The Face Thread, the Q's and A's about Foundations, Primers, Powders...

Anyone have a foundation rec. for very sensitive, dry skin?

I'm trying to find a foundation that will work for my skin. I have very sensitive skin that is prone to dryness (I have some sort of Dermatitis). In the past the following make-ups haven't worked well for me"

Bare Minerals
MAC Select SPF 15 Foundation

I don't tend to get red, just bumpy and itchy.

Anyone here with similar experiences found a good foundation? Or, just in general, anyone know a good sensitive skin foundation?

I have sensitive skin - sometimes bumpy, sometimes dry, sometimes combination.... I find wearing Chantecaille foundations great - the just skin tinted moisturiser but with a moisturiser underneath, future skin and the real skin compact with spf 30. I find these great in combination with meds from a derm and good quality skincare from la Roche Posay, La Mer lotion and Chantecaille. Hope this helps - I used to wear Clinique superfit foundation before in bare which although was a wonderful colour match was difficult and too dry with reactive skin. Hope this helps!

I have sensitive but oily skin, and use Prescriptives Custom Blend. I know there are several additives though & I assume one is moisturizing (not something I have a need for!). Obviously you can't sample the whole custom foundation, but I bet they would give you a sample of the additives you want to use to see how they work on your skin.

I wonder if taking a supplement like fish oil/evening primrose oil would help your skin?

Firstly, what sort of moisturiser do you use? I have dry, sensitive combo (half of my face is clear, half is prone to cystic acne) skin and switched to Dove Sensitive moisturiser a few months ago and have noticed a huge difference in how my foundation appears.

Makeup Forever HD Foundation is very moisturising and never looks cakey on me. I also like L'Oreall Infalliable when I need more coverage.

I think youshould always try clinique!!! Especially cos they have that little thing in their counters, where you slide along little colour coordinated things in answers to questions.. and it finds your perfect items to buy for your skin!!
You'll know what i mean if you see one!

I have not been impressed by Clinique's "computer" but apparently their testing protocol is good. I believe what I read is that they test with about 1000 users (or 2000?), all with sensitive skin, and if even one reacts, that formula goes nowhere. So it might be worth a try ... I have worn their foundation before, but coverage and color were my issues.

Please look into Chantecaille future skin foundation. I have sensitive skin and this is something that I truely enjoy.

Primers, eyes and face

can anyone recommend an eyeshadow primer and face primer?
both the cheaper drugstore ones and the more expensive ones,
thanks

We already have a thread dedicated to primers. I will merge your topic in.

My dermatologist gave me this, Its very effective on blackheads and small pimples. I was told it was on the spot. What I ended up doing is putting it over the acne prone area as a whole to prevent future breakouts.
I love it. not drying at all. I would choose this over benzoyl peroxyde any day.

^Giorgio Armani's line of foundations are really great for all colours.

Does anyone knows what can I use to highlight some areas of my skin?
I used to use white concealer and it worked perfectly at the beginning but idk why it stopped to create the effect it had at the very beginning...
& I already use the Lancome Flash Retouché but I want something that look more fake, not so natural. Well, not fake but that creates a contrast with my blush:)

Shu Uemura has this face colour which comes in a pot and is a white, shimmery cream to powder formula. PERFECT for a highlight for a sky high cheekbone! I think you'll love this. Everyone I know who uses this does!

nars's albatross and nico blush & Copacabana muiltiple should be a good highlighter, even thought i havent used it myself.
