The Hair "Down There"

As far as shaving goes...how do you guys do it? I tried it once and it took me 2 hours (I PROMISE you I'm not particularly hairy either). The female anatomy is just so...intricate...I don't know how anyone could regularly shave.

Ugh, seriously. I've tried it so many ways, I've followed a variety of instructions and each time it was messy and painful. But then again, I have a very, uh, sensitive, lower half so even just putting the shaving cream makes my skin feel uncomfortable :(

it's only prickly if you shave. If you wax when the hair grows back it's not bad at all.

Totally. We kept joking about how the moment the woman looks down there she'd make a horrified face or go "Honey, it's not supposed to look like this...". I know for sure I wouldn't be comfortable with a stranger looking down there, but then again, like papa_levante said, they have seen it all.

Anybody know how long you have to grow it out before getting waxed?

I'm way sensitive too! Luckily, my boyfriend doesn't mind and in fact prefers me a bit more natural...a man like that is hard to find! (not that it effects my decision either way) :p

That's great. I've never liked the "bare" look anyway (it's a little prepubescent for my taste) and natural and trimmed is much preferable to the alternative in my case; bumpy, red and diseased looking

That's so true. It's so p0rn star of me to have shaved it all off, but I figure it's easier to "work with" sans any hair.

This post reminded me of the "Keeping Up With The Kardashian's" episode, where Kourtney talks about doing her own waxing LOL. I have my own wax machine, but I'm quite honestly frightened to try that myself. Maybe one day! :woot:

For those who wanted to know what sugaring was... Here is a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugaring_(epilation)

ugh. i got sugared once and it was the most painful horrifying thing ever. I much prefer waxing. The woman I go to is excellent.

The first time you try it it is painful as with all waxes, but unlike other wax sugar wax does not stick to your skin so it hurts less. Perhaps the person who waxed you did not have enough experience?

I agree. If there is no hair at all, it looks very prepubescent. Whenever I've spoken with others about this, someone has always said 'I like it completely bare because it is more natural.' Erm... since when was growing pubic hair unnatural?

I'm gonna go with waxing here. It's the only part of my body i get waxed, i can't imagine trying to get it saved. I'd be such a mess!

I remove hair by sugaring, so much better than wax! Less messy & less painful.

Oh my! :ninja: I shaved it this morning because there'll be a boy coming over today. :shifty:

What's bad about shaving is when it grows out, it feels like the side of a face of a lumberjack.

lol, i find this thread quite entertaining!
when going back every four weeks for waxing, does it have to all be completely grown? my waxing lady said this was about time frame, but there are always little not grown in ones here and there haha, even after like 6 weeks. i dont want to waste money

Well, a wax isn't effective unless it can attach itself to each hair so that when it's all pulled, all the hair grows back evenly without patches in certain spots.

lol there arent quite patches, but some hairs arent nearly as long or just growing in compared to the others. i need a wax though! haha

^ omg i could do anything about it, and omg it looklike a brown poof.....
i just want it to be like over all thinner...

Shave and or trim, but don't prefer to go fully natural.

Neither do I but I shaved it all last night. I do like it all gone but not during my period. Even messier then.:rofl:

I'm always at war with shaving down there (I only shave the "sides" - yeah, I know, I'm old :ninja:). I'm always getting the worst painful and itchy irritated skin the next day, no matter what I tried: applying different lotions, soaking in bath before for hours, not getting dressed after shaving to prevent irritating.

But I think now I've found the (not so original sounding) solution: a sharp and good razor. Forget all those lady shaving thingies, buy the newest men products. I've used the Gilette Fusion now twice (a tip from my boyfriend :D), and I only had some minor irritating, in fact not worth mentioning. For the first time! I love it!

Alright, it might be a bit strange, but can anyone explain to me why women need to shave?

What's wrong with the natural hair?

Well, I only shave what would be visible on the sides when wearing a bathing suit or slip. Why? Because I think it looks ugly and unkempt. As for brazilians or going naked - that's not my cup of tea, but to each their own. In fact there's no big difference with shaving your armpits, why do so many women (including me) do this? Thinking even further, couldn't one also ask why men shave their beards? It IS natural, isn't it? ^_^
