^ i agree about katniss not being an underdog.. however, i'd definitely much rather them portray her not necessarily as the underdog, but a kind of unexpectedly skilled & strong girl in the movie

it would definitely prove to be a nice character for younger girls to look up to, and would kind of stand out in the movie from all of the typical lara croft/resident evil female 'superheroes' we've had thus far

she looks too healthy for me, part of the shocking reality they live in is that they hardly get enough food to survive. but i guess they can do lots with makeup and lighting (like pattinson had a sixpack drawn on his chest)
but she looks kinda similar to my imagined Katniss, just too old and tall.

Well...I've been sort of glancing over the book again and Katniss and her family are described as looking healthier than the others,
because Katniss is a skilled hunter.

Katniss used to be underfed and starving right after her father died and Peeta gave her the burned bread,
but then she started hunting with Gale and was able to provide food for her family.
However, she is supposed to be smaller than the other tributes, so hopefully they will portray that.
All the actors they've cast look so much younger than Jennifer.

Speak for yourself, I'd take DanRad and Rupert over any of the twilight guys any day.

However, thankfully The Hunger Games (like Harry Potter) isn't about looks or romance.
The characters have much more important things to worry about.
Hopefully the films will focus on that as well.

But Katniss isn't really an underdog. All the tributes know she's skilled with a bow from the start, because of what she does to Seneca Crane.
It's even stated in the book that they know she's a threat and will be after her...that's one of the reasons she spends so much time hiding and observing.

Actually I hate the Twilight movies and Rob Pattison is fug to me. I don't really follow the Harry Potter stuff but I know girls don't chase down the Harry Potter boys like they do Rob.

The Careers were pissed that Katniss got the highest ranking score and jealous of the attention she and Peeta got for their star-crossed lover story. That's why they where hunting her. I don't think Cato was threatened at all. He was just mad he got owned.

The one thing I do like about Jennifer Lawrence's appearance is the cool, aloof look in the eyes she always has. I've seen her in a few films and she always has this strong, silent thing about her. I always imagined Katniss being like that. A woman of few words...

I think so too. Jennifer looks a little thinner in the EW photos than she did before, so I think Katniss is coming together onscreen.

I have always liked Josh Hutcherson and think he's perfect for Peeta. I think its a chance for him to be a romantic lead for the first time and he'll nail it. I wouldn't be surprised at girls screaming for him once the film is actually out!

She looks so strong and healthy like a Career tribute. It's going to take a lot to convince me she's underfed and overmatched in the Arena.

I'm curious to see how Cinna's costumes are brought to life and which designer will create them.

I'm actually impressed with the new photos of Jennifer as Katniss. She looks soooo different, I almost didn't recognize her. She's a chameleon all right.

^I haven't seen Battle Royale, but a lot of people compare it to that.
I think it also has some similarities to Lord of the Flies.
