The MAC Makeup Thread

After seeing loads of swatches and stuff, I'm kinda out of love with HK, I just want one lipglass and maybe a palette,
I'm tempted to skip the entire thing and save for sugarsweet.

Are Stuido Sculpt limited edition products or on going? did anyone try them out?

is that line the one with the Sculpt & Shape Duo? i saw a lot of bad reviews on those on youtube. they will work the first time but something about the product is defective because the powder would harden like the pigment wouldnt even come off and show on the brush. like it has a film over it.

if you want something for contouring, i like the Mineralize Skinfinish Naturals. the MKA used a darker shade because im light(NC15), Medium Dark and a white contouring brush on me. she applied it to lower part of cheekbone and just lightly to forehead, jawline, and chin. i was tempted to buy the contouring brush as well because it worked really well in the store but ive already heard a review that it doesnt stay as stiff after washing. im considering buying it later on but i dont contour anyways. right now i just use a small blush brush and the MSF Natural for 'warmth', kinda of like a more subtle bronzer without the super shimmeryness or orangey tones of bronzers. afterall its still winter here in Cali ;) so no need for the tan/bronzy look just yet.

I really liked the sculp and shape duo on my nose. I'm very pale and the lightest shade was perfect.

^ oo they sound like they would have a nice finish. thank you for the links, i hadnt heard of theses!

but damn! i just bought a Studio Finish Concealer in NC15. i havent tried NW15 which seems to be the only 15 they have for the Studio Sculpt line.

Yeah Studio Sculpt is different. The interesting thing is that the Sculpt/Shape powders are actually a Pro product, however they are sold as individual pans-so you can buy the contour or highlight that you want.

As far as Hello Kitty goes, I'm honestly very, very torn. I am going to have to try out both of the lipglasses I want, because I may be able to cut out Nice Kitty. As far as the lips go, Strayin' is actually looking nicer than Big Bow...but I can only get one. Pretty Baby is a definite, and all those items I have to get immediately because they WILL sell out. Reflects Blue is another must-have...but I have to cut it off there.

does mac ever really expire? I have some great pigments that I mostly just use for Halloween and costume parties but it just dawned on me they're all like 5+ years old.

i think the genreal rule that make up expires after a year max...but i always keep my make up in the frigde :flower:

^I think powder lasts much longer than any liquid, so they might last for more than a year

So I just got back from my MAC store. The Hello Kitty Collection is out a week early in NYC apparently. I went in to see if I could still pre-order, but I ended up getting the 2 lipglasses and the TLC I wanted. I really wanted to get the Too Dolly palette, but the shadows ended up being too chalky on me. But I'm really happy with what I got.

Powders will last a lot longer than liquids-less spoilage issues.

I know that Pro stores will tend to have products out a week early, but I can wait. At least I hope so. I am glad that I can pass on Too Dolly; as the only colour I really wanted from that was Romping.

I saw the other day that the MAC website changed a bit; the interesting thing is the discontinued products section. I hope that means they are for sale because there's a good 10 pigments, 20+ shadows, and several glitters that I want.

just got the the Brunette and Redhead MSFs today. the brunette one is quite dark... redhead is gorgeous

I saved some guidelines that appeared in "Town & Country" magazine. Eye and face powders can last from two to three years. Brushes and puffs should be cleaned monthly. Foundation can last one to two years. I thought this was important: a cosmetic chemist said that "products are only as clean as the fingers they come in contact with".

^ thats why im not down with having huge makeup collections. plus i just love new stuff *ooh la la*...so its always out with the old and in with the new and improved. and i usually have favorites and staples that i run out of and repurchase regularly.

I have a lot of stuff that is older, but it is fine and I have more sensitive skin so if it was bad I would be able to tell immediately. There are some things that I cannot live without...but many other things I know I will be able to eventually duplicate.

I bought the Studio Sculpt foundation today. Wanted to report for those that are interested - I've being wearing it all day, and I'm afraid to say that if you suffer from any oil, this isn't going to wear that well, as it does slide quite a bit. However, the coverage is beautiful for something that doesn't feel heavy at all. If you're fair, you'll be pleased to know that the NC15 is beautifully pale, and the effect is very dewy and healthy looking. I think I'll report back in a week after i've tried to see how it copes after i've put on a make up base. Anyone else currently trying it?

Wow, tell us more ...

Btw, Ida, I've been using Cle de Peau concealer & am very happy with it. It's expensive, but the texture is amazing.

tata your pale right? I also love how cle de peau is creamy and smooth yet sticky to the imperfections well but they only have 3 colors and the lightest is a little bit too dark. I mix it with mac concealer to get the perfect color but I just found dermablend to cover up bruises and I think it may be my new favorite for really stubborn pimples.
