The MAC Makeup Thread

I know,I usually buy everything too!!! And what's great is that my usual look is very un-MAC...I'm not for the bright colours or drama or anything, yet they use the same products to give me a great "natural" look:D .And when I want some more colour, they manage to show me to apply it in a subtle way not unbecoming a person in her 30's:lol: .

My MAC SA also remembers which shade of lipstick I always come back for... .

I love their eyeshadow boxes (with 4 colours, usu limited edition) and make-up brushes, and MAC is the only lipstick I use. I also use Lipgelee and Select Tint foundation.

Plus bronzers and I've bought some kind of shimmer powder which I haven't used yet...

I even buy eyeliners and lipliners, which I never ever use!! It's just such a high buying something from MAC,and it isn't that expensive;) .

Last year it got really bad for me..I went 1-2 times every week to the MAC boot..and couldn't leave without "something"..it all stopped pretty abruptly when the SA started recognizing me and actually started teasing me on my MAC fix :ninja: ..then I knew it was time to move on..or actually just stop buying makeup for a little while..

I need recs for a MAC e/s and khol

I've got black eyes and black hair and my skin is pale.
I'm looking for a brownish shade darker than Shroom.
I'd also like a neutral pink...

Also: Which is a beautiful khol shade? Which blue shade do you like most? Thanks.

If your skin is pale..., you can put warm powder or light foundation one step darker than your skin colour...., then ;
-eyeliner black brown to make your eyes lively, put liquid on eyelids
-eyeshadow from MAC... they have plenty of brownish colour
-Mac pencil eyebrow in taupe
-Blush your cheek with bronzer ; i.e: MAC, or lancome
-Brown Mascara... you can pick in MAC or Loreal
-last... you apply lipstick with shimmery brown or orange to pink

Just try... you can create your look different everyday....

I personally wouldn't go for a brown mascara, I would do black especially since your hair and eyes are dark. I'm fairly light and have light eyes and I wear black all the time

shadows- these are all darkish brown
satin taupe
tempting

pinkish-
naked lunch-this is great for a all over color- brightens
sweet lust- light pink

eyeliners-
I actually prefer the powerpoints over the kohls b/c they don't smudge
buried treasure is a nice dark brownish green
prussian- very dark blue- looks awesome on
and for a kohl
teddy- my personal favorite- shimmery bronzey brown

odd thing happened two days ago....
my studio fix that i bought a while ago...i was never really happy with it like 2 days after i bought it. it looked good...and then two days later, it started going dark/orange-y on me...?? it was NW20
but i decided to use it through, cos i can't always get to a counter or store... and just blended it really well....so i was by the MAC store two days ago, and i decided it was time to have someone else find my shade...and she did. in the store, she put it on and it looked MUCH better. I was happy, and so she grabbed one for me...
i get in the car...the number on it? NW20!! i cleared off the old makeup, and put it on with my brush, and it looked like it did in the store.......

i hope it's not gonna change again on me!!

weird question...could it change color because i was using the sponge (though i changed it often...), instead of the brush??

i'm just so confused.

also, anyone else have any other foundations they use from MAC? anything you reccommend...i wanna try other things..even if my studio fix doesn't change on me...lol, i want more options...

I used a primer (Shiseido Sun Protection Cream) under my Studio Fix.

However, I find the new Studio Fix Fluid to be better it doesn't look as cakey/powdery but has decent coverage and simply looks more natural. If you try that, be careful with the color choice since the new shades run fairly dark

Well I've also tried the Select SPF Foundation, that one came off as soon as some water touched my face (rain), so you can imagine how you will look like with that one after sports...

I love and swear by Select Tint foundation. It gives great coverage without looking too heavy.

I didn't like Studiofix at all..it looked like a mask on me...and I also have Moistureblend for my sins, but that goes heavy and cakey on me too.I have to blend it with the brush until there is virtually nothing left.

