The Libertines #2

I'm not too thrilled about Carl doing acting, and watching him as someone else, I like Carl being Carl. ^^ A terribly good poet and musician.

thanks for posting!
what i love about pete's music is that when he covers a song he always gives his own romantic style to it!

i saw babyshambles here in portugal a couple of weeks ago...! it was great, pete seemed (relatively) sober and all went smoothly... except when he deserted to the backstage and didn't return for about ten minutes!

i could share pics, if anyone wants me to...

Pete Doherty and Carl Barat to begin writing musical

Babyshambles’ Pete Doherty and Dirty Pretty Things’ Carl Barat – formerly bandmates in The Libertines – will begin writing a musical together next week (March 10), for a new show scheduled to begin in early 2009.

Barat told NME.COM last November that he had been approached about writing a musical with Doherty. He has since explained to the Sunday Mirror that he and his old pal have since been commissioned by London’s Donmar Warehouse theatre, based in Covent Garden, to work on the project.

“A producer from the theatre approached me through my record label,” Barat said. “So I went down there to see a play and we met up for a chat. He asked me if I was still in contact with Pete.

“I asked Pete and he loves the idea. He has invited me to Wiltshire [where he lives] this week to start writing it.”

Barat explained that the duo will write around 20 new songs for the musical, which will be about the drama surrounding an up-and-coming band.

He also revealed that the duo discussed reforming The Libertines, but that they both agreed it would not be a good idea to get the band back together “just yet”.

'The former Libertines put differences behind them and take to the stage in Camden…..

The shock reunion happened at The Prince of Wales pub in Camden, North London, where Pete Doherty was performing as part of a fashion show for rock & roll designer-label Gio-Goi.

As he neared the end of his 45 minute set, Pete’s attention was drawn to a commotion at the door, the next thing he knew his old mate Carl Barat was being rushed through the crowd and on to stage. After an embrace and a scramble for an extra guitar the pair broke into song.

Surrounded by screaming fans and models, they played several tracks including ‘Don’t Look Back Into The Sun’, ‘Time For Heroes’ and an ironic cover of Oasis’ ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ - showing glimpses of the old chemistry and whispering to each other between songs.

Backstage afterwards - joined by Gio-Goi supremoes Anthony & Chris Donnelly - the pair spoke exclusively to MTV News about their plans for the future. Carl motioned to a new cryptic tattoo on his forearm: "look I’ve got it here, ‘let’s put our futures behind us', I thought that was pretty clever". Pete replied: "Mmmnn. A bit complicated though.". The pair then broke into song "Together again, just like the old days….."

Confusing as always, but watch this space……..'

They are great together! Or maybe it's just always great seeing them together again. Nostalgia.
