By the looks of how bland-looking this final issue seems to be— and with no mention of the end of Details, it seems like they didn’t know the end was coming until the very last moment.
I’d become bored of Details for so long I can’t even remember. They were quite good in the 90s when I would buy them monthly— but I was also fourteen then... I guess I just outgrew that brand of fashion presentation, and by the 2000s, forgot they even existed. It’s always too bad whenever a brand that’s been around for so long is closing, but other than that, they really didn’t have anything to contribute to men’s fashion presentation any further with their outdated “How to this” and “How to that” features that anyone can get for free on SM and Youtube, and it’s a good time for them to close shop, even it it is rather in such an abrupt way.
Still, I hope there’ll be a final final edition of Details showcasing their work throughout the decades— starting with the Annie Flanders days when this publication actually had an impact. I think they deserve that retrospect. It’ll likely not happen, unless it’s in a book-form, unfortunately.
