the middle of the desert with some areas where you can camp...it's great, though extreme temperatures (above 112) can turn it into a real nightmare (personal experience: nose bleeding, dehydration, etc) .

thanks for the info darling...it seems like there is a great music scene in california...

Trent Reznor and David Bowey are tight, one might've asked another to do it as a favor.

So, Laurie Anderson will be hosting an awarad presentation at Parson's next Monday. As a New School student I can go for free. Should I go just to say I met Laurie? I know she is a cult figure in some circles, but I haven't heard much of her music...

LAURIE ANDERSON TO HOST MIXED MEDIA MESSAGES 2004
The 8th annual showcase of outstanding student work produced in the graduate Media Studies Program will be held on Friday, December 10 at 7:00 p.m., at the John L. Tishman Auditorium, 66 West 12th Street. This year’s show will be hosted by Laurie Anderson, critically acclaimed performance artist and musician. The show includes eight outstanding projects produced across media format, including three digital video works, two 16 mm films, one multimedia piece, and two audio works. Three of the winning works are recent student theses. An awards ceremony follows the screening in which the winning students and their faculty will be honored. Admission is free, and no reservations are required.

I don't know much about her either, but the event itself sounds like it would be worth going to. Funny, I have a mental image of her in my head, but can't quite place her music....
