has anyone used any epilators? i'm thinking of buying one but don't know which to get. one that preferably doesn't make much noise as i'm at uni that could be rather embaressing hehe. also one that people found doesn't hurt too much? thanks!
epilators are going to make noise, I don't think there are any quiet ones.

I used to live with my male cousin. And one time he made a comment about how it seemed that every time my boyfriend was going to come over, I'd lock myself in the bathroom for an hour with something that made a ton of electric, vibrating noise.

I had to go get the epilator for him to show him what it was.

p.s. (I hope this isn't tmi, it's meant to be funny!)

^^ Yes, that's because getting waxed is like pulling a bandaid, it's almost over before you know it. That's also why I say "go fast" with an epilator.

The thing about doing things yourself is that you don't have to expose yourself to strangers, or have them see your "problem areas"... :p

I guess because I always found waxing pretty much pain free I just stuck with it.

After having to expose myself to four Dr's (male) and a midwife during child labour having to do it in front of a beauty therapist is like a piece of cake;)

i use the braun silk epil...
best thing ive ever bought...!!!
it hurts the first few times...then your hair starts to grow back very finely, and it gets less and less painful.... i dont even notice it anymore....

i cant recommend it enough....
fantastic...!!!

Has anyone tried shaving with an electric razer...the kind that men use on their faces; the ones that don't cut the skin. Or electric clippers? Logically, those would work without issues like nicks. Or is that too easy to work?

I'm a trimmer/shaver myself. Don't like to be completely clean shaven, but I like to be extremely groomed and trimmed. No messy scraggly hairs here!

i may try this...shaving and waxing irritate the skin around my wobbly, nether bits WAY TOO MUCH! lol

Hey guys,
I've given up shaving because it gives me shaving scars and I'm seriously considering doing my own waxing. Any recommendations on waxes, how to wax, etc?

i just buy the nair roll on sugar stuff...but buy extra strips, because they dont give you nearly as many as they should...shave all but a 1/4 in of hair off..or it will hurt like a %*&!$# when applying the was..of course apply in a downward motion; and when you pull the strip..make sure u pull the exact opposite direction, NOT up or you will only prolongue the torture...and somtimes when im sensitive, i have frozen compress' next to me to reduce inflamation in the area..and when im done i always put aloe vera gell in the area...

^i find the roll-on messy and inefficient...
if i wax, i buy the nair cold wax with the wax already on the strips...
just another suggestion...:)

and tatika is right- pull in the opposite direction, and pull quickly!!...
hold your skin tight and just RIP.......it wont be that bad....
aloe vera is also a great suggestion....

i am quite young, so I have young skin...should I not do anything because of that? I also have quite sensitive skin.

You would be best going to a salon and asking a beaty therapist.

Things like shaving, depilatories, and epillation aren't impacted by the age of your skin. Young skin is perfectly well suited for all of these processes.

The only time it matters that your skin is young is when it comes to UV exposure. It is better for younger people to use sunscreens than older people. And that's just because it will help prolong the length of time that you have nice skin. Once it's old skin, there's not much you can do to make it better.

errr.... on all the intimate parts? I mean, can you perform a brazilian sort
of wax with it?

I am self-brazilian waxer but it's too much of a hassle.
Having to wait for the hair to grow out again and spending several or more hours doing it.... my technique is very lousy and I'm too shy to get it done
in a salon.

There are products that are supposed to take the "sting" out of getting rid of hair down there. This one called Pre-kini might have some benefit.

iva...
i havent tried to do a complete brazilian with it...
i go a little futher each time...
and then wax whatever else i want off...;)

I just tried using an epilator for the first time. It really hurt my legs and I want to try it to remove ALL my hair from down there. Does anyone do this? Any tips on how to do it? I have low pain tolrence in that area so any ideas would be great.

I'll have to go through this thread. I've tried shaving and DEAR LORD the shaving bumps afterwards hurt!!!!

Seriously, it wasn't worth it for like 2.5 seconds of smoothness. I haven't tried waxing because I'm afraid the same irritation will occur :(

chic....just keep it up on your legs....do it every few days, or whenever the hair has grown long enough to be removed by it....the more you do, the finer your hair will grow back, and each time less will re-appear....

do the same with your bikini line- start slow....
do a little more each time...build up your tolerance....i promise you'll get used to it :flower:

I get waxed. I hate the way it feels with shaving. Plus I find shaving gives me heaps of nasty ingrowns, waxing only gives me one or two. Plus now that I've been getting it done for a few years the hair is a lot softer and there's not so much of it. Waxing is definitely the way to go for me.

And if you want something that really lasts, waxing is the way to go too. Check out this scientific study that compared waxing and shaving. These pictures leave no doubts.
