i felt so bad for bette when alice attacked her like that! alice was so pushy about it! and for alice to have mentioned that bette cheated on her, i feel, shows that alice still holds a grudge against bette for taking her out on a third date well over eight years ago, done what they did at the opera and then told her that she liked a straight girl, who at the time she was talking about tina, and wanted to pursue her.

or is it cheating if you're all wrapped up in someone else emotionally but dating another person?

or is it cheating if you're with someone and fall out of love with them and start becoming emotionally involved with someone else?

I think it is...well, I would hate to be other person in that situation anyway...

i read somewhere that the campfire scene was mostly improvised, (as well as the scene when bette and shane are squirting each other with water bottles,) except for the entire alice blowing up about cheating and jodi then finding out about the bette and tina situation.

really? urgh! that was the best scene of 509, and of all the recent episodes...

alice and bette were dating?

the show began eight or so years after they dated, but when bette and tina first met at bette's art gallery, tina was straight and dating a guy who took her to see bette's art gallery... at the time, bette and alice were seeing each other and on their third date, bette took alice to the opera and fooled around with her while they were there, and then told her that she wanted to try things out with tina, who at the time was just some straight girl who she had met at her art gallery.

they don't show all of this, but they talk about it in a few episodes and in episode 3.07, "lone star," they show the flashback of bette and alice at the opera. in a few episodes they also show how tina and bette met, and the whole issue about how tina forgot her earring at bette's art gallery, and when she went to pick it up, bette kissed her and that's how it all began for them two.

nope (we all have certain fantasies sometimes, don't we.)
yes (but then again, why dating the latter?)
yes (being emotionally involved is quite serious in my book.)

edit: and you're right, it sucks to be the other person no matter what.

if its emotionally i dont see it be cheating. unless you act upon it physically.

I guess it depends on how you value/define intimacy...I think it really is cheating to be emotionally involved with one person and having sex with another...unless the person you're having sex with knows that it's just frivolous sex...

^ very true, but i think in the case of bette and tina, atleast, bette explained it in the elevator scene and the scene after phyillis' party. she adores jodi, but doesn't love her. as she said, "it's not the same." and although she is physically cheating on jodi with tina, her heart has always been tina's.
