The Hills

Whitney's show looks like it will be an even more staged version of The Hills with a less relatable and less articulate protaganist. Say what you will about Lauren but at least she emotes and has strong opinions about the people and situations around her. Whitney is so afraid to have an opinion and be disliked that she is noncomittal about every situation. It does not make for good tv to have someone so self-conscious. I have a feeling that the reverence people have for Whitney will disappear once they actually know something about her life.

i agree. whitney's more of a filler character on the hills anyway, so maybe she didn't feel the need to put herself out there for people to see.

Did anyone see the "Lost Scenes" from the Hills? It aired on mtv a couple times yesterday.
They showed some cute scenes:
- Lauren gave Heidi her first Chanel bag for her 20th birthday.
- Whit and Lauren were talking about how they went to Vegas with Brody and Frankie. Lauren was tired so she left the club a little earlier than them. Whitney was telling Lauren how she and Brody kissed, it meant nothing, so she told Brody that. Both the girls were laughing and saying how Brody may be cute and a nice guy, but he's not boyfriend material for either of them.
- That Gavin dude that went to the media talking about Lauren was at Hyde the same night JBob kissed that girl and ShePratt yelled at Lauren. He went up to their table. Lauren told him off being like "why did you talk **** about me like that?" He apologized saying that hehas self-esteem issues and he was pissed that she never texted him back after that date and he assumed she'd make fun of him (on camera) so he had to retaliate. She was pissed! She was like "I never did though". Basically, he didn't like how he was portrayed by the editors.

I read that they are filming through December so a lot of stuff will be carried over into a 5th season.

Seriously? That sucks! I really wanted this to be the last season. I hope Lauren hasn't committed to filming scenes in 2009 as well. Maybe S5 will be like the first season, with only 10 episodes?

Radar interviewed Heidi's mom last year. This just proves she's acting out scenes with her Speidi. She basically says she loves Spencer here and that the editing makes him out to be a bad guy.
On Spencer: "Heidi and Spencer are all about the show. Spencer has given quite a lot of himself to MTV, and they aren't afraid to put themselves out there. But he's not a bad guy at all—that's all in the magic of editing. In fact, he adores Heidi and waits on her hand and foot, and she'd be with nothing less. Of course now it looks like, ew, why would you pick a slime bag over [Conrad], America's sweetheart? But it's not the reality. If things were the way they looked on TV, I would come to L.A. and take Spencer out myself."

people change when there are cameras stuck in their face all the time.
Speidi are definitley those people.

so I know who to make friends with come my birthday

and about last nights episode....

OH MY GOD !!!!
I'm getting so sick of watching Spencer being such an as.shole and inconsiderate of others feelings..

JustinBobby was being soooo childish last night with Audrina's flower.. she wanted it back and he kept saying no and moving his arm away. then he said that "youll never get this back." jesus he might as well be 2 years old.

And with the previews next week with Audrina dumping Corey to go back to Justin? Someone she claims doesnt treat her good while Corey does?

PS. Did anyone watch the aftershow with Dan&Jessi and see the City preview ? :woot:
looks interesting..

The Hills just keeps getting sadder. Because she doesn't really do anything interesting, the MTV reality blah's star, Lauren Conrad, is getting pushed further and further into the background while the wretched and miserable supporting characters—Audrina, Spencer, Spencerina—dance hideously in the fore. This week's installment involved an awkward trip to the booze-smeared party mecca of Cabo San Lucas and an even-awkwarder Dinner With Friends. Sludge on through this with me, if you dare, after the jump.
Audrina, still dimly reeling from the whole "I'm dating Australian Choire (heh) but had naked swimmy time with Justin Bobby" kadoodle, flitted off to Cabo with Lauren and a pack of Brosephs for Brody's birthday bash. Frankie was there, and so was gummy Frozen Burrito Heir Doug, and the brooding Justin Bobby. How conveniently uncomfortable for old Audy! The boys and girls club got crunked, and Audrina had hissy little conversations with JB about who is dating who and what is fair and what is not fair and why does she feel so sad and so alone and so walked-over all the time. Audrina initially existed as that supporting character for whom nothing ever went right so the main character would appear bold and successful in contrast. Except now Audrina is the main character, which just makes the whole endeavor shattering and devastating. If watching an insecure, worrying sadsack get trampled by a parade of ****ty boys is what we're being offered, then I could just watch a rerun of Too Many Girls I Knew Freshman Year At Boston College instead of paying this cable bill.
In the end of this whole debacle, Doug announced that Brody's present would be arriving. It turned out to be a sexy and sexist parade of dimbulb bimbos who smushed their crotches in the boys' faces and made Lauren and Audrina grumble. Well, it made Audrina grumble and crumble, as she watched JB writhe around with someone who was probably named Ashlyn or Valby. Somewhere, across the country in stony Massachusetts, a young woman from New Jersey was sitting glumly on a sofa in Rubenstein while the senior boy she really really likes played Beirut with his buddies while grabbing that girl from his philosophy class's *** and a strange cross-continental astral kinship was formed. You are not alone, dear ladies!
Elsewhere in la la land, Spencer and Heidi—perhaps our faking-it reality couple?—grumpily sat at a restaurant awaiting their guests, sister Spencerina and her mewling little boyfriend Cameron. They were forty minutes late, giving Spencer just the right fuel to glower under his fleshbeard and fix his beady little Mattel doll eyes on Cameron, a former broby of Brody. I don't really even remember what the conversation entailed, except that Spencer brought up Spencerina's former boyfriends and Cameron meekly tried to change the subject by saying "I like... your sister... she makes... me laugh" and my roommate and I shrieked to the high heavens and covered our eyes because it was the most insanely awful thing ever done by a human being. Spencer scoffed in that way of his, and continued to become more and more ceaselessly and needlessly sour. His human form is diminishing and he's turning into a stiff old Sour Patch Kid that you find under your couch while cleaning before your parents come for a visit. Ick.
So cameras swirled and music soared and everyone everywhere felt ugly and mean and sad and lonely. Audrina plummeted further and further, Spencerina whined desperately with her eyes, Heidi sang the song in her head that she's been singing, louder and louder, for the past three years of her life, and the girl at the dorm hopefully came to and left the party and walked outside and felt the crisp October air on her face and took the long way back to the Newton bus and maybe had a nice chat with that sweet boy from the third floor on the way home and somewhere inside gears turned and matter shifted and molecules rearranged and growth happened, small and imperceptible at first, as it always is.
Well, hopefully.
Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully.

I am about to give up on The Hills because this season has gone downhill. This is not even the same show that comprised the first two seasons... the storylines now involves the Pratts, Audrina and JB... a bunch of insipid fools that I cannot sympathize with nor like. Lauren and Heidi are supporting characters now.

I remember when The Hills was a fun show to watch... when Lauren worked at fashion show, met Marc Jacobs, helped out at photoshoots... now its just so stupid...

omg i just remembered.

last night did anyone notice Lauren's shadow stache?
it was towards the end of the episode when Lauren and Audrina were talking, i think LC was wearing a white tank top or shirt.. she had a yellow flower in her hair too..

this is the second time i notcied a little shadow on LC's upper lip

The Hills needs to focus on Lauren again. JBob/Audrina bore me and I could care less for Speidi's sisters.

Lauren was so funny on the aftershow, esp when she said all the "sleazies" came from the local Chillis or Applebees. LOL! She looked gorgeous in that purple dress.

Whitney's show looks faker than the Hills even, but I'll watch it, b/c it will probably focus on fashion/work much more and Olivia is beautiful. I can see her being the breakout star and outshining Whit even. LOL maybe Olivia Palermo will be the next Lauren Conrad (a.k.a. money maker) for MTV. They need someone to bring in the ratings/ad $$.

Whitney was on Entourage over the weekend, it was brief but noticed her.

The City looks like the Hills but more contrived. I don't get why after two season of contributing nothing to The hills the producers felt people would care about her moving to New York?

I can't believe Olivia Palermo would agree to be on an MTV reality show. I guess she's throwing her social rep out the window.

Someone explained it on ONTD that when Laguna first hit, it was a reaction to the success of The OC. And now with Gossip Girl appealing to teens, The City is a reaction to that whole NY/fashoin craze happening.

^ That makes sense. Of course MTV would want to capitalize on the success of GG.

I'm just glad they didn't decide to do a spinoff on Speidi or Audrina. That would've failed miserably.

I was just going to post that :flower: Is she trying to get into acting now?

I saw the preview for the The City on E! and i'm pretty sure they have the same writers from The Hills because Whitney sounded exactly like L.C. "I don't know who to trust" blah blah blah
