The MAC Makeup Thread

What's iirc?
If I recall correctly...

Ada, you will definitely find that the Sugarsweet MSF's are the best ones in a long time-very low shimmer compared to some. I have 5 (So Ceylon, Northern Light, Petticoat, Glissade, Light Flush) and the closest to them as far as the low shimmer goes is Light Flush. Some of them are downright glitter bombs (Naked You). Perfect Topping is definitely close to Lightscapade, which wasn't very popular when it originally came out because of the blue but now it is one of the most coveted ones, along with Metal Rock and Pleasureflush. Speaking of Pleasureflush, I heard a rumour that it and Stereo Rose will be repromoted later this year.

I tend to like the Nordie's collections because they bring out a lot of interesting things, in fact Colour Forms was my favourite collection last year. Royal Flush is one of my most-used pigments to this day, and of course the Warm Lips had my favourite lipstick in it (Oh Garnet). I am hoping that this will have brights and then pastels.

Oh and today, I went to the Freestanding and they had a LOT more Hello Kitty. They had at least Nice to be Nice, Strayin', Cute-Ster, Popster, Pink Fish, both Beauty Powders, Tippy, the gold glitter liner, the doll, and the couture stuff-but I believe they also had at least Fresh Brew and Most Popular. I picked up Tippy and then a pan of Plum Dressing. Tippy is gorgeous on me, and it goes on very nicely. Haven't tried Plum Dressing, however I know I will use it a lot as it is a darker purple and it will go well with Stars 'n Rockets and Creme de Violet.

Okay so here are some more Mineralize deets, sourced from my insider:

The MES Duos are going to be rotated out on the 30th of April and replaced by Electroflash duos. Coming back are Odd Couple, Sea & Sky, Love Connection, and Pink Split...but there will be more (Fresh Green Mix had better be in there, if it is not I will be complaining). There are also going to be MSF's coming back, including Porcelain Pink being repromoted.

^ I just saw that on Specktra too  I always wanted porcelain pink and/or lightscapade (i think everyone know that already after I whine abt it like 10 zillion times of this thread ) and they better show up. Otherwise i will be crying, lol
the MSF collection is called Colour Craft altogether.

Apparently Colour Craft is an early fall release-it sounds like it will launch in October, which is very good news for me. I am all over Porcelain Pink, heck I will probably get all of them because I am hoping to have a job soon.

There is another rumour that there will be a Dsquared collaboration, and if it's based on the fall collection's beauty looks it will be a dark, dark eye and almost nothing on the cheeks or lips. Think a really shimmery blackened blue-darker than Deep Truth.

Interesting! Good to know that there's a shimmer range. I really didn't know what to expect.

Have you ever swatched Porcelain Pink? ^_^

I have not (it was way before my time), however my friend has most every MSF except for Pleasureflush and a couple others, and it is the flattest one she owns. It's very smooth, with low frost/shimmer. I definitely got into MAC way too late, I should have gotten in more heavily in the summer of 07 as I am kicking myself for NOT getting Lovestone MES and Global Glow MSF.

As far as colour goes, it's about the same as Light Flush, but pinker, and very low shimmer. My friend sent me a pic of swatches from those two, Glissade, Petticoat, Stereo Rose, and Northern Light, and of those 6 Porcelain Pink has the lowest shimmer of the bunch, and is the lightest.

I have details on the Mineralize though! The eyeshadows are going to be four colours, all in a pinwheel design. There are 6 lipsticks (one of which is a Hello Kitty repromote), 6 lipglasses (a marbled form), 6 MSF's, and 6 Mineralize Brushes. Oh yeah, 6 of the pinwheel shadows. Three MSF's are going to be of the normal design, three are going to be a striped one with three complementary colours. Three brushes-the 226 is being repromoted, as is the 109-and then there's a brand new 130 brush. As far as MSF promotions go, Porcelain Pink is the only old one.

^ pinwheel designed eyeshadow? what will it look like??

