The O.C.

Season 1 was by far the best one! I loved all the classic Ryan-Marissa moments. The first time they met, the fashion show where she gave this pleasantly surprised look, the kiss on the ferris wheel, the debutante ball, and the New Years kiss.

I thought that was quite a terrible last episode.
I dunno.. maybe just too much information to digest all in one episode.

^ he slept with her when they were on a break, a short break.

Oliver was a very disturbed boy, was stalking Marissa and wanted her. Ryan didn't trust him but Marissa had full faith in him. And then Oliver tries to kill her, leaving Ryan to say I told you so. And Oliver gets sent to psycho camp.

As far as I can remember, that's what happened. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong though.
Thanks :flower:

The last episode was sad...I wish they would have brought Jimmy back though...I didn't like how Julie was w/Frank at the end (or so they seemed to suggest)...oh how I wish another network would magically pick it up...I don't think they could come up with a better show than this...

oh god that'd be awesome if another show picked it up... but seeing as how they kind of tied up all the loose ends and showed the future it kind of seems unlikely

Ryan Atwood spin off anybody?

^umm that would be awesome! but it probably wouldn't do well. do spin offs ever do well?

Great.I went to edit my post with the list of songs I liked and it lost my post because it was more than 10 minutes to compile my list.

Season One:

Space -- Something Corporate. When Ryan finds Marissa passed out in the alley in TJ. He carries her in his arms she is wearing a white dress type thing. (Same thing in the season 3 finale but different song!)

I don't think it was Space or whoever that did that song during that scene. If i'm not mistaken, wasn't it Mazzy Star's "Into Dust"? And then, I think in another season in another episode they played it again, but it wasn't Mazzy Star, it was done by Ashtar Command.

I didn't like the finale at all. I thought it seemed like the writers had assumed they'd be picked up for 22 eps instead of 16, and when they got told they were being canned, they packed absolutely EVERYTHING into the last episode. I mean seriously, two weddings, two pregnancies, two babies, moving house, running out on a wedding, leaving your boyfriend to go round the country, a reconciliation....any one of those things would normally be the crux of ONE episode.

Me too. He was always good with Julie. He was also a very interesting character to watch.

You know how at the beginning of Season 4, Julie mentioned that Ryan didn't got the Marissa's buriel and never visited her grave. But she was very cute with Bullit, I didn't like Frank though. He freaked me out a bit... I mean, I know he should get another chance... but to abuse someone/ a family is pretty much unforgivable in my book.

I would have liked a short scene in the finale with Ryan taking a rose and laying it on Marissa's grave and saying goodbye and apologizing for never going there and saying something like "I miss you."

Ryan did go to Marissa's grave within the first few episodes of season 4. Remember when Julie had the info on where Volcheck was? He had gone to her grave to visit her and Julie showed up and said "I had a feeling you'd be here,".

^yeah, he did go...it's funny, for awhile in the beginning of season 4, I thought Julie and Ryan were hooking up or something! All the sneaking around and private phone calls, it seemed like another secret romance like when she was hooking up with Luke! That would've been something if that really happened!

Oh yeah, I remember... and she handed him the folder!!

Okay so I finally got around to watching the final 8 episodes of the OC (hey I was home sick for 3 days!) and I have decided that I didn't like the ending at all.

The earthquake episode had my hopes up and it kind of shook me at parts. It reminded me of how the OC was in the first three seasons and then they end up throwing ******** things at me to make me remember why I quit watching the show. The skelton in the attic that freaked out the girls, the flare gun, Taylor Kung Fu-ing it through the kitchen and shooting her mom in the foot, Summer begging a doctor to look at a bunny's foot when there was a HUGE earthquake that left many people homeless. Seth trading the keys to the Range Rover for a grocery cart, the being stuck in an icecream palor and the almost makeover of the icecream guy? (Oh wait did I say I liked this episode? No I liked the ending of the episode of Taylor's birthday...when the earthquake happened...no I think I liked those last few minutes and then the first few minutes of the episode following that....) Then the episode after that...it just killed me. I mean, everything was squished into a one hour ending? They squished 4 years into 60 minutes, minus the commericals, 47 minutes and 20 seconds!

Everyone was talking about how there was a tribute to Marissa in the finale. I hope they weren't talking about the whole 3 second glimpse of her on the day that Sandy was taking Ryan back to juvie. The OC was ALL (okay maybe not all but MAINLY) about Ryan and Marissa and the writers gave a whole 3 second to honour that? 3 seconds to signify the three year relationship these two had? The first 3 seasons revolved around their Romeo and Juliet love and the first part of season 4 dealt with him TRYING to cope with her death.

It just seems like once they got Ryan over her death that the OC changed directions completely. It went from being a drama to a comedy. All that stuff with Taylor and her ex husband and the book about Peaches? Summer and Seth practically living in the room after the earthquake? Julie trying to pick between trailer park trash and a red neck hick with 12 other kids? The woman who would only marry for money was now debating between a poor ex convict and an ultra tycoon?

The ONLY thing that I liked about the ending was seeing Sandy and Kristen having a new baby girl and living in their old home (the giving birth there, almost having a wedding there, and baptising of a bedroom were however over the top and really gay). I also liked the name: Sophie Rose (wasn't Kiki's mom Sophie?)

Another thing that irked me was when Ryan was all business man like and he sees a kid sitting on a thingie (can't remember what it was) with a bike by the telephone and he asks him if he is okay. Did Ryan forget that like what, 8 years ago, he was the same kid? He wasn't exactly all about talking or offering information about abuse and stuff like that.

I don't know, overall season 4 of the OC was disappointing and the series finale was a huge let down. I don't think I'll be purchasing this box set on DVD since I have no inkling to rewatch any of those episodes again.

^i'll agree that some of it was a little cheesy/dumb, but I don't see how Ryan at the end was bad. It doesn't matter if the kid wouldn't talk back to him or not, Sandy still helped Ryan even though he didn't open up to him.

I don't think it was *bad* it was just unlikely in the sense that Ryan having been that kid would know that the kid won't just open up like that. And its almost implying that any kid that looks lonely is "Ryan-esque". I just think it was cheesy and a bit over the top.

It wasn't nearly as disappointing as other things. Ryan and Taylor making googly eyes at each other during Seth and Summer's wedding...puke worthy.

^^ The writers didn't mean that the kid would open up to Ryan like that. The writers intended it to show that Ryan is successful and is willing to help others out.

And I think that Ryan and Taylor are cute together. I know that you're a Ryan/Marissa person though, but Ryan and Taylor have beautiful chemistry together.

Ryan and Taylor had beautiful chemistry?! That was such a forced, unnatural relationship to me :p

on a side note, I had a dream last night and Ryan was in it, not the actor, the character, so strange
