The MAC Makeup Thread

Okay I am not really familiar with this thread, but I tried using Studio Fix powder some years ago and even though it looked perfect, my skin broke out after a while. I stopped using it. Has anyone experienced this or is it just me? I’ve recently bought loose powder and blush from MAC again and I am keeping my fingers crossed my skin doesn’t break out this time.

^MAC foundations generally have adverse affects on certain skin types...I suggest something more breathable that offers the coverage your skin needs!

fluidline have started to smudge under my eyes, spesh blacktrack. anyone have any tips and advice for this not to happen?

I'm thinking about getting a foundation from MAC, I hardly ever use foundation because I'm not used to, but if I do I wear one from Clinique. Which one should I get, the Mineralize Satinfinish or the Studio Fix Fluid?

^thanks! May I ask why?

PD: I like the quote on your signature, do you speak Spanish? ^_^

^ well, imo, the studo fix feels more masky on, and the satin finish gives you more of a glow. :D

and yes, i am half spanish! :flower:

try dusting loose powder (or the studio fix compact) on the lashline before you apply fluidline. i had the opposite thing going on...i was getting that little faint line across the top of my lid.

this made me stop using fluidline for about a year, but i wore it to a wedding recently (my sister still uses it) and LOVED the way it looked! it was so fresh and stays inky black, so now i'm using the powder first trick.

btw, fluidline is even easier to apply with brush 263. i DO NOT have a steady hand, and this brush makes it so incredibly easy to apply. it's a mac store exclusive.

Just an FYI that many of the freestanding stores are launching the Dazzleglasses tomorrow. Also the Mineralize loose powder is up on the website; it was released a month ago in Nordie's stores but now it's official.

No prob; I'm heading to my local freestanding store (we have one that is two bus rides away from me, so less than an hour, in addition to a bajillion counters) in the next little bit, so I will try and take some pictures if they have them.

If my freestanding does not have them (I know some are launching them on the 1st), I will be getting a couple Lustreglasses...

So the local MAC store did get the Dazzleglasses, and they also have a good amount of both Fafi as well as Heatherette. Ironically the only lipstick from Heatherette left was Hollywood Nights (which every counter sold out of first). There was a LOT of Fafi, I think two or three lipsticks and then at least two of the lipglasses. My new MAC guy also let me play around with the pigments for Naughty Nauticals. Mutiny is a definite turquoise-y blue and it is vibrant, but it's still on the edge of sky blue. Lark About is a lilac-toned white. I'm loving it because of that, although it's a very flaky one so one will always want to use primer with it.

Anywhoo the Dazzleglasses I bought today were Love Alert and Ms. Fizz. Love Alert is the really red one, and it is gorgeous. I cannot wait to try it over Port Red from Naughty Nauticals. Ms. Fizz is PHENOMENAL over Hollywood Nights. Actually, so is Love Alert.

Here are a couple of swatch pics that I took, with and without flash. The key goes:

1. Love Alert
2. Ms. Fizz
Then for the next ones, it is always Love Alert on the left, Ms. Fizz on the right.
3. over Lollipop Lovin' (Heatherette)
4. over Hollywood Nights (Heatherette)
5. over Raspberry Glace (Clinique)
6. over Passionfruit (Estee Lauder)

The pics do not do it justice though! Trust me.

^ i really love the love alert one! i am so tempted to go out and buy it tomorrow now that i've seen it like that! :D

that's too bad it's an exclusive.. I like the sound of the 5 cool eyes

^It's a Nordstrom exclusive in the US. It will be released internationally in August, but I'm not sure where.

I am so stoked for that! I just KNEW that there would be pigments involved and yes, I have Jardin Aires but it's the one I mix with most frequently. I don't like palettes usually, but the price is decent and if the shades actually look nice I will definitely be buying some (the warm more than likely as there are two Veluxe Pearls).

The contents of the brush sets are (for those who don't know the number for each one):

Basic: 224 (the tapered blender), 242 (shader), 266 (small angle brush), 129 (powder brush), 190 (foundation brush)
Advanced: 212 (flat definer brush), 219 (pencil liner brush), 275 (angled shading brush), 168 (angled face countouring brush), 187 (duo-fiber face brush)

Depending on what I get up at the CCO for brush sets, I might pass on these but the advanced one...it just seems too hard to!

Thanks peace...something else for me to put on my list for the anniversary sale! I like the sound of warm eyes.
