I was pleasantly surprised to find a booklet in this month's Harpers & Queen recounting the history of British Harpers' Bazaar which was launched in the UK in 1929 (it had begun in New York in 1867!).
It was only in the 1970's that Harpers Bazaar merged with Queen magazine because of the latter's fierce competition to become what we now know as Harpers & Queen. It became known for chronicling the gossip of upper class society.
However in the past few years, Harpers & Queen have begun to shift its focus back to its original purpose - showcasing fashion and the arts. So from March 2006, Harpers & Queen will revert back to its original title - HARPERS BAZAAR!
I would highly recommend picking the Feb issue up just for this booklet. A fascinating history with plenty of pics. But if you can't, I've decided to post the pics anyway! I have split them up by decade.
