The MAC Makeup Thread

none of the stuff on temptalia looks exciting to me...maybe i'll change my tunes once they're closer to release (doubtful, i'm usually tired of it by then).

I'm desperate for the Style Warriors collection, I could buy it all. Unfortunately I buy my puppy this weekend and won't have any money! lol so I'll keep dreaming, whilst potty training ;)

See the brights are right up my alley as well, I love brights. Violet Trance is supposedly a purty colour, but super chalky and requires a good base. I'm excited about the Technakohls and so forth. As for the tinted moisturizer, I may give it a try. I do like tinted moisturizers anyways.

trista - are MSFs permanent? i thought they weren't, but i also haven't seen them out at any of the MACs i've been to in recent months. i need one to hit all over my face. i'm very fair with clear skin, so i can get away with no foundation, but i want something to liven up my skin when i'm not wearing a full face.

Hey remember no boldie:) MSF's ARE permanent-but just two shades: Soft & Gentle and Gold Deposit. Both of them are very shimmery, so apply with a 187 or 188 and not a 182. Ask, though, if they still have any of the BBR or Sugarsweet ones, because those collections didn't sell THE greatest...

^isnt so ceylon permanent too?

I just saw the mac goodbye's email and ordered a few eye shadows and lipsticks. Although I really need to start using more of what I already have

I was never big on lipstick since I always did dark eyes and felt a little like a drag queen with both eyes and lips. But now I no longer feel the need to always do the smoky eye that I did to take attention away from my nose and my lips are fuller too, so I'm beginning to wear more lipstick. It's fun playing around with lipsticks although I'm still not a fan of glosses.

I don't like gloss either, my hair sticks to it lol. Love lipstick with a passion though, surprising considering I only own around 10. So I need to buy more?!

I wanted MSF New Vegas but can't find it :( - oh wait I did on Ebay for about triple the price. Sigh*

someone mentioned the lipglass formual has changed, and i think it has because i pulled out a lipglass in prrr that i specifically bought for my halloween costume in october and then abandoned because i have hated lipglass for a few years not (SO sticky!) and it isn't anywhere near as sticky/goopy/thick as it used to be.

i had the best MSF...i think it was called northern lights? i bought it years ago and used it for a year, and then moved into beauty powders because there were not MSFs available atm. i don't really want a MSF with loads of shimmer...just nice luminous glow.

p.s. trista - why no bold?

Northern Light is absolutely AMAZING. I have nearly flattened the dome on it. I wish it was a little bit finer shimmer, but I would say it's 99% perfect for my skin as it's bronze but has some red to it. I am glad it's one that not a ton of people loved as I can hopefully find some for decent prices or decent swaps. I like MSF's anyways, though...So Ceylon is not permanent. Back in October, they had Sheer Minerals and then the new Mineralize displayer. Sheer Minerals was the LE stuff, with Petticoat/SC and then the Sheersheen powders. If you see the Sheersheen powders at the CCO, BUY THEM. I absolutely love them from what I have tried of them. I like loose powders though, and what I do is I put little amounts in sample jars so I can carry them in my makeup case.

I would love to get New Vegas though. I'm going to the CCO next week anyways-however, I have another interview on Thursday so I am hoping this time I get the job.:)

I am a fan of lipsticks too-I have over a hundred squeeze-tube glosses and I never really use them except for when I am at home and just sitting around. I hate how my hair is coloured Shine Manish half the time, but the look is worth it. I have a scarf that has many spots of Pleasure Principle...which I finished. The lipglass formula has DEFINITELY changed though. I have Fierce & Fabulous and comparing it to the older LG's I have (notably Silly Girl) it is a better formula. I think they're listening to the complaints, I mean they certainly listened with all the people who just LOVED Starflash...*puke*

I just don't like bold things, period. Just like how I hate my hands after gardening...my hands are almost bleeding thanks to pulling groundcover. My mum had better buy me a Naked Honey piece after this...:)

OK, well i'm forced to use it at times because i don't want my question to get lost in the shuffle.

would you say the DGs are the same consistency as the new lipglass or the old? an SA told me they were quite sticky, so while the tubes of shimmer were definitely intriguing, i stayed away.

i think we're talking about different norther light MSFs...mine was from years ago (i think the red was early 2008) and had no red in it.

It's the same Dazzleglass formula. It is definitely stickier than a Lipglass, that's for sure-at least from my experience. It is a thicker formula because you've got the reflects in there, and they need to have a good base.

I also picked up Solar Riche today, absolutely love it. Has a bit of red, so it's perfect to get an easy sun-kissed glow.

i think Lipglass is a creamier stickiness whereas Dazzleglass is a gel stickiness. for me Lipglass has improved, its is creamier than sticky(from before) during wear. Dazzleglass is not as sticky straight from the tube but more so when it wears off and leaves a residue.

Style Warriors is out in the uk today, my heartbeat actually accelerated. I made a promise I wouldn't spend anything this week in light of getting my puppy and having to buy it things.

I'm sitting on my hands right now..

NB If anyone does have New Vegas and doesn't like it?! I'm a willing potential owner lol

Style Warriors has def. been the collection of the year so far for me, but with the brights that Temptalia reported on, that may change. The bronzes are good to help fill holes in my makeup collection, but the colours, in general, are great. The tough thing is that a good portion of the stuff is NOT easily dupeable by perm line items.

Is it just me though, or do the bronzers smell? Fragrance isn't on the List o' Ingredients, however it definitely had a smell to it.

The one product that I would go absolutely batty if they repromoted it is In Living Pink eyeshadow. It's one of the few colours that I actually consider to be a staple-but for me, it is. It is absolutely amazing and I can't live without it. I wouldn't mind them repromoting some MSF's, either. My hauling list is growing by the day, so I hope the interview today works out...*crosses fingers*

^Well, we all have our fingers crossed for you :flower:

I REALLY want to get Blacktrack. Right now. And the 208 to go with that. And Et tu, Bouquet? looks really pretty on, but I have something similar from Guerlain.

Yep good luck Trista xxx

I never got Blacktrack, I got Blitz and Glitz which I love loads, then if I do want to deepen it I'll go over with a (black) pencil liner. It was actually my first ever Mac product! hehe

^Lucky you! Actually... I might get the 266 for the brows instead of the 208. My brows are tiny and I need something firm. I'm buying the Smashbox eyebrow duo with wax & powder, but their brushes...well, they're not for me :flower:

I do have two 266 brushes and they are really good - for putting my fluidline on - it is bigger than the 208 though, I would have thought the 208 would be firmer? I've never used it as a brow tool because mine are pretty bushy so I can be un-precise lol

Actually I just went and scrutinised them both and the 266 has a more precise point, so it will be more accurate in little brows... IMO
