I guess my tips would be to try to avoid beauty therapists based in hair salons and perhaps try somewhere that seems to have a decent staffing level, that way "rush jobs" can be avoided.:flower:

i tried this veet thing, where you put cream on for 3 mintues, max. 6 and then you wipe it off with this tool thing. it worked pretty well considering that i wasnt supposed to use it "down there" but otherwise i just shave and it works pretty well.

can anyone recommend a salon/beauty therapist for a brazilian in melb, australia? I don't think i could face up to my regular waxer!! haha im SUCH a prude (blame my mum)

i know its obvious but im just checking- when you get a brazilian there is NO HAIR LEFT. none whatsoever? not underneath..on the sides..nothing?? how do you cope with the embarressment factor? you're just so exposed..do you feel embarressment or not really? :ninja:

Thats called a Hollywood. A brazilian leaves a strip of hair. It is just so much more neater then a regular bikini wax.

I get something inbetween a regular bikini wax and a Brazilian. I love it! I wish I could afford to get it done more frequently. I go to the woman who's been doing my eyebrows and massages for 8 years - she's a real esthetician, and I trust her to do a good job (her eyebrow waxes are a work of art) and I'm not embarrassed around her with the nudity aspect, because I've been seeing her for so long.

ok i need ur advice i have never got "down there" waxed i usually trim it with a scissors but i swear u would think i have underwear on if u seen me naked lol

I've heard (and it makes sense) that you shouldn't try to give yourself a "real" bikini wax - like don't go anywhere near the labia. It's really easy to accidentally hurt yourself. Just do what shows outside of your panties.

Personally, for doing my own waxing of legs and stuff, I adore Moom - it's an all natural brand, that's just sugar, chamomile, tea tree oil, and I think maybe lemon. So you're not waxing, but sugaring, but the results are the same. It's easy to use, easy to clean up (MUCH easier than wax, it dissolves completely in warm water) and I've never had an adverse reaction. I did burn myself once though, when I heated it too much and dropped some on my leg.

thanx il try and find out where i can get it maybe a health shop? i hope i can find it sounds great!

What is the difference between waxing and sugaring? I know they are different and I'm sure I could look it up but just wondering people's opinions other than what Anastasia posted above :flower:

For those of you that get waxed, how long does it usually last before the hair grows back? I know it can be pretty expensive so I was wondering how often you'd have to get one to keep it up.

I usually go once every four to six weeks and do the odd touch up myself.

has anyone used any epilators? i'm thinking of buying one but don't know which to get. one that preferably doesn't make much noise as i'm at uni that could be rather embaressing hehe. also one that people found doesn't hurt too much? thanks!

I've had an epilator from Braun, now I have one from Philips, and I can say that they are fairly noisy... But I don't see why you would be embarrassed if someone hears any noice? There are all sorts of appliances that make noice, so it could be anything really...

It does hurt to rip out hairs, it's something you'll have to live with, but you'll get used to the sensation eventually... My advice is to do it fast, it's less time spent in pain. Doing it slowly isn't more efficient or anything.

My Philips one has a kind of "massage" attachment that is supposed to sort of diffuse the pain, but it doesn't really work IMO.

I shave "down there" at least twice a week. I used to get a lot of ingrown hairs when I used a special shaving cream for that area. But then I switched to just plain soap and it seems to be working a lot better!

^^ Yes, that's because getting waxed is like pulling a bandaid, it's almost over before you know it. That's also why I say "go fast" with an epilator.

The thing about doing things yourself is that you don't have to expose yourself to strangers, or have them see your "problem areas"... :p
