The Hunger Games Thread

I envisioned District 12 more decadent, with dirt roads lol

i'm also disappointed with the casting of cinna, along with a few others :(
i was thinking more of a ken paves-type dude as cinna.. boo on the casting directors!

District 12 doesn't look at all how I imagined it.
It looks kind of like a lot of boondocks "towns" in the south.

I imagined him more "delicate", maybe not as much as Paves but certainly not as "rough" as Kravitz. Can he act btw?

i have read two books already and there is something i don't understand , she has faced the death many times, she had plenty of oportunities in the arena, the training center and in the forest, and she's got two handsome boyfriends who love her ,so... does she want to die virgin or what ? :p

i'm reading the third now, love the books.

^hahaha that´s what I like about the books the most, that it barely has romance :)

^yeah me too
also, she's pretty young in the books and isn't sure about her feelings towards either of the boys, so why would she?

I think Katniss is constantly thrown into situations that call for romance to be put on the backburner. This is the most realistic aspect of the series for me. It wouldn't make sense for her to be worrying about boy problems when she's fighting for her life or leading a revolution.

The casting of Cinna works for me a lot better than the Peeta/Gale casting. I can totally see Lenny Kravitz playing the understated rebel Cinna.

Some of the situations that Katniss is in require her to use romance as a weapon, so I think she starts to use it as one.
She's so busy pretending to be in love with Peeta that she can't even realize that she may actually be in love with him.

well, i just finished the third book and i think the end is very very very sad, i feel depressed and with a complete feeeling of loss, Prim should never have died, because then everything Katniss fighted for, all the people who died , all the terrible things she went through was for nothing. maybe she put an end to the hunger games , but right now it doesn't cheer me up at all. this is so depressing. :(

^Yes Mockingjay is a complete downer. I started to hate Katniss by the end of the series.

Set pictures. I still don't see her as Katniss.
Judging from these pictures, they're filming the Day of the Reaping scene.

ontd

not at all how i imagined it:ninja:

also someone on ontd worded it quite nicely "Jennifer does not look like a hungry schoolgirl". this might just be very unflattering, but i imagined her with a much smaller build and not so "womanly"

and Gale looks so clean (or those really his movie clothes or did he just come to set like that?) also...he's so f*cking ugly:sick:

Not what I imagined either. Their clothes especially. I don't know what image I conjured up in my head, but they were not wearing THAT.
Gale and Katniss look so much older too. :ermm:

i agree, i think they should look as pauperrim and emaciated as Oliver Twist in the London of the XIX century, not like a bunch of boys and girls preparing for a dance party in the mids 50', not convincing
