The MAC Makeup Thread

Hmm thanks! I bought it!
And I love it, it's very light and does not look like I'm wearing foundation which is the sort of theing I'm after.

yeah it doesnt have that cakey effect and feels like second skin, but if you get the chance try Nars.

Turns out the new MES are Sea/Sky, Fresh Green Mix, Play on Plums, Odd Couple, Pink Split, and Love Connection. Also the Rose Romance quad is out at Nordstrom tomorrow.

Okay so some MAC news:

The Rose Romance quad does not come out until the 21st, to coincide with the Half-Yearly sale. I went today to get it, because it is my birthday, and they didn't have it (so I got Stop Look and Extra Amps Dazzleglasses).

Style Warriors is going to be huge, it's like Hello Kitty for MACaholics and the diehard fans. Fierce & Fabulous is supposedly like Funtabulous, but in Lipglass form.

Naked Honey is "where it's at". The skin salve and body wash are amazing.

Graphic Garden will NOT have brush sets, at least from what I know of.

In addition to the two DG's, I also got a 204 and then Evening Aura, plus I potentially am getting a Show Orchid.

^ oh Trista Happy Birthday :flower: :magic:
I have still saving for porcelain pink.

Why doesn't the MAC website have color descriptions anymore? It really helped me single out colors that would interest me.

Usually they do, you have to actually click on the product though.

You're right, but lately the LE collections don't have color descriptions. Maybe I'm not using the site in the right way.

No, they do...for some of them they don't list the shade finishes on the website (for example, Rose Romance lipstick didn't have the fact that it was a lustre listed) but they definitely have the shade descriptions. I should be able to remember them but I rarely can. For example, Mutiny is a frosty clean sky blue, Circa Plum is a frosty dirty midtone lavender, Silverthorn is a grey with silver pearl, and so forth. You just have to click on them. What products were you wanting to know the details about?

Okay, scratch the brush sets. There are going to be brush sets, but it is going to be a different concept of brush set, for Graphic Garden. There's also going to be a Lookbox, which is a North America exclusive, with a face product (either bronzer, Beauty Powder, or Belightful), two eyeshadows, a 181SE, a trial size Zoomlash, and then either a Dazzleglass, Slimshine, or Lustreglass. They'll be $59.50.

i ended up getting melba as my coral blush. it's very peach-y/apricot and i feel like it's heavily pigmented since both times i've used it, i had to subdue the color after application. i think i'm using too heavy of a hand.

can anyone recommend a good bright pink lipstick? do they last a long time? i only use myth and i'm happy with the results (especially the consistency, which is so nice and creamy), but i never notice if it comes off or not because it's so nude. i have the magenta pencil, which i wear with gloss, but i want a true barbie pink lip. btw, i have very fair skin, true brown eyes and very dark hair.

What brush are you using to apply it? The 188 would be a good one if you say that you use too heavy of a hand.

As far as a pink lip goes, Lustering, Sweetie, and Girl About Town are all really good ones. GAT is more fuschia but it's still a bright pink, and if you want the true Barbie pink you can always play with Lipglasses in order to get the right colour.

I am excited though because next Tuesday I am going to a Style Warriors unveiling! I want to do Eugenia's look for the collection-the intense yellow eye-but I'll probably do something different.

i have the LE fibre fan brush from ages ago. shouldn't this work? it seems like i'm still using too much, but i should also clean that brush.

i think lustering or show orchid is what i'm after in a pink lipstick. thanks!

Show Orchid would be a really good one-HOWEVER it is nationwide sold out at Nordstrom, so your best bet is to go to a MAC store or call the PRO hotline. The girl at the counter told me they only got 6 or 7 of Show Orchid for Colour Ready. Try online as well, I believe it's still in stock there.

As for the fan brush, are you talking the 184? That's actually a PRO brush now. What some people suggest is buffing in circles over the area you applied the blush on, small circles mind you, to get a softer look. I'd also maybe lightly tap a contour brush in it, pat it on, then buff.

I went to see rose romance and didnt really like it. The beauty powder blushes were nice but the cooler one looked too much like coygirl which I already have and the other was too peachy and barley showed up on my very pale skin. I have two blushes and the blonde degrade which is more than enough for me.

eyeshadows, on the other hand, are my weakness! mutiny was gorgeous and thats the only thing I got. I so rarley do bright makeup but I love to have colors like that for when I do.

Yeah Rose Romance wasn't really one for the MAC fanatics, but Style Warriors is, and Naked Honey is apparently amazing.

the number on the brush is very faint by now, but it looks like it might have said 180. at any rate it's looks has the white tips, but it's a fan brush. i will try the buffing circles technique.

i'm not in the states right now, so i'm sure i can find show orchid at a MAC store, which is usually where i shop anyway. i rarely buy from nordstrom, but thanks for the info. it is in stock online, but i want to see it irl when buying to be sure of the purchase.

I potentially will be getting it soon, I have heard it is similar to Hollywood Nights if that helps any.

Did your brush have a carved, intricate handle? If so, it was the 180. Try the buffing in circles though.

does anyone have any experience with MAC's whiter eye shadows? i really want a white-ish one but i have no idea if it'll look good or not.
