Michelle Jank is an Australian womenswear designer who enjoyed some success in America (I think she had a show at NY fashion week at one point). But she has declined offers to have her collections stocked through department stores in the US, and has not shown a collection at US or Australian fashion weeks for a while. I think she sells pieces through some small boutiques in Sydney and Paris. She has been working as a stylist and I am pretty sure that she was working with the Tsubi designers recently, collaborating on a range of jewellry. I loved her debut collection for 2000 Fashion Week- some pictures (from ix6photography.com.au
(the first is from her off-schedule show during May 2005 fashion week (from smh.com.au) and the rest are from her 2005 Melbourne fashion festival show (from mediasearch.com.au))
I have found a wonderful designer, A.Cheng. I Just love his/her collection Spring 2005, and I'm wondering if someone know were I can buy his/her clothes online!? Because I live in Sweden...
thanks mikaela, i love a cheng! i think the knitwear is beatiful.
dema is a designer from san francisco. her boutique is so so cute and she also carries some petite bateau stuff as well as her own, of course. it's on valencia in the mission district in san francisco.
dido!!!! i agree whole heartedly with you. why is that people will go to a major department store to buy designer clothing when the flagship shop could be around the corner? I dont know about the rest of the world but I much rather spend the money at the flagship shop and be in the enviroment that compliments the designer pieces rather then at a major department store that hangs a beautiful and expensive piece of clothing as if it was Wal-mart!!! boycott the department stores!!!!
