The MAC Makeup Thread

CCO=Cosmetics Company Outlet, also known as Cosmetics Company Store. It's all the Estee Lauder brands, such as EL, Clinique, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Prescriptives, and then DKNY and Michael Kors fragrances and so forth. Anywhoo what they sell are items that were seasonal items, overstocks, discontinueds, et. al. for 30% off retail (or around there...a MAC e/s is $10, pigments are $13.75, and so forth). They had a lot of the holiday canister sets, the holiday bag sets, a few palettes, some shadesticks, a few single e/s, a TON of lip stuff (assorted Lipglass, Lacquer, Plushglass, Chromeglass, 3D Glass, Lipgelee), and the like. They had a lot of old blushes and such, including blushcremes from Lure (as well as Aquavert shadow).

If you live in NYC, I know that there is one out at that huge outlet mall in NY.

^ i get all my mac stuff at 50% off anyhow, though, so the prices wouldn't benefit me. but i might be able to find some discontinued shades that i miss! how can i find a cco near me? ^_^ which outlet mall in new york? there's so many malls! :p

Yeah, I guess that does negate it, but you are able to find DC and LE stuff so it evens out. There's one at Woodbury Commons, which is probably the closest to NYC, and it's one of the top outlet malls in the country. They could potentially even have some MSF's.

^ woodbury commons! i know how to get there! :buzz: thank you for the info! i can't give you karma again, but thank you, thank you! ^_^

Yeah, let's just say it's a very dangerous outlet mall as far as the pocketbook is concerned...:shifty: If possible, you might want to go to one that isn't as big (an outlet, that is) because they could potentially have better selection. It also helps to call in advance, ask them if they got a new shipment in, etc.

^ you seem to know a lot about this! this is awesome! :mowhawk: thank you so much! i am going to have to wait until i get paid again because just as you said, shopping always hurts my pocket. i always over-spend!

^my problem, too! i splurge on MAC so often that it's crazy! The two foundation brushes I bought recently...when I only needed ONE! Plus, I had to get a Fix+ spray and some concealer from them, as well...I'm skint now!:cry:

Same here. I haven't gotten any brushes yet, but hopefully when I go up to the CCO I will get one of the holiday brush sets. I have to watch out though because yeah, Uncle Sam is blessing me fairly soon but at the same time Naughty Nauticals and Dazzleglass come out on the 1st...but figure I got 9 items from Heatherette, the most I had ever bought from an LE collection was 2. The nice thing about Cool Heat is that the shadows do not have specialty packaging, so it can make it easier to pass on some-to hopefully cut down from 7 to 4 or 5.

Which do you think will be the items to sell out first in NN? I know that usually pigments do not sell out that fast, which is very good news for people like us who do use the pigments. Mutiny would look really good blended with Aire-de-Blu or to create an even lighter version of the shadow that I just mixed...(Teal pigment, Aire-de-Blu pigment, and Jewelmarine glitter) Some of the Dazzleglasses will probably go really fast, there's only maybe 6 shades that I want though but I'll have to see what looks good on. The Comet Blue is very sheer.

^I don't see anything from NN selling out, to be honest. The collections with special packaging are usually the only ones that sell out fast. If it's anything though, it will probably be the lipsticks, most likely the red one.

The Dazzleglasses might be big sellers, but I haven't heard good things about them, so I'm gonna skip those.

Anyway, the only things I'm getting from NN are the pigments - everything else looks pretty blah to me.

If you love pigments then Colour Forms (the Nordie's Anniversary sale collection) will be your downfall...I heard it has pigments in it. Temptalia had a thing about it, but it was taken down...but I saw 6 pigments, only one being a repromote (Jardin Aires).

Also from what I am potentially hearing about the Solar Bits (Solar Field), they're similar to pigment but a bit creamier.

i want a holiday brush set so badly. :(

Don't know how close San Ysidro is to LA, but there's one there...there's also one at Camarillo and then one in San Diego (there's a site that has listings of outlet mall stores and which mall they are in).

I am not very familiar with MAC, but I did have the lipglass a few years ago. It was too sticky for my tastes, almost like they mixed a little Elmer's glue in.

Thanks Trista, I've also heard that there's on in Las Vegas, where I'm going too this summer.

Hi

I go to the CCO in Woodbury Commons all the time. They have MSF --- they had Glissade and Lightscapade last time I was there. I bought both for $17.25 each. They had lot of pigments and all the past Holiday sets (palettes, pigments and all that stuff)

Lucky...I hope that the next time I go up to a CCO they have some MSF's because they piqued my curiosity...the best part is that for the average consumer they probably would be seen as just a pretty product, but then you get MAC-o-holics like myself...

Oh and Aire-de-Blu has horrid colour payoff. It is very pretty, but VERY sheer. I would have to use mixing medium to make it look decent on its own, but paired with Moon's Reflection it is very nice. Now all you pigment fans...what are your favourite pigments? I have a feeling I am going to LOVE Helium, but Provence was so disappointing to me. I have Jardin Aires and love it, I use it in a lot of the shadows that I press. Pink Pearl is a good one too. Violet is very subtle which is good for how dark it is. Teal is very concentrated but I pressed a mixture that was that, some Aire-de-Blu, a little Jardin Aires, and then Jewelmarine glitter and it turned out very nice.
