The Leg Thread - Toning, Firming and Questions

I have a question for all you fitness buffs out there.....BTW MOUKO thanks so much for your post....very helpful....

i am a slim person.....naturally very thin on the top....thin on the bottom too.....any weight gain, which is usually minimal, goes to my thighs/butt, like a typical woman i guess.....i have started running again.....i do about 25-30mins a day, with about 15 minutes of yoga before and after....mainly just to stretch and warm up/cool down....however, i am worried that the jogging will just add muscle on top of the "fat", i guess, that is on my butt/thighs....is this likely to happen, and if so.....what is the best thing i can do to avoid this? sleep, diet, water intake, etc is all pretty good and consistent with me....i'd just like to tone up and lose a little of this extra meat on my thighs and 'flatten' the butt area a little, if possible....

thankyou!!!!!!

Does anyone else have muscular calves?

I used to be a dancer and had extremely toned (but large, on me) calves. Now they have slimmed down a bit, but I really want them to be a lot slimmer (not muscular)

I am guessing Pilates is the only way to go though?

Weird legs

I have legs like this

5xv69v

the lower part is normal ... but in the upper area ... I have like this exploting of fat !!!
HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS ?

thank you ... but I really don 't have legs like in the picture ( I wish )

mine are like .. straight .. and then fat at the top

anyway thank you !

glad i found this thread. I used to work out, A LOT, and i got thick bulky thighs from swimming, using the smith machine (squat machine) and running hill repeats. now, 3 yrs later, i stopped swimming so much and just do squats with a fitness ball, some pilates moves, and brisk walking like someone suggested and my legs have gotten more leaner looking.

I did use a FIRM video for legs only, and that worked very quickly in toning my legs and butt.

My legs are great thanks to my running, it does little for the rear though, but it tones your calfs with not much buldge...

Not at all sweetie! Running (or jogging) is seriously the best way to lose fat, you will loose the "fat" first and the rest will be toning...

So I've been exercising a week, and nada! in fact, I feel like it looks worse. wah. well. I will keep trying. Anyone know any good skin tightening cream. Or has anyone tried anti celulite cream, and found that it worked at all?

Don't worry! One week is almost nothing in terms of seeing actual results. Be patient sweetie, keep it up and you'll see results. But not for a few more weeks. Don't get discouraged!!
I started a serious workout regimen in the spring. I worked out up to 5 days a week at least an hour each time and I only saw results after a few weeks. It all depends on what kind of shape you're in already. I didn't really have much weight to lose, I just needed to tone up. But someone who is overweight will see results faster. It all depends on the person.
Although cellulite is tough.. it can be really hard (if not impossible) to get rid of it totally. I'm thin and toned and still have some! :(

So, I like most of my body, except for the legs. The calves are okay, I even don't have any knee issues anymore (don't ask) but the tighs ... well, the tighs. They're pretty toned, too, except for the inner side of them, how can I get rid of the fat on the inner side? My legs are fat by no means, but they look dismatching to my very slender and almost bony upper half. Also I have worked out a tad bit too much and there's muscle bulk on the sides of my tigh ... looks a bit weird when you're all skinny until 10 cm above the knee when the tight just goes 'whooop'.

Someone said something about long muscles by long distance running. I jog 3 or 4 times a week, between 3 and 6 kilometers in 30 or 60 minutes, so what would be a long distance for me?

Thanks!

Running and walk is the best I think that they are some models that doesn't do anything of exercise but like they live on catwalks and in heels I think that helps and thanks to that they have gorgeous legs

Hi, I'm new here! I'm pretty happy with my legs, until you go way up past my knees, to my upper thighs. I've been doing pilates for a while now, and it has really helped to slim them down a bit, but I would still like to burn more fat and have them nice and toned. However, I don't want my legs to become any bigger due to muscle, so what are good exercises to really slim the legs, but also kind of tone them and get rid of the flab? Also, I was wondering if there are some good and inexpensive anti-cellulite/firming creams for the legs that I could get maybe at a local drugstore or mall? Thanks in advance! :)

Hi everyone!! I'm so glad I found this thread!
What are some exercises that will help toning the inner thighs? Gah I am so out of proportion my measurments are 29-24-35:shock:  It seems like everything I eat goes to my thighs.
Oh my!! You're just like me! I'm a naturally thin person, albeit lacking in height...:( (I'm 5'3). I have a nice top half (nice shoulders, nice arms and everything), am totally boobless (but I've kinda accepted that) and my measurements are 28.5-23.5-33. But my hip measurement is just where my bones are and underneath that is absolutely atrocious. I have a "bulge" in my outer thighs just under my hips and that makes my hip look bigger than what my measurements suggest. I also have flabby inner thighs and just basically when i move, you can see this whole layer of flab surrounding my entire thigh shake. I'm sorry if I grossed ppl out...My calves are flabby as well, just not as bad as my thighs and they look OK when i stand, so its not that noticeable.

So I really want to know what I can do. Previously ppl said cardio, and I generally walk really fast. Is that a good thing? I don't really want that much muscle, just to get rid of the flab. Anyone, help plz? Your advice is greatly appreciated!:flower:

I was wondering, when I've lost the weight in my thighs, how can i make the wrinkly dimpled skin go away. There's a pictures of Tara Reid on the beach, and her thighs look the way mine did at my slimmest. Is it possible to get that dimpling to go away? If I just keep trying to lose weight/build tone? Has anyone had legs like this, and were then able to get them to look nice and smooth? And if so, what did you do?

^haha, you mean....CELLULITE!? You and everyone else would love a sure-fire way to get rid of it. That is one of the biggest vanity issues in women....:cry:

Ballet is great. I wouldn't advise riding though -people who ride tend to get big ***es. Running is the way to go. For men, look at pictures of Steve Prefontaine's legs. That should be motivation enough.

I ride horses English saddleseat which involves a lot of thigh and calf muscle.

Ya know...I was thinking of reasons why my legs were so toned when I was younger,it was definitely horse back riding that did it for me. All the lessons..and the posting. And the jumping stance. I think I need to start it up again.

anyone heard of the escalator machine??:brows: :buzz: if you're lucky enough to have this wonderful cardio machine at your gym- do it. Its basically just walking up stairs. I never skip this machine i do at least 20 minutes every day (30-40 on days that are strictly cardio). I think this is the thing that has really toned my legs- although i dont have a pear shape.