I think it means that it's divided into quarters, like 90 degree angles. I dunno other than that though...I think expectations are low, after what a disaster the Red She Said ones were. It's a shame because in the past, there were some good MES. They need to do more mono shades, as there were good ones in the past-both the really marbled ones and the plainer ones.

I did cave and get Aquavert though and am very glad I did. As far as comparing it to Mood Ring, Mood Ring is brighter, bluer, and has an iridescence to it (almost a blue duochrome) while Aquavert is a clean frosty seafoam green. On my eyes it looks amazing, and this summer I will probably use it up, as seafoam green is great on tanned skin.

Those MES colour combinations look odd to me. Assemblage sounds nice though.

This collection will bleed me dry because I already know I want at least one of each of the MSF's, as well as Funky Fusion lipglass, Made with Love and Trimming Talk lipsticks, most of the blushes, and Girlish Romp MES. My list will probably be cut down, but I love the mineralize blushes, even if they are hard to fit in my traincase.

I know! I really want one of the blushes too...or maybe a MSF and then use it as a very light bronzer. Don't know yet.

I mean the good news is that it's probably coming out in October-bad news is that my wishlist is well over $300. I will hopefully have finished a few shadows by that time, so I hope to B2M for a lipstick and a lipglass. I'm so annoyed-I wanted to B2M for Aquavert, but I have so many shadows with pan showing (Beautiful Iris, Moon's Reflection, Pink Freeze, Solar White) as well as some that are pretty close (Stars 'n Rockets, Goldmine, Bright Sunshine, Rose Blanc maybe?) and such that I won't be able to finish them all until October.

^Well, you just have to make an effort! :judge:  No, I know. I'm screwed. And MAC is cheaper than everything else.

Oh trust me, I do-by making sure that I rotate usage of my highlight colours (Solar White, Rose Blanc, Crystal Avalanche-the latter of which is in my palette as it's the only one that came in pan form), and that I do a lot of purple looks. Goldmine I hit pan on before I broke it, and Pink Freeze is getting a lot more use as of late. I know some people who have never finished a MAC product-crazy, I know. They probably are depotters though, which I am vehemently against. I heard a rumour that they are going to be revamping the B2M program-one rumour is that it will be valid on permanent products only, and then I heard in some countries they could do away with it altogether, because there is so much difference. Some stores accept depots but company policy is NO DEPOTS. Others will let you have a Plushglass as your free lippie. Also any special packaging-be it couture packaging or things such as Hello Kitty or Style Warriors-are excluded.

Does anyone have feedback on Mac's Base/Primer? I received it as a gift, and I've never used it before...

why are you against depotting? why would it take longer to finish that way?
I'm against it because I require everything to be in original packaging, except for the pans which you buy that way. The only exception would be when I finish something like, say, my Heatherette trio, in which I will depan it and then use it to hold three propans-probably Crystal Avalanche, Beautiful Iris, and Plum Dressing (a nice, simple space-saver). Also because a lot of people only do it to get the B2M empties-and having worked retail, I am neurotic about policies.

Belowen, are you talking about Prep/Prime? A lot of people like it. I personally have not tried it but I've heard that it's fairly respectable.

I've hit pan on a Sheertone blush or two, because they're so, well, sheer, but never on an eyeshadow. I can't even imagine finishing an eyeshadow. I don't depot, but it might be that I'm quite pale, so I don't need to use a lot for the color to show up, and I prefer a light wash anyway.

A while ago I asked whether it was true that Lipglasses were re-formulated; I'm glad to verify that the formula has improved. I used to hate the texture, but the one I got recently seems less sticky and tacky.

^ I always use a 'base' shade all over, and those I use up regularly. Once I hit the pan, at a certain point it begins to annoy me, and at that point, back it goes ;) The Mineralize can go very fast, and I also hit the pan with Silver Ring. I think that's the first time with a darker shade ...

I go thru Blot Powder more than anything else--also gel cleanser, and there's usually a lipstick or gloss or two in each batch of 6 ...
