The MAC Makeup Thread

12 hours til I can get my Cool Heat! w00t!

Who knows, if I have extra money I might go for Blue Flame-because anything looks better when I put it over Crystal Avalanche. I just hit pan on that today, the first time I hit pan on a non-broken product. Go me.

I have this thing with MAC. I always seem to want hard to find, discontinued things! I just bought Moth Brown eyeshadow - I had it when it came out and gave it away and now I want it back. I have a few older MAC palettes that I spent a LONG time searching for!

We should post photos of our MAC collections!!!

Well I don't have a ton of shadows compared to a lot of people, but Crystal Avalanche is one that gets daily use (most of the time) and I hit pan after three months. I would totally post my MAC but a) my camera stinks, and b) I keep adding and adding and adding to it.

So I got my Cool Heat today. Tropic Glow has a good amount of glitter in it but it isn't gaudy. It is fairly sheer, but still gives good colour payoff. I definitely recommend it. Something about teal eyes calls for pink lips. Then Solar White is amazing. Everybody run out and buy two. It works great as a blender colour, great in the crease, great as a highlight, or just for an all-over neutral wash. Cool Heat I was a bit miffed with. It is hard to get onto any brush except my 275 (I have that, the 252, and 217...so yeah). It also doesn't go on very easily, so it's hard to get it to look neat. It will take a lot of work to get that one right. It is great as a liner though with the 212. I do say get it but it's not one I will use every day.

I kinda want to get Warming Trend since it is a Veluxe Pearl, and then maybe give the others a chance. Eventually.

^ Thanks for the tip on Cool Heat, I was contemplating online purchase, but I'm going to go into my store and see if it's available there for a preview first!

On another note, I just got my MAC Lip Conditioner Stick in Strobe Rays after reading good reviews, and it's making my lips peel and shred!! Damn, I'm so disappointed. I've been applying Blistex lip balm before using it, which is counterintuitive.

Oh no! One thing I recommend for peeling lips is the CO Bigelow Medicated lip remedy-and not just because I work at B&BW. The stuff WORKS. It's amazing for cold sores, chapped lips, and just to keep lips healthy. Give it a whirl if you can.

Cool Heat is definitely something you will want to try in the stores. I finally figured out how to get the Cool Heat to work for me-the 275 brush will give a softer wash of colour, but use the 212 and it makes an amazing liner. I am contemplating buying a backup of it because I know that I will be doing a ton of blue/teal looks this summer and fall. I have heard that Warm Chill is the worst of the bunch though because it has so little colour payoff-you can't see it even over PP's from what I had heard. I am considering getting the other four though. I normally do not do darker looks however Blue Flame is a VP, which I love, and I can use it as liner or for some more depth. Climate Blue turns very pretty on from what I had heard. Again another case of normally too dark for me but must try. They didn't have Gulf Stream when I went in but I do plan on getting it unless it turns out to be as bad as Warm Chill. Warming Trend is nice. I don't do neutrals but figure every girl should have at least one, right?

I did my first round of purchases from Cool Heat. So far I only got Solar White which is definitely a must have and Warm Chill. Trista, I know you don't like Warm Chill that much and I agree with you that it is not that pigmented but it really is a lovely base and with a little water a nice soft colour for summer.

I checked out Cool Heat today and totally passed on everything. Nothing struck me as must have.

I just bought Mac Fluid line in macroviolet today. I decided not to buy the brush as I had an Estee Lauder brush which was of a similar size and shape. But after trying it with the Estee Lauder brush it doesn't seem to work too well..the color isn't as intense as I'd like, or maybe it's because I'm doing it wrong??

Now I don't know whether I should go buy the MAC brush..but supposedly it's like $18 or something..which is more than the actual Fluid line pot cost..and I think 18 bucks is pretty expensive for a brush...so can anyone suggest cheaper alternatives?? Or do i HAVE to buy the brush to get a good result?

I've never tried the Fluidlines but one option is to buy a brush set, there is one coming out with Colour Forms that has the 212 which is good for that. I would recommend buying the brush only since I think MAC's are some of the best out there.

Speaking of Colour Forms...They had everything out to try for pre-order so I was able to play with it a bit yesterday! It's everything I hoped for and more! First things first, the brush sets are amazing - I pre-ordered the 5 Advanced Brush set in purple. The lipsticks are lovely! They're very moisturizing and go on fairly sheer with a subtle shimmer. The Colour Form Powder is subtle and has a nice smooth texture. The Rich Metal Highlighters have a great texture and the color payoff is wonderful. Both palettes are very wearable.

I only pre-ordered the brush set but will probably end up ordering the cool eye palette, Dark Influence (purple) and Female (subtle pink/green/gold) RMH, Inner Hue (coral) and Rose Go Round (perfect sheer red) lipstick, and both Colour Form Powders. I am so excited for this collection to finally be mine :woot:

Whoa you are lucky! I might go pick my MAC girl's brain and ask if they have the stuff out to try yet. That will really influence my decisions...so far I am thinking about getting Rose-go-Round, Play Around Pink Colour Form powder, and all the pigments except Jardin Aires. The brush sets are nice, but I just got the eye set from the holidays (at the CCO) and that's where brush sets usually end up so I can wait. Same with the palettes. I want the one with Oh Garnet in it though.

i tihnking of colour form's lip stick, the idea of the lighter core seems quit eniciting (sp?!) ?!

and yea the pigment, wanna got one and worry spilling... other then pressing them together any other tips?

I bought Climate Blue and Blue Flame. They work really well for me (brown eyes, pale skin), so I'm happy.

Climate Blue is especially pretty.

I agree about the Cool Heat. It's tricky to layer on, and it smudges in weird places. But it makes a lovely, blue-pop liner.

As for Color Forms, I'm looking at one lipstick, two pigments, and perhaps one of the eye palettes.

Well how I do it is I always make sure I have enough time to sit down and do the pigments when I am doing my makeup, then I open the top, pat it down so that the little plastic topper stays on, then I slowly turn the plastic topper on its end until it is flat with the pigment side up. I tend to apply from the topper, the only exception being a pigment like Aire-de-Blu.

I'm thinking of buying several shades of pigment and splitting them with my sister..anyone know where to buy makeup pots for filling??

Any beauty supply store will carry that kind of stuff-I have considered doing something like that but I love my full-sizes WAY too much-I carry 7 in my makeup bag.

Shoooot, I just looked at the product swatches for Color Forms on Temptalia!! :bounce:

I want more pigments now...heh.

Thank goodness for my birthday money.