And I'm now using my foundation brush for cream blush so the Moistureblend is going to waste

PS...on the MAC fix front I had quite a haul on Friday...I bought Blushcreme in Pleasureful, and 3 eyeshadows called Haux,Rice Paper and Woodwinked, which work very well together.

I am eye make-up impaired so I got a lesson in how to apply, and it's great!!!

PS maybe the colour of your Studiofix seemed to change because you weren't applying it evenly or were using too much?? Just a thought!

Any other reviews, comments on Studio Fix Liquid...

how do you think someone who has mixed to oily skin like it? and does it really make that much of a difference using a primer.

and what about using Sponge Vs. Brushes?

yeahh, normally i'd think that maybe i was just applying it wrong, but the color changing on my face isn't the problem, it changed in the compact, it seems!! which was weird. cos i held up the old and new next to eachother and you could tell that the old one was darker..

i'm gonna look into more foundations from mac.. i used my new studio fix last night and it looked really good applied with the brush, so i'm happy with it, as long as it doens't change colors!! lol but i definately wanna have more options :)

is it just me or is prep and prime skin making your skin alot better than it was before even without having the primer on.

My skin looks and feels soo much better than before I started using a primer, now my skin is all smooth, the redness from past pimples are going away and it just looks alot better and this is when I don't have the primer on...I think it just helped....oddness? or not.

^can anyone tell me more about Prep+prime? Does it have sparkles through it? How is it compared to other primers?

Also, what are your MAC must-haves?

well some people gave bad reviews to the prep & prime because it supposedly broke them out, but the opposite happened to me...like I said above, it made my skin better and clearer than b4 even without wearing the primer. I LOVE IT.

does it have sparkles?.....no it doesn't have sparkles, it's undetectable (to me anyways)

well since I'm a boy and I don't wear colours just things for camouflage, my MAC must have is their Studio Fix Liquid Foundation, it's perfection. Best foundation ever. It was very natural, very workable, awesome buildable coverage, and I love how it was very mattifying. I have oily skin and to be able to use a liquid foundation that mattifies and with the help of the prep & prime skin it looks like it's been freshly applied throughout the day.

next thing on my list is the MAC's loose blot powder.

My MAC must haves

Brush # 263
Blot powder (I've been using the compact but eyeing the loose powder lately)
Rice Paper Eyeshadow
Lustre Lipstick in Syrup
Amplified Lipstick in Cosmo
Amplified Lipstick in Fast Play

My MAC must-haves ...

(NOT the Prep & Prime--it broke me out horribly. My skin hates to be suffocated, and that product did it.)
O lipstick--one of my favorite lipstick colors of all time
Plum Dandy lipstick (most of my lipsticks are Frost)
New York Apple lipstick
pressed Blot Powder Light (somewhat hard to find color)
Ring O' Roses blush

I've been wearing Skew for a coral color--do you guys think I might be missing something better? Any suggestions?

Skew is pretty  I've been eyeing that color myself..
Trish McEvoy has a really pretty coral pink gloss called babydoll.. you might like.. I wear it religiously during summer..

it may be because of the sponge. the sponge applies a lot more product and is harder to blend out. it also holds onto the oils when you're continuously putting it on your face. so it's going to deepen up the color.

My must haves are:

*Studio fix NC 20 and NW 20 ( I use both colours cause one is too yellow and the other is too pale for me, so I mix them to achieve a perfect match )
*Blot Powder in Medium Dark
*Powder blush in Harmony and Sheertone blush in Tenderling
*Beauty Powder in Sunsparkled pearl (new collection)
*Lustre lipstick in Apres Sun and Freckletone
*Eyeshadows in Omega, Retrospect, White Frost, Orb and All that Glitters
*Eyeshadow in Shadowy Lady and Smut
*Eyeshadow in Seedy Pearl for eye contour to disminish the look of bags and dark circles ( its a sheer iridescent lavender shadow )
*Brushes 129, 187, 224 and 212
