Libertines Reunite For London Show

from clickmusic.com

The Libertines were partially reunited this weekend, when Pete Doherty, Carl Barat and Gary Powell played a set at London's Rhythm Factory.

Doherty's band Babyshambles were on the bill for the gig on 15th May, which was a tribute to the late Johnny Sedassy, who used to put on gigs for The Libertines.

Babyshambles played seven songs, before Carl Barat joined them for 'What A Waster'. The pair then continued with 'Up The Bracket', 'What Katy Did', 'Can't Stand Me Now', 'Time For Heroes' and 'Death On The Stairs'.

Powell and Barat then left to be replaced by Babyshambles' Adam Ficek and Mick Whitnall for the remainder of the set.

yeah, i wish..its the only reunion that i think will happen since i know that guns and roses is out of the picture (sigh)

Carl Barat has spoken about The Libertines' recent reunion gig, where band members Pete Doherty, Gary Powell and Barat reunited to play live at London's Rhythm Factory.

The trio performed in the early hours of Saturday morning (May 16) at a tribute gig for the late promoter Johnny Sedassy, who used to organise shows for the band.

Barat has since told NME.COM that he "wouldn't rule out" an impromptu gig again, but said he was still concentrating on solo material.

"I can't rule it out, but I'd rather save it [playing with The Libertines again]," he said. "That's not to say I won't get on stage with Pete at some point soon."

The star added that he was continuing to work towards solo gigs and a solo album, hinting that 2010 was still earmarked for a full Libertines reunion.

"Next year is a new year," he said. "We'll see what happens."

same here. i want to hear new songs written by them, it doesn't even need to be a new album, i can wait for a new album a little longer, just a few songs would be great already. and more gigs so that we can see them sweating and mic-sharing on stage again.

I miss them... I get so cheesy whenever I talk about them, but they really influenced me so much as a teenager. I would be a different person if I hadn't found them!

Me too! I nearly died when i heard about them playing together again. Gives me hope to them writing together and finally getting a chance to see them! ^_^

they changed everything for me, people wouldn't believe it but they are the reason i listen to the music that i do today and they've influenced me probably more than any other band. they'll always have a special place.

I know, I'm so sad I didn't have a chance to see them live. I don't feel like my life is complete... :( :P

Pete Doherty: 'We've discussed making a new Libertines album'
Singer/guitarist reveals what he and Carl Barat discussed at reunion

Pete Doherty has revealed that he and Carl Barat discussed plans to make an album and tour together after The Libertines reunited for a one-off gig in London in May.

The Babyshambles frontman has repeatedly outlined his desire to reform the band properly, but has not spoken about the discussions he and Barat have had until now.

However, he has now told The Times that the pair talked about returning to the studio in 2010 following their show at the Rhythm Factory, a tribute for late promoter Johnny Sedassy, who used to organise the band's shows.

"We had a good couple of hours [after the show]," he said. "We were up all night together. It was amazing really. I think we're gonna make a record and tour. Get The Libertines to take it to the next step, next stage."

Doherty also said that he had another solo album in mind – a follow-up to his 'Grace/Wastelands' record, which was released in March.

"I just see 'Grace/Wastelands 2'," he said. "I think I've got a 'Harvest' [classic Neil Young album] in there. I keep getting flashes of it, even if it's just for a couple of minutes."

SH*T that better be true. otherwise i'll hunt these two down and throw them in a studio.

All Back To Pete Doherty's - Home Video Time
Long before Little Boots started filling YouTube with bedroom melodies, a certain Mr. Peter Doherty was regularly hurling up home vids of his bizarre existence for all to see, comment on and rate. Blair Witch-shaky, cobbled together by quick afternoon Mac edits in tru 'Shamblin' ramshackle style, they offered an intriguing insight into Pete's Lord-of-the-manor life in his Wiltshire pile.
Most were sketchy beginnings of new acoustic songs accompanied by images of his army of kittens, various model types lounging around his bedroom quarters in states of advance undress and (my favourite) an amateur sleuth drama starring Pete and two foreign models on a quest to recover a chicken-shaped glass bong.
Sadly, Pete recently dragged them all into the desktop trash bin, leaving his YouTube account as barren the crowd at Keane's T In The Park headline slot.
But yesterday (August 6) and today (7) Pete rebooted, posting up nine new efforts. Kittens chasing lamp-shades, a topless Pete strumming away on the battered acoustic, zooming in on scrawled-on diary entries – we're getting a looksy through Pete's key hole again.
Aside from old Libs song 'What Katy Did' all feature versions of new efforts – seemingly titled 'Raise The Kaboose', 'Cheap Shot' and 'Stranger In My Own Skin'. We're hardly dealing with a 'Freewheeling Bob Dylan'-matching collection of ditties yet, but as newly-birthed sketches of new Pete material, they're worth a listen.
Here are all Pete's new videos:
