Ah yes! Plies! Ballet plies :D They will definately strengthen your thighs.

I do them while I'm brushing my teeth in the morning.
ok, this is will sound weird but how exactly does one do ballet plies? lol sorry if its a stupid question, but I dunno how to (or at least I think I dunno how to)

Pilates is an exercise regimen that uses mainly strecthing and special machines. It emphasises flexibility and overall strength.

Pilates is good for you body is done correctly.

no matter what excersises you do, and what you consume, you will not be able to lose weight/inches in one targeted area.

eat a lot of peanut butter sandwhiches, stop having sex, and run as much as you can.
you will enjoy the outcome

There are two pliés: grand plié or (full bending of the knees (the knees should be bent until the thighs are horizontal) and demi-plié (half-bending of the knees.) Pliés are done at the bar and in the centre in all five positions of the feet. . When a grand plié is executed in either the first, third or fourth position croisé (feet in the fifth position but separated by the space of one foot) or the fifth position, the heels always rise off the ground and are lowered again as the knees straighten. The bending movement should be gradual and free from jerks, and the knees should be at least half-bent before the heels are allowed to rise. The body should rise at the same speed at which it descended, pressing the heels into the floor. In the grand plié in the second position or the fourth position ouverte (feet in the first position but separated by the space of one foot) the heels do not rise off the ground. All demi-pliés are done without lifting the heels from the ground. In all pliés the legs must be well turned out from the hips, the knees open and well over the toes, and the weight of the body evenly distributed on both feet, with the whole foot grasping the floor.

My favorite way to work out my thighs? Easy! Put on a pair of heels, and go out dancing all night at a hot new club with your girlfriends.
Riding horse is a great thigh workout I love too, but I suppose most people don't have that option.

Lunges are great, if you need something to do in the gym. Use some weights for added burn. Lots of luck. :flower:

Hi All,

Summer is coming, miniskirts are in fashion, shorts are going to be worn!!!

What are we all doing (exercise wise) to make sure our legs are fit to be seen when they go on display?

I am running and using the abductor and adductor machines in the gym for inner and outer thighs. I do these until it burns - feels like it's doing something!

Come on let's get those legs toned and firm!

Charlotte

Those two are the best machines  They do work an area that would otherwise only be taken care of with lipo! :P

Another really good excercise to add in if you plan to wear short skirts is a lunge- with or without weights- since it really works the area just above the knee and up the lenght of the entire quads.... But it all depends on what your legs look like now and what areas you want to work on!

I think I might start running again today...or maybe tomorrow cuz I'm still kind of sick. I've been doing things with my ankle weights, but I might just do leg lunges because I'm scared of building too much muscle.

yeah i do those machines too!! the one for the inner-thighs is on 50 kgs already!!!

This could not look any more bizzare but it is far better than trying to explain it:

That is the adductor, you squeeze in.

This is the abductor (sp?) you push out:

Sorry to post such large and bizzare images.

I'm currently running and riding horse. Lunges are my favorite leg exercise.

Don't worry about building too much muscle dressagechick. Your body doesn't produce enough testosterone to build huge bulky muscles. You would need to be doing some serious heavy lifting, with a clean high protien diet, and a ton of supplements.

thanks for the advice, lovespell
Yeah, our school's meager weight room definetly doesn't have those machines

Biking, lunges, plie' (from ballet) and leg-lifts mostly. This is part of my general workout. I don't have access to weight-training equipment, so I do a lot of calesthenics, as per traditional PE class. In the absense of an abductor, you can do an exercise which looks mad obscene but is good for the inner thighs and REALLY great for the butt.

You lay on your back and pull your legs up so that your feet are flat on the floor, your knees are bent at an angle like this /\, and you lift your butt off the floor. While your butt is in the air, press your knees apart, then bring them back together. Be sure to keep your butt up. Do two sets of 20 reps and you will be in excellent stead.

I walk briskly for at least one hour a day. Seriously, it works!

Forget about the running and weight machines. If you want dead sexy legs, take up tango dancing. Have you ever seen the legs on those women? Jeez-us. God stuff.
