The Mascara Thread

amazing avatar, inhuman
i rotate YSL effet faux cils (non waterproof) with hypnose, YSL for winter and heavier makeup and hypnose for day wear.
YSL effet faux cils is by far the best heavy duty volumising mascara i tried (my lashes are sufficiently long and curved but light and sparse) - one caveat though:the waterproof variant irritated my eyes and seemed to add less volume than the non waterproof one.
strong colour, strong perfume as well (pleasant imo), great brush and unsurpassed volume without clumping or spider lashes.
the only thing i can't rave about is the price tag :flower:

Thanks! Faux Cils sounds intriguing; I'll definitely give it a try. :flower:

I have tried every single mascara out there and diorshow is the best is you want long full lashes

I keep going back and forth trying new mascaras and so far absolutely nothing has compared with Diorshow. I love the look of very thick long lashes and nothing seems to beat it. Case in point I just tried the Armani Maestro mascara wich is great but its just not the same. I keep buying mascaras and nothing has come close though Lancome's Hypnose and Revlon's 3D extreme (very good drug store find only $8 but gives very thick lashes - just be sure to clear the excess product off with a tissue before using) are also quite good.

No matter what I try though I always wind up back at square one with Diorshow.

What about diorshow waterproof? WP formulas seem to never live up to the original... but I can only use wp, anything else won't hold a curl

has anyone tried MAC's new Plushlash? i don't normally have luck with MAC mascaras but from the reviews i've read, it doesn't flake, smudge, clump, and looks glossy/natural.

I so agree. I love diorshow so much. I know everyone loves bad gal but this is much much better!

The waterproof isnt as good but still great. Why do you need WP?

if it's not WP it will weigh my lashes down to their original form - pointing straight down, only WP stuff (no matter if department or drugstore) held the curl from my lash curler. I basically want lots of volume and lenght, so... everything :innocent:

What do you think of Lancome's Hypnose?
Do you recommend that one?

i pretty much never wear makeup besides chapstick if you even count that as makeup at all but i went to the nars counter yesterday at nordstrom and the lady was telling me how i should wear black mascara (for some reasons because i have brown hair, i always thought i should wear brown). so anyways, i got covergirl lash exact in very black today cause i wanted something cheap... has anyone had a good experience using it?

I second Helena Rubenstein's queen lash mascara!!!! It's amazing...never found anything else like it :)....

Another vote here! But recently, I wanted to try something new so I bought Lancome's Virtuoso, the new one with the curvy wand that curls & lengthens. So far, it's working pretty well too.

I want to buy a new waterproof mascara, but I can't decide between Chanel Inimitable or YSL - which do you think is better?

I just bought DiorShow, and am not happy with it. It seems drying and you have to apply so many layers... I actually prefer my Dr. Haushka mascara surprisingly...

I bought this out of desperation one day, and I actually really like it!

I'm choosing between YSL everlong and Sisley Ultra Volume, i like both, just can't decide.
