The Lingerie Thread

I have these canvas bins in the top drawer of my chest of drawers ... the first one has knickers :p, second one socks, third one hosiery/tights. The socks I match, the rest just gets tossed in when it's clean & dry. I don't have a lot of patience for folding laundry, and I'm not attached to the drawer looking particularly beautiful when I open it, so it works for me ...

Oh, bras hang on hooks on the back of my bathroom door :p

Hanging bras, of course!! How brilliant.

By the way, I was just looking through the lingerie section of H&M...I like the colors! Havent tried any on.

Does anyone have experience with their bras?

^^ i've found h+m bras to be good and a few of my favourites are from there, but i wear triangle/fabric/lace/stretchy ones mostly, so there's not a lot to go wrong in terms of padding, wiring, and support. h+m's lingerie is about the same as their clothes: adorable, cheap, decent enoguh, and will start to fall apart as soon as it starts to look out of style, so more or less is worth what you pay for. i think i just really like spending money on really beautiful quality lingerie though so tend to avoid it.

I agree with you all that Victoria Secret is okay, but not great quality. You can find better made things at a lower price in the department store. But I do like their cotton Pink bras that go down to small sizes and have minimal padding (enough for no show through).

My favorite for undies would be Eberjey. I like their boyshorts for wearing under skirts and dresses. Their bras are okay, too, but I can't get used to wearing wireless.

thanks for the info, lafindesiecle...love your username by the way

I third intimissimi, the limited experience I've had has been good.
But I usually end up using Wacoal or Triumph; not as cheap as VS but they have a good balance of quality, fit, design and price and have lasted a long time.

Anyone know of any basic lingerie brands in France??

i like the basic stuff at h&m
and i love some of things from elle macpherson even though i wasnt a fan before i think its because i got my sizing wrong the first time i purchased some things from the brand!
i do really enjoy the la senza and topshop deals for like 5 pairs for x , or 10 pairs for x or whatever...but then i do prefer matching underwear so i tend to purchase these when i really want to go shopping but cant afford anything and buying a couple of pairs of knickers make me feel like ive bought a lot!

isn't intimissimi owned by or at least somehow distributed thru VS? i feel like i've seen that as a 'department' in the VS at malls and stuff.

I love Chantelle, Huit and I am a nut when it comes to camisoles. I love them!! I have to wear one everyday! I am in:wub:with Carine Gilson camisoles ridiculously expensive but so beautiful!!:blush:Also I love Eres too:wub:Gee:huh:no wonder I never have any money!!

Nothing basic about it, but I know you can get a couture bra (OK, not haute couture, but made using a similar process of multiple fittings, custom design, you choose the materials, etc.) in Paris. I have wanted to do this since I read about it ;)

^^ omg, now i want a custom bra, that sounds like such a wonderful + lovely thing to do for yourself once in your life!

I came across some of the basic pieces on the H&M website. WHY DO WE NOT HAVE H&M HERE? :judge: Aren't these just the cutest?

h&m online shop

F*ck me. I would DIE for an H&M right now.

Very sexy indeed... Not very often do we see a piece that's that sexy and not vulgar.

hahahaha i honestly just bought that bra-slip and the top corset-bra!! they're adorable, but the lace honestly is pretty scratchy and the bow on the first one isn't very firmly sewed on. the slip is great though and now i want more slips that also have a light underwire bra built into them, it's very flattering and comfortable and keeps the slip from like, twisting around under my dress or whatever too!

h+m's tendency to run very small also makes me quite happy in lingerie :) i don't like buying a skirt that has a size number 3 sizes bigger than i'm used to, but having their 'small' bras actually FIT me is really awesome. ha.

H&M sizing is gigantic compared to other brands I've tried, esp when it comes to lingerie. Even a 70 is too big for me.

H&M is really cheap but the fashion is so normal and everybody wears it. but the lingerie is very sexy

seriously? maybe things translate differently between countries and i guess we americans are too used to everyone catering to our nation's on-average obesity. i would say most folks would agree i am quite thin and of course american chain stores like gap vanity size like woah -- i cannot even find things that fit me at gap, for example -- so among most american stores and american designers i am used to finding the smallest size on the rack and it fitting. but at h+m i find i am usually wearing mediums, and i find their lingerie to run small here too... hmm.

guess the moral of the story is everyone should go and try things on :)
