The How Do I Get This Look? Thread

For the first look of Amanda,
Makeup Artist: Monika Blunder

Beauty Inspiration:

"The look I was going for Amanda was movie star glamour while maintaining a
young, fresh and modern feel."

Beauty Tip:

For Amanda’s skin, Monika started off moisturizing her with CHANEL
Sublimage Fluid to give her a natural glow. Then she applied CHANEL Teint
Innocence Foundation in Gentle Ivory all over her skin. Monika first lined
her upper and lower lash line with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir,
extending the line past the outer corner and up. Then she blended with a
brush to soften any hard lines. Next, she applied the darkest colour in the
CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Smoky Eyes starting at lash line and blending up
towards the brow bone using a variation of the lighter colors in the
palette. She finished with CHANEL Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Ivory on the
inner corner of top and bottom lash line. To complete the eyes, she curled
the lashes and applied three coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir.
CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Petale gave her a fresh rosy glow on her
cheeks.

Amanda’s look was completed by applying CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip
Colour in Perle.

how do i get my eyes to look like that? every time i try to do a look like this it looks dull and too hard, not as "fresh" as in the picture

^What's your eye color?

I find that on my natural eyes (dark brown), that sort of makeup just makes me look like I got beaten up. When I put in lighter contacts it changes everything. :D

oh you've got a point there! i have hazel eyes. so maybe i'd need to try different make up colours for this...

I have hazel eyes, they are light hazel eyes, but the way i do this is i use shades of brown, and build the brown up, it brings out the green in the hazel, it's much softer and it's still the same effect without looking like you've had two rounds with Ricky Hatton. It's all about building up the colour, from pale to as dark as you would like it xxx
(i got taught how to do it by a professional, i'm terrible at makeup, but i can do a smokey eye lol)

3 minimum :) :) but the woman who was teaching me had one of those Chanel quads to do it.

I liked that one, but no, she used the Beiges de Chanel quad, which is more golden-y, mystic eyes has the silver one in it doesn't it? ... i just fished the quad out of my travel bag to see what it was called lol. :)

Love doing that look. My hair is dyed a similar shade and I have green eyes. You gotta mix some copper-bronze shadow with your black liner. Apply the eyeshadow wet then smudge it really good. Then go back in an apply black liner on the water line. Love this look

And I found a HQ from that event you posted. It looks like a red-brown shade was used. it definitely brings out the green in her eyes.

You'd need a matte or satin finish foundation that's an absolute perfect match to your face and neck.
OR for those of you with great skin, just apply concealer to areas where you need a little evening out, and dust down with loose powder.
A matte eyeshadow in a light peach or reddy brown (I could see something like MAC's Bamboo or Soft Brown work, depending on your skin tone) for your lid, and a very natural looking highlight color for your browbone and inner corner (meaning nothing with high shimmer or sparkle, you just want a soft sheen).
A flesh/pale peach color eye liner for your waterline.
For the cheeks, a sheer matte peach color, like MAC's Pinch o Peach or a light dusting of Melba. You could also use the blush as your lid color, since it is a natural monochromatic look.
And for the lips, it really depends on the tone of your lips. If they're very rosy, tone them down with foundation and apply a sheer layer of a nude, but natural lipstick. Best if it's a creme that you then blot to take some of the shine out. If your lips are already pretty pale, then just go for your favorite lip balm.

Good luck!

Woops, I forgot! Groom through your brows with a tiny bit of gel, but fill in with powder if they need a little help. Black mascara if you're brunette, brown if you're blonde, on the lashes, something on the natural side, like Maybelline's Full'N'Soft would be great.

How can I get this look? For some reason, I can't seem to nail it no matter how many times I've tried, I'm not very good at recreating looks
I have brown eyes btw, if that matters...
