LOL, they're giving me a bday present, didn't know the exact date till now...
that's one fierce teaser poster! :D

^i'll miss getting a new Potter as a BD-present (when they were released in November) =(

for some reason i'm not really excited for the movie anymore, but i'm sure promos and trailers will make me interested in it again

^Lol. Me neither. I think I need to re-read the books again or I need to see the trailer.
I'm still just not excited about who they cast as the main three. :(

yup, i'm actually surprised they aren't bringing it to CC to get the hype a bit going (maybe it will be a surprise conference?).

I was wondering that too. I was thinking that maybe they'd be at CC next year, but then the movie would have already been out by then (if they push through with the tentative release date of May 23).

Oh well, there's 3 movies anyway. (Or 4 if they break Mockingjay into 2 parts)

i think they're already set on bringing the 4th book in 2 parts.
Spiderman, which comes out after THG, is gonna be on CC. i find it being MIA really weird, tbh.

just crossed my mind...John Carter movie, they're also not going to CC to promote it cus they say they're gonna have their own little promo convention or something along those lines cus they were afraid they would get lost among all others on CC, so it might be that the producers of THG are aiming at something similar..maybe a huge viral campaign first..

^or the good old Malltour a la Twilight etc:lol:
i hope not though
no, no. i don't think they're gonna go Malltour, oh god no, don't jinx it...
i'm thinking more along the lines of Inception viral to an extend and some big conference in LA or somewhere where they're gonna present it.

here's a comment from Stanton who's doing JC movie with Taylor K about it (to get a picture how it might be done for THG too):
“I think what it was is the perception that it’s getting harder and harder to stand out amid the din. We’re going to do our special event to get some focus and separation. I know some people will read that as a sign that we’re unsure of our property. It’s just the opposite. We want to control how and what is being seen and the way it is presented. So much stuff now is just spit out so fast and the churn of it all. You almost gain nothing by talking about things really early in this day and age. I think in the future we might see things arrive the way Prince announces a concert where a few days before the show he announces it and tickets just go up. You might see that with movies and other things. That seems like the only way to get people interested and then capitalize off that interest.”

so, in short, they just want to evade over-exposure?
but yeah, that's def a smart move. especially if it's a series of movies it's smarter to let it grow by mouth-to-mouth propaganda than hype, that dies down too quickly and by the last movie no one's interested anymore.
i hope they'll have some cool viral campaign!

yeah, they're gonna need to let the book fan-base spread it firstly, but they're def gonna need to do some strong campaigning esp when it comes to worldwide release (for example, this book hasn't even been translated in my country  and i don't think we're the only country without it), so there's a general knowledge clue about the story (my guess is that they're gonna go with the re-releases and releases of the books in foreign countries just before the movie hits the theatres). either way, they're gonna have to play it smart and despite the fact i get why they might've escaped CC, i can't help thinking it might've been a good start., just to put the movie on the map.

isn't there some other convention type stuff later in the year?
but yeah, i agree, it would've been a good start, maybe not a panel but something small. plus i'm sure the people at CC would've been interested, it totally fits to CC imo.
but i'm sure they know what they're doing. i do wonder if Twilight is going the same route or if the hype has just died down so much. i barely here anything about them anymore and even when the trailer got released i didn't feel like many people cared. don't know if that's planned by Summit, since they have always had prolems with over-exposure, or the fanbase decreasing...

we don't have that "problem" in Germany, stuff gets translated here very quickly and i've seen desks full of their books here. but lately i see that more with the GoT books (both in German and in English) although the series isn't even on TV here yet (that's the bad thing about Germany, it takes ages until good tv series get onto free tv:judge:)

Twilight? they have a new tactic IMO since there's a whole new marketing department in Summit (lots of peeps got fired last year), but i think they're doing it the wrong way, they should've done this for Eclipse to calm the hype, now hype is all they need. i don't doubt they're going to blow boxoffice, but not even close the way they did with previous ones. i think generally fan-base is totally divided on BD, also it going on over 4-5 years by now is too long (as i said before, people who were 13 when the first one came out now are 18 year old and god only knows how much we change during teens when it comes to out interests), there are other books that are now getting the hype and people are just over the whole vampire subject. it's only natural the hype decreases since your target are 13 year old girls. you know how panicked Summit is when they put Rob and Kristen together to do interviews yesterday...:innocent: they didn't have interviews together since the first one came out.

regarding books here - well that's the weird thing, we usually don't have issues with getting the translations very early on..i think the lastest GoT book even got released earlier here (tho GoT books have been huge here for years now, really big fanbase). it's happening only with Hunger Games, that's why it's weird. it was huge trilogy success wise and yet no one responded to it here enough to translate it or even have the english version in the bookstores, it's so weird. about the series, we only got Glee this year and GG last year on free TV, Europe's always like that...

what later convention this year? don't have a clue.

^i have no clue, it was a question:rofl: but there must be something, not this big maybe, but i can't believe that CC is the only thing? but i don't know.

at first i thought you meant GG=Girlmore Girls and i was like "wow well that is late"
German tv just sucks in general, the bad stuff we get immediately and the good stuff takes ages (maybe it's just too expensive...i don't know) plus they butcher everything with their stupid dubbing:yuk:

i think CC is the biggest and the only convention of that kind during the year.
EDIT: was wrong, look at this.:lol::lol:
GG as in Gossip Girl, we had Gilmore Girls from the very start . yeah, we don't have the dubbing thing, just subtitles and that's it. i don't know how it goes with mini-series from HBO, we had Sex and the City and Sopranos regularly on, but they're series. i think GoT is expensive and i don't recall seeing these kind of short series being on our free tv.
