The Face Thread, the Q's and A's about Foundations, Primers, Powders...

I've been using Nars oil-free liquid foundation. My skin is combination-oily. Although my cheeks are usually normal-dry and at times acne-prone, the Nars foundation seem oil-shiny after a couple hours even after I started using Nars primer. I also use Clinique's spf30 sunblock.... Nars disappoints me , it's arbitrary how my skin will look, sometimes caky, and pores are obvious even more magnified, or smooth. Please help! What brand and what kind of foundation should I try? Powder? I'm a newwbie so please help.

^try Revlon Colorstay for Combination/Oily skin. I know, I know, it is drugstore, but once you try it you will be hooked. Really, it is a very nice foundation, the best I have tried, period. Just don't get the normal/dry skin version, it is not as good.

thanx

thanx modelbehavior, but i've read on Makeupalley that it's hard to get rid of, which means makeup residue on skin will cause acne
i'll probably have to invest more $$ on makeup remover like Fancl cleansing oil (i heard it's superb).

seriously! i never got matched to the same color twice. i mean i know skin colors change by the season but i never went home happy. it just never looks the same as it does in store and then when i went home.

i love my Chanel foundation! i tried it with my foundation brush and it looks much more natural and it still looked great after 4 hours of work. i have normal skin but i have avoided foundation for 3 years because of the oilyness, this one is great! not oily at all.

they also gave me some samples to use..which i did to prep my skin for makeup :
moisturizer : Chanel Rectifiance Intense Anti-Age Retexturizing Fluid SPF15
eye gel : Chanel Precision Age Delay Eye
both are great. i esp love how the moisturizer looks and feels. dewy glow and good amount of moisture. i dont think i need the eye gel as much but its a good base for the concealer. damn them! getting me hooked on more of their stuff!

the Chanel concealer in light is perfect color as well, i prefer to blend with a separate concealer brush instead of fingers. great coverage.

Actually, you can just use cheap cold cream from the drugstore and it will work fine to remove it :)

hmm after comparing my Chanel foundation & concealer to the under eye concealer i used to use. its pretty different.. my Chanel stuff is more yellow while my other concealer was more neutral. i compared both colors on my cheek, i think im more neutral than yellow :( oy vey, i think the Chanel stuff still looks alright so far just a little bit warmer than my skin really is, i still look normal in photos luckily so ill stick with it for now.

does anyone know any brands with with neutral colors?

Has anyone tried Laura Mercier Oil free foundation or oil free tinted moisturizer? I think I may give one of these products a try, but I want to know what you think about them first.

My skin is quite good, although the T-zone is a bit only and I have some blackheads, so I only want a sheer coverage.

I've tried the tinted moisturizer and it was lovely on my dry skin. It
covered imperfections well, gave a dewy glow and the texture was very
creamy without being sticky.
The only reason I stopped using it was because they didn't carry my
colour.

If you have normal or dry skin I highly recommend it,oily skin may find it too shiney.

i talked to my co-worker/friend who also works at the Chanel & Lancome counters. i told her i got matched to Cameo in the Chanel Teint Innocence foundation and she says that she agrees i probably need a foundation that is more cool toned. *le sigh!* i wish she was working that day! but i think the Chanel foundations are probably too yellow for me anyways. ive heard good things about Giorgio Armani foundations for pale skin so ill look into that.

could you guys help me i'm looking for a tinted moisturizer that is good for my skin since i'm too scared to take the foundation plunge...

the problem is my skin is so sensitive! i break out with anything! right now i dont even wear makeup i just use my proactiv and MAYBE some Estee lauder powder if my skin is ultra oily....any suggestions?

Has anyone tried Diorskin Forever? These days I am about to buy a new foundation, medium coverage, oil free, and I wanna try something new. I though this was a good choice? Or maybe Mat Lumiere from Chanel, which I am, honestly, more interested in? Thanks.

Bit of a late reply, but I have very pale skin and I'm really happy with Armani foundations ^_^
I never found one which matched my skin so nicely until I tried this brand..
