The MAC Makeup Thread

You've got very similar colouring to me, except I am more olive...I have green-ish eyes and darkish-brown hair. As far as a good pigment goes, Violet is a nice one to have, and if you have green eyes, it's absolutely essential. It does seem intimidating at first, because it is so dark, but it blends nicely. I also recommend Fuschia, as it is a truly versatile colour-works on eyes, cheeks, and lips. As far as paints go, they are getting rid of most of the paints and replacing them with Paint Pots-but honestly, I have some paints and never use them. As a shadow base, they aren't spectacular, and I do prefer CCB's.

The one foundation I've heard decent things about is the Mineralize...but even then, there's a lot of people who aren't into MAC foundations-between funny shades/colours, not enough super-pale stuff...

thanks Trista, I will look into hello kitty and the Blond MSF

btw does anyone find that MAC ppl are bit bronze-orexic or this symptoms ony happens on me?!

It could be just you...a lot of the MAC girls who I notice are more into lighter blushes and so forth.

ok, i because i found out that most people when they put bronzer on me, they tend to start few few strokes on keyfeautre like nose bridge and cheekbone like a normal application would, but then they very quickly dust it all over my face and addicted-ly press more and more bronzer on me... I always end up look like an orange....

See part of it is that the MAC counters, I find, aren't lit that well and so in order to get the bronzer to show they have to cake it on sometimes. I think people sometimes don't understand that bronzer is supposed to look natural.

I personally like the paints. I only have one in a kind of dark brown/bronze-y shade that I like to wear on it's own (without eyeliner or anything else) or layer it on top of other eyeshadows but it does wear off fairly quickly. I very rarely have the problem of my eyemakeup wearing off or creasing in my lids, but it almost always happens if I wear the paint heavily.

^I just have Chartru and Canton Candy, and they are lovely, but I never use them. I got Chartru mainly for shadows like Pagan, and it does work decently, but for my shadows that take more work I use a brush like a 231 or 219 with a CCB, as the tackiness that the CCB has allows more product to get onto the lid, meaning brighter colour.

However I would love Hot & Sour paint because I am a fanatic of the yellows. I would be over the moon if Bright Sunshine got repromoed in a collection this year...because I need to stock up.

I just got What a Do from the Bruentte collection, i am loving it...i think it does really suit me...its a very natural colour...i just add turkish delight lip gloss by nars on top of it and i am ready to go:)

haha, i just got a postcard invitation in the mail for a launch party at the pro store for the Hello Kitty collection. i think this will be fun. 'drinks and sweets will be served'.... :woot:

Oooh I hope I get one! I know that the closest Freestanding isn't doing an HK pre-launch party, however I have one that's only a half hour south of that. I went to the Cult of Cherry event, and trust me you do NOT want to miss these events. You not only get to buy your stuff, but you usually get some sort of party favour. I know Heatherette had a colouring book and then Cult of Cherry had an apron (I have mine).

I got Studio Finish concealer in NC 30 yesterday...
its covers nicelybut unfortunately only works on my forehead which is the darkest part of my face, naturally  where the sun hits. it is a bit warm for me though. its more yellow when im more neutral but i think the difference is slight so i can use it but wont repurchase since its not a perfect match. i think for the rest of my face i'll look in to Nars Cream concealer which i heard is more neutral. im not into the lipstick form though because im scared i'll accidentally break it, i prefer the pots like MAC.

Is there any other way to find out about these events in advance/attend... or do you have to get invited?

I haven't gone to a MAC event since before my teen years and can't remember much.

I am loving the Melon Pigment right now. It is amazing for cheeks and gives such a lovely shimmery glow. Looks scary in the pot, kind of orange and not good for fair skin but it is so pretty on. I use it wet for my eyes too.

The easiest way is to call up a Freestanding store or counter in the area and ask if they are doing a pre-release party. They only do a couple events a year...it's different from the launch events. The launch events are all about the makeover with the new products, whereas the pre-launch is a chance to try and buy early. I went to the Cult of Cherry event, and it was crazy!

did MAC change the color & stickyness of Cultured lipglass?

i swear i(&friends as well) remember the color being much more purple which is why i liked it because it was so unique and great on my neutral/cool skin. i have some pictures from back then and my lips were purply pink in a good way :)

i still like the new color, its more pink now but its still flattering on me.

the newer lipglasses dont seem to be as sticky as they used to be but still just as opaque. i suppose it makes sense that they improve as they grow and learn what customers want but i just though this was interesting.
