The Mascara Thread

^ it's really not that bad, jeanster! everyone says it looks like a torture device, but honestly, it's so easy to use once you get over how scary it looks. I've even convinced a couple of my guy friends to let me curl their lashes. Sure, they were scared as hell at first and quite reluctant, but after some casual conflict and struggle, they relented :) and admitted it wasnt bad at all. Just try it, slowly at first. Dont try to get all the way at the root right away.

What are your opinions on Lancôme mascaras (not thinking of a special one, just in general)?

my mom has been wearing Lancome mascaras since i can remember, so when i started wearing mascara i went for the same brand. i've had good results with them. i found them very light so they don't leave your eyelashes looking heavy. but that's me.

right now i have L'Extreme, and i'm quite happy about it.

i was in search of a new mascara today since my old one irritated my eyes and clumped. so i bought lancome's flextencils (supposedly for "full extension curving"). but now that i've read this thread, i'm not sure if i should exchange it for lancome's hypnose (more for volume) or definicils (just for definition and not volume). any suggestions? my lashes are not long or naturally curls so i have to use the eye curler before applying mascara. i'm hoping that the new mascara will give me the longer curled lashes that won't clump or smudge. eh, so confusing...

So this is what I found out about Lancome's mascara

so i went to the make-up counter today and tried hypnose and flextencils to compare. like everyone said before, the "best" mascara really depends on what you're looking for. the sales lady swears by hypnose. it has a distinct smell to it when you open the tube (not sure how to describe it). when i asked the lady, she said she "got used to the smell." but hypnose really gives you more volume, a very dark color, that va-va-voom look. but once you put it on, you can see the lashes out of the corner of your eyes. and everytime i blink, i see a shadow on my upper eyelids. flextencils is lighter if you just put on one coat. there's no distinct smell and you don't see your lashes' shadow. it gives you a softer look, imo. but both is nice, maybe one for day and one for night.

I've still not found my perfect mascara. 30,000 mascara tubes, $10,000 and 1200 return trips to the mall later, and I'm still a-waitin'.

I got a new brand from Sephora the other day; seriously hope this is the ultimate. It's called Supernova, by Fresh. Anyone ever heard of it?

You may want to check out Japanese brand mascaras. They're awesome!

Hahaha! Modelbehavior, I was kidding. I'm 23, but I feel like I've spent a lifetime searching for the right mascara :D

^ha! I know I said in the "don't waste your money on" thread that great lash was crappy, but it is okay, if you only apply ONE coat exactly. Or else, well, then it becomes crappy lash mascara, lol.

Nah. I hate Great Lash. But that's because I have no self control - I apply lotsa coats, over and over. Whoops :)

L'extreme is amazing, i have it too.

Oh, God, please do not use Maybelline lash discovery, anyone here. It is so bad. I tried it last night and is the worst by far. Way to thick and clumpy.

What does L'Extreme do? Curl/lenghten/voluminize?

it doesn't curl, not on me atleast, but it lenghtens. my eyelashes are wierd though, they are long and they point down. so i am addicted to a eyelash-curler.
