The MAC Makeup Thread

oh i am still waiting for the bruntte/blond/redhead and the hello kitty collection coming out the next year.

I am getting the blond MSF for sure. probably one or two lipstick but im pretty unsure about the eye shadow.

but i hope the hello kitty is done with the more old skool style picture of hello kitty with stronger colour, rather then the recent super duper pastel regime.

I definitely have a feeling it will be a LOT of the latter, but some bright colours too. It will probably be very light on the lip, or bright pinks. I am thinking Dress Camp meets Barbie.

Hair is one that I could spend a ton on, but I am just getting the MSF's and then maybe a lipstick or lipglass. None of the eye shades look particularly interesting to me, and the only good one-French Cuff-is a Lustre. These MSF's sound like a baked version of the Bobbi Brown Shimmerbricks.

^ then my hello kitty purchase would proably limited to lip and cheek/face stuff if it pastel >.< (i dont like pink eyeshadow)

btw, which MSF you gonna buy, trista? im a bit looking foward to them, i think i would turn out better then petticost imo :P :flower:

See I know I would get the brunette since I am a brunette, but I think I could get use out of both of the other ones. I'm not somebody who does the strict makeup-for-hair-colour thing. It also depends on the veining. I like extreme veining-it needs to look like art.

i dont think many people do "makeup type for your hair" thing anymore.
it sounds dated. much like "dressing for your season"

^ those are good guide if you are new to cosmetics or styling, but somtimes it works the other way around.

like personally, bronzer always look disasterous on me, so i would steer clear from that, so when i heard only blonde MSF have pinks in it, i will put like big bucks on it.

somthing like that.

The way it is though...there's a girl in my work who just went from blonde to brown, and you can really tell the differences in makeup that would need to happen. For example, she needs to wear some colour on her lips at all times. And if I go redder, I find that purples tend to look amazing on me.

I think I just got given a bit of a Mac holy grail tonight by the lady I co promote my monday night club with. She said that she was working backstage at a New York Alexander McQueen show, she couldn't remember what year, and was given a load of Mac make up and she knew that I'd been looking for a nice black lip gloss, so she gave me this brand new, in its box Mac black lipglass and carbon nail varnish. I'm in LOVE with them, the lipgloss is intensely glossy without being shimmery, and looks like patent leather on my lips. I feel blessed!

I think you are talking Tux Delux-it was from a late-year collection a few years back. I am definitely wanting New Year's Yves lipglass-but will never get it.

Wow, you really know your biscuits don't you!? I am almost scared to use it for anything other than special occasions now, what with it being so rare. Then again, I'm sure Mac will bring out another black lipglass at some point, what with current trends etc.

The holiday sets are up on the UK website :)
The only thing I want is the smokey eye palette which my parents are getting me for Christmas.

Lancome and YSL both put out black glosses as a limited edition, and MAC also does Pro Gloss and Lipmix in a black, so you could make your own.

Oh, and Nordie's has the holiday brush sets for $35 instead of $50.

This doesn't sound like Tux-de-Luxe to me. Mine was a dark greyish-purple color, with lots of visible flecks of glitter.

I don't think it is Tux Deluxe, I have been told it comes from a 1999 collection, so it's nearly ten years old! I hope I'm not going to get ill from using it!

Then it's WAY older, but that's definitely a 1999-type of thing. Heck, around that time I rocked the black lips.

Well, I'm confused, I don't know whether to wear it or frame it! It's really cool either way....

This is what I got from the holiday collection and I'm really happy about it. I hope there're waiting some stocking fillers from the collection for christmas for me ;)
