The MAC Makeup Thread

I saw an MES trio from the holiday collection and omg they look amazing!! This and Ungaro are going to kill meeeeeeeeeeee. Thanks goodness I have a few GCs saved!

Oh Garnet was originally from the Adorn collection back in 2004. I have seen pics of everything and that was THE best Holiday collection. The colour stuff was all jewel-themed (eyeshadows included Peridot, Amethyst, Agate, Beaded, and then another one), and there were the jewels and lots of different things. The palettes were THE best ones ever. They said MAC on them in Swarovski crystals. There were 9 or 10 different palettes that year between the eyes, lips, and the exclusives, and I have the Sak's one. I want to get all of them eventually though. Oh Garnet is an Amplified Creme lipstick. I am considering trying to track down a full-size of it.

There is also a Dazzleglass called Miss Dynamite that will be in the Holiday collection, and it's described as "true gold with gold pearl". I was hoping for a crimson red with blue and violet reflects but hey, I'll take it. Not to mention that if Dazzleglasses show up at the CCO's soon I have to make my way up there.

So excited! Tuesday is the CoC event, so I might be coming back with some Lipglasses. Also there is rumour that the big February colour collection is going to be Hello Kitty themed.

i went to the MAC store and im not particularly interesting in the starflash and the lusture lip stuff @_@ but the fall winter trend review is far more interesting :P

I'm just excited because there are Reflects glitters included, and I might get some when I do my Manish Arora order. Trust me, Starflash is good for some but I wasn't overwhelmed either. As for the Lustre Twins, definite no-I don't do the longwear lip colour. Mainly because conventional lipsticks require more applications, thus I actually use them.:p

I think the Ungaro collection is shaping up to be really good. I think I want the beauty powder and the paint pot (which will be my first).

I am definitely getting that BP, and potentially the See-Thru Lip Colour. The coral shadow looks appealing, but it is a matte, so it automatically gets skipped. I think I might be able to skip the Suite Array Pearlglides except for Fly-by-Blu.

And in the Holiday collection there are at least lipsticks (the main one Red She Said is an Amplified...and GORGEOUS), Dazzleglasses, Beauty Powder blushes, and the MES trios. Guard your wallets, it will be a draining few months.

I was wondering whether the brushes at mac are worth the price?

When I asked the price of a simple eyeliner brush and shading brush I was shocked
Are they really that amazing or should I just stick with my cheap brushes :innocent:

To me theyre not..
I spent 10 dollars and got some brushes at Joanns, theyre made out of the same exact hair. Theyre just as tiny and work great. Also some of the brush sets on ebay (goat hair etc) are just as good. I bought a pink set a few years ago but I lost most of the brushes when I moved.

Ive also owned like 10 different mac brushes, but I dont really touch them as much anymore. Also the hairs on some of them seem to shed easily :/

I have always been pleased with the quality of my MAC brushes and I've never regreted spending the money on them. However, there are many lower end brands that put out an amazing quality product like POSH. I'd check into them if you don't want to spend they money yet on MAC.

I'm someone who tends to be cheap when it comes to brushes, so I usually buy the sets that are out at the holiday season. However, I wait until they show up at my CCO so that I can just pay $33.75 plus tax for them. I got the eye brush set from last holiday and they work really well for me. They aren't the same quality as the fullsized but I like the short handles better. I do intend to start getting full-sized brushes eventually...but I find that I do just fine with my eye brush set. I only need a few other brushes and I would be good. I also want to get the face set, mainly for the little 187 and 168.

Just got back from CoC and well, I could be in HUGE trouble. I had completely written this off because I hate darks, but there is truly something anybody can enjoy. I ended up picking up Rich & Ripe, Cult of Cherry, and then a backup of Tropic Glow. The lipsticks honestly don't look too special-many of them are repromos. The Mattenes are dark and will take a lot of work in order to not look silly when wearing, but still nice. The lipglasses are the best part of the collection. I honestly could get all 5 of them. I only saw Blooming blush, and it looks really nice.

The quads are nice, each one has their strengths and their weaknesses. Honestly, if you have Bitter and were considering buying the quad that has Sharp in it just for Sharp, don't waste your money. Spiced Chocolate however is a lovely one. I think that it will sell out.

Also saw Overrich, and it's overrated to me. None of the pigments are really remarkable. You do not need to get Copperbeam AND Heritage Rouge, they are so similar it's not funny. Mega-Rich is more gold than anything. Antique Green is nice though. I didn't see Blonde's Gold, which is the one I wanted to try the most, but that might be the one that I get.

Thanks for the great review, Trista!
I am passing on CoC and Overrich. Both have some nice stuff but I think I have way too many things and I'm holding out.

It's definitely a good idea to hold off. I know that Ungaro and Gold Fever have pieces I want but because of Manish Arora, I'm skipping them for the most part. As for the rest of CoC, I will definitely get Blooming, and then Cherry Blossom lipglass. I can pass on Jampacked for now, it's too plummy for my tastes. I will give Overrich a second chance when I see it officially released at Nordie's.

I picked up Blonde's Gold pigment yesterday and it's lovely. It is, however, extremely close in color to Jardin Aires. So if you missed out on Jardin Aires I would definitely pick up Blonde's Gold. If you already have it you could pass on Blonde's Gold and not miss much - or you could be like me and buy it because you're a sucker for pigments

I wasn't blown away by CoC. I went expecting I would at least buy So Scarlet l/s but, as with most reds, it just looked fuschia on me.

A friend of mine bought me Mauvement pigment and the texture is different from the original release of Mauvement. It's somewhat silkier and not as chunky. A beautiful color.

So Kiss and Makeup just released details on the holiday collections-well at least the sets. I haven't seen much on the actual Red She Said colour collection, however there are the following:
Little Darlings-the sets of mini Lipglass/Lustreglass (there will be coral, pink, and neutral...), pigments/glitters (the warm is Gold Dusk, Gold Mode, Gold Stroke, Melon, and Reflects Antique Gold; the cool is Frost, Quietly, Pinked Mauve, Teal, and Reflects Blackened Red), and eye pencils/Soft Sparkle.
Adoring Carmine-the lip bags
Passions of Red-the eye and lip palettes-four eye palettes (Classic, Warm, Cool, and probably either Smokey or Trend) and three lip palettes

Also they released details of Metal Urge (7 brushed Metal-X shadows, a ton of Liquidlast, 3 pigments (including a new one), and 4 Reflects glitters.

And don't forget, next week Suite Array launches (eyeshadow "suites" and Pearlglide liners), as well as Ungaro (lots of neutrals/mattes...supposed to be a very ageless collection) and Gold Fever (Nordie's exclusive).
