The Mascara Thread

Does anyone know if the Chanel Inimitable really, really thickens and voluminizes for that sex kitten look I'm looking for? Between that and the YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara, which one is better? Anyone actually tried both? I'd REALLY appreciate any response you have!
In my honest opinion YSL's suits for such looks better, really I have both now , but if you want that look you should try YSL's. but like Babypink920 said you will have two killer lashes with Chanel's

Hi HotSpot- not sure if you already got a response to this, but you definitely want to curl your lashes BEFORE you apply mascara- otherwise, since your lashes are already brittle from being dried out from the mascara, they run the risk of breaking much more easily. Also, having a good eyelash curler is key, or it can pull lashes out. I've heard great things about the Shu curler, and I've got the MAC, which I cant complain about. Hope this helps!

thanks! :flower:

I ordered the Chanel Inimitable, should arrive today or tomorrow so can't wait to try it after reading through this thread, it sounds like everyone likes it. It costs enough anyway, so it better be good! :D

Thanks, Babypink. Maybe I'll just follow your example and get both :) If I could just ask, I know you like the Chanel I better, but what were the results with both? Is Chanel more thickening, YSL more lengthening? I'm just trying to get an idea of what each one is like. I was happy with my Diorshow as of a week ago, and now it's disappointed me like the rest. :(

I find the YSL to definitely be more intended for volumizing...although it does lengthen some, but imo chanel's does a great job at both, but is better in the lengthening department, as I have to use 2-3 coats to get a fair amount of volume from it. hope that helps some

My Inimitable arrived this morning and I love it - my lashes appear so much longer and it gives them more curl. Used a couple of coats for lots of volume. :woot:

Out of all the mascaras I have ever used, DiorShow has proved to be the absolute best. The wand is huge. With one swoop on each eye, you're done. Mascara can be such a b*tch, too, top on. You have to be so cautious. Ooo i just love that mascara.

I just repurchased (for the third time!!) Maybelline Unstoppable. Its absolutely one of the best products ever made

My favorites are DiorShow and Benefit's Bad Gal. I feel like the two are comparable and Benefit's is a bit cheaper. The brush is pretty similar. I wouldn't recommend DiorShow's waterproof mascara though, it's almost impossible to take off (well, unless that's what you're going for!!!!)

For bottom lashes, I like Shu Uemura basic mascara. It never ever ever clumps.

I have been using Miss sporty waterprof £3 for a few months now and It works fine but I think I shoude go back the Biotherm mascara I have been using for a year.

Is there actually a mascara that is both thickening and lengthening and doesn't cost a fortune?

I've already tried Clinique High Impact Mascara (which is my favourite so far), Maybelline Volume Express, Chanel Inimitable and Estée Lauder MagnaScopic.

how do you do your bottom lashes without getting the mascara all over the place? what is the best (smallest?) brush/mascara for the lower lashes that doesn't clump? It seems that putting mascara on your lower lashes really opens your eyes up but I am clueless about the technique.

Maybelline Lash Discovery is great for the lower lashes as the brush is easy to handle due to its mini size. It's easy to control the wand when applying the mascara to the lower lashes. HTH http://www.maybelline.com/products/productDetail.aspx?prodid=31

I am heartbroken to find that Max Factor isn't sold at any Drugstores anymore. Now I'm on the quest to find a mascara comprable to their perfect "2000 Calorie" brand. Any suggestions?
I'm desperate!

Whatever mascara you all use, remember to replace it ever 5-6 weeks so you don't end up coating your lashes in bacteria. :) Can you say eye infection?

i was using Guerlain Divanora for the longest time. however, on a whim, i decided to try out the diorshow (which is unusual because the huge wand was intimidating).. and it was sooo worth the risk! the mascara wasn't clumpy, and it only took 1 swoop!
