The MAC Makeup Thread

I'm a little confused by the mineralize sheersheen powder. Is it meant for cheeks only, or for the full face? The description on the site is a bit evasive. Also, does anyone own the new mineralize powders? I'd love a review!

The Sheersheen powders look to be an all-over thing. You could dust it over the eyes, but it's probably meant to be more of a face/cheek thing.

As far as the Mineralize, are you talking about the loose foundation? I don't wear foundation, but a lot of people who have tried it love it...but they detest the "capplicator", because it CAN be messy. If I were to try a MAC foundation, I would definitely try out the Mineralize Loose.

Oh sorry, I meant the sheer sheen blusher type things, although the foundation looks good too. I need something that is full coverage, but the NC15 and NW20 are always too dark. Whats a pale girl to do! I ideally, just want to look like this -

How can I have skin like that. I want to look like that!

I've heard that MUFE does some really good really light foundations...MAC's tend to skew a bit darker, and because I get really pale in the winters but tan in the summers, foundation is essentially useless to me.

MUFE is Make Up For Ever, and it's an artist-geared brand. They do have it in Sephora, and it has some really nice stuff. Lighter foundations, lashes to rival Shu Uemura lashes (but at $14 a pop), giant cakes of shadow, liner, and mascara, and so forth.

I've been researching, and no one sends it to the UK. First Kevyn Aucoin, now MUFE, I really, REALLY want to buy this stuff, it looks amazing!

I'm trying to construct a wardrobe based around my skin color and what looks good for it. I wear Select SPF 15 NC30 like I mentioned before. Who in terms of celebrities have skin that suits that type of foundation? It would help determine what works and what doesn't. thx

Thanks for all your opinions Trista!!! I like to know people's real experiences with make up, not the 'its great, will work for everyone, flattering on all skin types, etc.'. let's face it, some things work for certain people, some things don't. I like your honesty though- thanks!!

Not a problem! I definitely don't believe in sugarcoating, in fact the MAC guy I have down at the freestanding IS honest, and he will tell me what to get and what not to get. I wish he had talked me out of Juiced...the colour has zero staying power. The one good thing is the Dame Edna collection, since two of the lipsticks are Amplifieds (Coral Polyps and Kanga-Rouge). I tend to find that if you want to do a brighter colour, it's best to go Amplified or Lustre.

twinkleberry-I can't really help you out with your question, since I don't usually wear the foundations. It also is hard to tell what shade they actually would be, since there is all the tanning and everything in Hollywood-not to mention for me, I am two different shades of skin depending on the time of the year.

Thank you, Trista.

Are you talking the Ungaro lipstick? It's way too pale for me...I'm much more into my Girl About Town.

Oh, and I saw swatches for the holiday palettes, and I can skip all of the eye ones. The only shade I was really going for was the green, and it is DEFINITELY a lustre with no payoff and loads of glitter.

But then again, I'm all for the natural look. I don't want people to know that I'm wearing anything else than mascara.

Hahaha not me...I have to wear the full face or else I look sickly...and plus my eyes change colour. Combine that with my skin and hair colours, and I can do most colours on the eye.

Girls, I'm so happy...In two weeks the holiday collection will be available in Germany!
I'm so excited about it, I'm really looking forward to it and I guess I'll like a lot of things (maybe too much :/ ).

Yeah. Party! :D

I do a full face too...in tinted moisturizer and sheer colours though :D I just keep the colours as close to my own as possible, I feel better that way. Sometimes I do feel the urge to just slap a lot of makeup on, very rarely though :D
