The MAC Makeup Thread

The snow is going to keep me from getting there...but I am going to hope that they don't sell out of Coral Polyps by the time I have a chance to get out of the house.

I may try to make an appointment for the 27th... there's a bunch of basics I've also been meaning to pick up so I might as well get a make-over out of it. I imagine they'll still have most of the Dame Edna collection. Somehow I don't think the people of Calgary are going to be breaking down the doors for Dame Edna.

i went to my local macy's department store and the holiday compacts and kits were also 25% off...

Yeah I would definitely go the appointment route if you are meaning to get some of the basics. I have a feeling that Dame Edna will sell well, but Chill is definitely a lot more appealing to a lot of people right now, and BBR is going to sell really well because it's all extremely wearable. It's not like N Collection, which is neutral overload, and it isn't like Ungaro where it was neutral overload that was unwearable for many-there are actual colours in here, there are MSF's... For me it isn't as exciting, as it is designed to appeal to a much broader audience. Most people won't be able to pull off the Dame Edna looks.

I depotted a bunch of eye shadows the other night and found some of my mother's old containers so I have enough to B2M two things... but I think I'll save those for BBR because I'll be back in Ontario then and taxes are way higher. I'm going to limit myself to three to four things from BBR max because there's a few permanent neutrals I'm also after. Oddly enough, neutrals are the one thing I don't have any of.

As for Dame Edna, my opinion will likely change after seeing them in real life, but right now I want Kanga Rouge, Coral Polyp, Possum Nose Pink and Splendid. I may cut out Coral Polyp, though... will have to wait and see.

At least after these two collections I won't be buying anything for a while... probably not until March.

my sister uses fluidline, she says she is thinking of buying pencil so she can smudge her liner again! maybe she just isnt fast enough!

So I just saw swatches of the Dame Edna lippies, and honestly the lipglasses aren't screaming at me. Kanga-Rouge looks like Flash-n-Dash but without the shimmer, and I just backed up Flash-n-Dash, so I can skip. Coral Polyp is nice, however I did put Vegas Volt on my Christmas list.

After seeing someone wearing Coral Polyp, I've cut it from my list. It's a pretty color and I like that the lipsticks are so pigmented, but I think it's a little too orange for me. In fact... I'm thinking I may exercise restraint and just go for Kanga-Rouge and one lipglass.

I love the facecharts, but I think I have other things I can recreate them with.

Yeah I actually like the Dame Edna facecharts, but they are very easily duplicated. Wisteria is the only colour I am liking of any of the eye ones. I've been looking for a nice sky blue for quite awhile...but figure Mutiny could be used for the same effect. Climate Blue could probably be duped with Deep Truth.

Everyone seems to be saying the eye palettes are VERY chalky so if you can find a dupe, you're better off going for that.

Yeah but I seriously would consider getting Royal Tour if it gets to the CCO-I find I can work with chalkier shades, and I need a true sky blue.

I always forget about the CCO option because we don't have any (that I know of) here in Canada. If you can get it that way I'd go for it, though! Honestly.... I'm still a little tempted by Wisteria, too. I'm just trying not to think of it so that I don't get lured over to the dark side ... and poverty.

I just bought the Dame Lipsticks and the Wisteria eyeshadow...it just looked too amazing to pass of...and i love how the colours blend really nicely...i've been looking for those colours for ages, i was also trying out Nars shades to find something similiar...then poped out Wisteria and i got it:) its like my prayers were answered :P lol

I have enough empty makeup container for 2 free lipsticks and then some but I have no idea what to do with them. I do the same makeup everyday (smoky brown eyes) and I feel too made up with lip stick but it's free so I might as well try some. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am N3 pale with brown eyes, full lips and long brown hair. Id give them away but I cant even think of any friends that wear lipstick.

I'd probably go for one or two of the creme sheen lipsticks,
Creme d'nude if you can find it! Texture wise it's more like a lip balm with just a sheer wash of colour.

I cannot wait for Dame Edna to hit the UK
*waves goodbye to christmas money*

They have discontinued my fave lipstick shade

I used Fleshpot (a very pale neutral pink) lipstick as a base for all my rosy pink and light coral pink lipglasses but MAC has discontinued it. :(

Any suggestions on existing lipstick shades that would be close to Fleshpot?
Not too pinky, greyish or orangey.

Chaneller-Fleshpot is a Pro shade, so you can call the Pro hotline and they should have it.
Wisteria is getting more and more tempting (I meant to say that earlier, although I would get Royal Tour as well...) but I don't have the cash, so I will pass for the time being.
I ended up getting a few MAC things for Christmas. Haven't had the chance to try out my glitters yet-I got Reflects Bronze and Reflects Purple Duo. They both look AMAZING, so I can't wait to try them. I also got a 181 brush, which is lovely. And I DID get Vegas Volt-it is amazing. I love that it's an amplified, and the payoff is amazing. If you love corals and oranges, this is essential.
